Sebastian
I didn't utter a single word as I hopped on my motorcycle and headed back to the packhouse. I feel as though I was indirectly rejected by my mate. This is not at all how I imagined meeting my mate would go. I always thought that we would lock eyes and she would jump into my arms. I would tell her how happy I am to finally have found my other half and capture her lips in a passionate kiss followed by lovemaking.
Yet, that was not the case. She's a beautiful human who wants nothing to do with me. That thought alone has my wolf whimpering.
Upon arriving back at the packhouse, I storm straight to my room and punch a hole in the wall out of frustration. "Run?" My wolf suggests, and I agree. Damaging my room won't fix any of my problems, but running can help ease my mind.
Once outside, I shifted with ease and ran into the forest. I could sense that David was nearby and no doubt following me. Honestly, he's probably trying to mindlink me, but I have everyone except the Alpha and Luna blocked right now.
I jump over fallen trees and enjoy the wind blowing through my fur as I run as fast as my paws allow me to. I thought running would help, but I still can't get Ariel out of my mind. I shift into human form and begin punching the nearest tree to me. "f**k!" I scream out, suppressing my tears. How could the moon goddess do this to me?
"Sebastian! Are you okay?" David asks as he shifts back into his human form.
"Does it look like I'm okay?" I growl at him.
"Talk to me. What the hell happened back at the bar?" I sigh and slump to the ground against the tree. David is the only one I allow myself to be vulnerable around. He's been my best friend since childhood and the guy I look to as a brother.
"Ariel doesn't want me, not even as a friend. She's pretty much rejecting me."
"That's bullshit." David bluntly states.
"No, it's true," I say slightly confused. Why would he not believe me?
"That woman was eye f*****g you the entire time we were there. She's just playing hard to get. Trust me, I know a lot about women." I roll my eyes at him, but he has a point.
"Listen. We go to that bar every Thursday. She's going to get to know you a little bit more each week we go. Just have patience man, she's not a she-wolf. Don't give up on your mate. Okay? I'll be your wingman."
"Speaking of wings, how are you feeling?" I ask with a chuckle.
"Oh, ha ha. Shut the hell up." David huffs.
I have to admit, I feel a lot better now that I talked with my best friend.
The following morning, Alpha Damon asked to speak with me after breakfast. He closes the door after I enter his office. "I won't take too much of your time. My brother is visiting tomorrow, so I need you to keep an extra eye on your Luna." I nod my head, "Yes, Alpha. I understand."
"How long will he be visiting for?" I inquire.
Rubbing his hands over his face, he mutters out five days.
My eyes widen in surprise. Lucas never visits for that long. Usually, it's two days at the maximum. His brother is the ruler of hell and has no shame flirting with the Luna. He doesn't follow rules or pack laws, as he is not a wolf and isn't afraid of death. He's pretty much invincible.
