Chapter Five -Feeling Space Myles ripped the pin- it notes with a groan. He felt like a man w***e. He now felt the pain he felt whenever he'd leave after his one night stand with random girls. The time when he'd leave a note thanking them for their time and leaving them some money. Now this one was worse, the difference was that Danger didn't leave money behind, she only left the note and that was all Myles needed to be heartbroken. It's not like he would've felt any worse if she had left money behind. He plopped down a chair nearby, eying the note and reading it all over again. His ego had been badly wounded. Didn't he satisfy her well enough? Or was it because she was sent? Myles strode to his bedroom and saw that the camera was still lying on the floor. So why did she leave? Myles' brain was clouded by the situation and he didn't know what to do. A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts and he went to get the door. He opened the door and saw his friend Henry. "Myles, I have something important to tell you... " Henry started, following his confused friend inside the suite. "What?" Myles asked in a sotto voice, collapsing into the dining chair. "That girl from your club, she was sent by Oscar to frame you." "I already know that." "That's great. So you didn't send her home, did you? So why haven't you been picking my calls?" Henry queried. "I still brought her home, okay," Myles blurted out, he was still reminiscing about their night together. "What? Then Oscar won." "You know what, Henry? I'm not in the mood, okay. I appreciate the fact that you investigated her for me but now everything's over, nothing's going to happen so just chill," Myles jabbered. Henry shrugged and opened a bowl which was on the table. Myles hadn't noticed that before. "Wow, smells tantalizing, did you bake these, Myles?" "What? Hey, don't touch anything. She baked them for me." He dashed there and took the bowl of cookies from him. Henry looked astonished by his friend's childish behavior but he remained calm. "But I just wanted a piece?" "No. She made it in my name so I'll have to be the very one who eats everything." Henry took a good look at his friend, Myles Winchell didn't look normal. He had bags under his eyes like he hasn't been sleeping for days, his hair looked ruffled and his cheeks looked crimsoned. What was going on? "Well, where has she gone to?" "She's left me, Henry. I woke up and she was gone," Myles explained sadly, clutching the bowl to his chest. "Wait, you slept with her and she left? Without goodbye?" "What's wrong with that?" Myles pouted. "She's only twenty, Myles. Pray Oscar doesn't report any rape case. She's still young." "What? Just twenty and she messed with my head like that? Besides, twenty is still old enough." "What did she do to you, Myles? You don't look yourself at all." Henry cupped his friend's cheek with a somber expression. "Are you sure she didn't give you anything toxic?" "I'm fine, stop worrying about me, Henry." Myles spanked Henry's hands away and stood up. "I know how f****d up this is going to sound but I think I'm in love with the girl." Henry gaped and broke into laughter. "What? You, Winchell in love? Don't deceive yourself, what s*x position did she give you that none of your girls have ever given you before?" "It's not about that, Henry. You should've seen the way she danced that night and she was fierce and very dangerous too, Henry. You have no idea." Myles reminisced. Henry stood there, marveled. "She should be fierce and wild, she's from a very poor background. She's an orphan and she fends for herself too." Myles turned to face his friend. "She may be an opportunist, Myles. You need to forget those things, you've had your fun and you need to bring your head back home. I won't report this event to your father, I'll let it pass provided you behave sanely," Henry informed Myles but his mind was far away. "I don't care what you do." "It's not what I will do but what your father will do. You know the man and how he is when he's around trimmers. He despises them, you've experienced some yourself." Henry pointed out as he walked over and placed a hand over Myles' shoulder. "I think the date with lady Marcia's daughter will be of help. Find women your parents will be glad about, not women- I mean girls who'll bring out their wrath like this danger girl." ****** On the other side of the world of riches, Diana hobbled her way home, she had trekked all the way from the rich neighborhood to hers and the frustrating thing was she had forgotten her purse inside Myles suite, no, she couldn't find it when she was looking around and she had to scram before Myles could wake up. She felt so tired. She was a few blocks away from her house when the fruit vendor called her. "Danger? Won't you buy anything today?" "No, ma'am Freda. I ate some yesterday." She smiled when she revived the dessert she had had at Myles place. She didn't know there were different types of grapes on earth. She had tasted each category and they were delicious. Such a pity she hadn't brought some. "Alright then." The woman waved her and Diana continued her trek. She got to the building she was living in and she sulked when she saw the contrast of the two buildings she'd been in just yesterday. This house was uncompleted, located in a grimy slum and there were many people living there with her, one person, whether with family or not, is allocated one small room and nothing more. Comparing this place to Myles suite was a lie. Both were incomparable. How rich was he? She took a deep breath and went in, thankful that it was dark. She had borrowed one of Myles grey designer shirt and shorts which were too big for her but she wore them anyway. She noticed that the whole house was noisy and lively. The kids were playing around and everyone likes jolly. "Hey, Tito, what's going on?" "The noise and the celebration?" "Yes, what's the catch?" "Mister David bought a television and everyone's there to celebrate his step up. He's having a party." "Really? Did he buy a television? Has he agreed to let us come there and watch some?" "Not yet but I think he will since he's having a party for us." "Wow, good for him." Diana smiled. The whole building contained about thirty tenants and one could count the number of people with television. They were poor people earning a meager salary which could barely get them by. "Where have you been, Danger? We've missed you." "I just had to go and visit my aunt, but now I'm back," She explained, ruffling Tito's hair. "You have no aunt anywhere, you are an orphan. No family or whatsoever," An older woman yelled, interrupting them. That sentence broke Diana's heart. "I have a family, miss Maya," Diana's voice broke as tears pricked in her eyes. "What family? Have you forgotten that you were dumped in an orphanage to your damn fate? You are an orphan," She yelled at Diana. "Don't talk to me like that, miss Maya," She warned as the tears fell from her eyes. "What can you do? Buy this whole house like you always say? Where are you going to get that money from, huh?" "Keep belittling me, one day, I'll buy this building and I'll throw you out of this place like a boss," Diana yelled at her and ran upstairs to her room. She broke down and cried. She hated it they rubbed the fact that her parents abandoned her at the orphanage in her face. That broke her heart and made her feel unwanted. She also didn't know why miss Maya hated her like that. She fell asleep on her flatbed in her small room. An aggressive knock on her door woke her up. She got down, switching on her lights and going to get the door. She opened it sleepily and saw Oscar. He looked so mad. "What did you tell Sebastian? That you couldn't get the damn video?" "I couldn't," Diana whispered, looking away with a scowl on her face. "What? I can't believe it." Oscar chuckled, running his fingers through his hair. "He caught me and was about to call the police on me, do you want me to get arrested?" Diana lied. "Call the police on you and you spent two days in his suite? Did he touch you?" Oscar asked, towering her but she cowered away. "No. He didn't." "Don't lie to me, Diana. Don't f*****g lie to me, you let that rich brat touch you and you dare deny it," He yelled at her, feeling so angry as he ripped the collar of Diana's woven sweater to reveal the hickeys there. "Now deny it, huh?" Oscar barked and Diana cried silently. "You are so damn cheap, Diana. You are the cheapest woman I've ever laid eyes on. Myles better get ready for me." He spat before he left. Diana slipped unto the floor and broke down again. *****
