Talk With Mom

500 Words
Ariel "Mom." I groan out in frustration. "It was nothing. Just a kiss from a hot stranger. Now drop it, please." "Does this stranger happen to have a name? What does he look like?" Ugh. Looks like she's not going to drop this. I love my mom and tell her everything. She's literally my best friend and the best grandmother to Caludette. "Mommy! I'm ready for bed!" Claudette calls out, saving me from this conversation for a few minutes longer. I walk to her room and tuck my princess into bed. Giving her a kiss on the forehead, I wish her a good night and sweet dreams. "I love you, mommy." I smile at her, "I love you too." Turning her light off, I close the door behind me. "Well?" Mom asks the second I return to the couch. "Sebastian." f**k. Even saying his name makes me smile. What the hell is wrong with me? I don't even know the guy. My mom obviously noticed my smile as she returns it to me. "When do I get to meet him? It's been four years, Ariel. It's about damn time you start dating again." "MOM!" I exclaim too loudly causing Claudette to come out of her room. "Is grandma okay?" She asked worriedly as she runs into the living room. My mom stands up and walks my baby girl back to her room. "I'm okay, sweetheart. Thank you for checking." I hear my mom say to her. I love my mom, but she's ridiculous. Ever since Eric left me the moment I found out I was pregnant, I had no desire to be with a man again. My focus is on Claudette and working to give her the best life she deserves. I don't know what I would have done if I didn't have my mom. She helps me out so much with taking care of my baby girl while I'm not home. "Don't raise your voice at me, young lady," Mom says calmly to me, but I can clearly sense how upset she is. I slump my shoulders in defeat. "I'm sorry," I state as I give her a hug. My eyes begin to tear up as I embrace her. "I just want you to be happy again. Not every guy is going to break your heart like that son of a b***h Eric. I swear if I ever see him again- "Mom." I chuckle. "He's not worth going to jail for." "That's true. I would miss you and Claudette very much." "He just seems...different. I don't know how to explain it. Sebastian just seems sweet and sexy. He asked to be friends, but I was a b***h and basically told him to f**k off. So, I doubt I'll ever see him again." "You never know," Was my mom's simple statement. "Anyway, I'm exhausted. I'm going to take a shower and head to bed. Thanks for everything you do mom. I love you." I kiss her cheek. "Love you too."
