After my birthday dinner, we all headed home. Kyle and his mother left before us, while me, Nana, and the chief, its still a little weird calling him that. I don't even call him by his name like my Nana does, I feel like saying Rikishi instead of chief is disrespectful to me. But over time I'll have to get use to it. But us 3 stayed just a few moments longer to enjoy spending the time we have together as one. But after about 5 minutes or so, Rikishi paid for everything and we left. On the way home, we talked about this morning with Kyle then tonight with all of us. I said it was beyond words can say. It was all too much to never forget. By the time we got home, the sun was starting to set, which was very beautiful. The reds, purples, blues, and pinks all mixed into, the sounds of the birds dying out for the night. Only sound you hear was the waves. When I got out of the car, Kyle was sitting on the porch swing waiting for me. I smiled at him when in saw him then turned to look Nana and chief. "Don't stay out to late, y'all have school in the morning." My Nana said. "Nana, its only 8:30." "I know what time it is, my child." I nodded then her and chief went inside the house. The chief looked at Kyle for a second then looked at me and smiled. I looked at Kyle for a moment and he looked nervous. "Ky, what wrong?" I asked him by using his nickname. "Ally, I. I have something to say, something to, to bring to your attention." He said playing with his fingers without looking at me. I walked over to him and sat next to him. I grabbed his hands and held them still. He looked up at me. When he did, he had this look in his eyes, like he had something he really wanted to say but didn't know how or what to say. He was cute when he did these things. One thing why I liked about him. He was cute in his own boyish ways, but I would never tell him I liked him more than friends. I didn't want to mess things up. "Ky, whatever it is, just spill it out. I can take it." I told him. He nodded his head as he reached into his pocket. "I been thinking for awhile now just didn't know how to do it or say it, but here goes nothing." He said as he turned my way and grabbed one of my hands. "I made this for you, with our initials on it." He said. I looked down at my hand and see there was a bracelet with my favorite colors, pink, purple, & blue. Then there was 5 beads, 4 of them were our first and last name initials and a heart. Oh god, please tell me he isn't asking me out. I started to freak out a little. But I let him go on. "We've been friends since we were in diapers, but didn't become close until we were 8 years old when you had saved me at the lake from drowning and then ever since we became the bestest friends anyone could ever call each other. Then a few years back, I started to feel different, see you differently. Like I'm seeing you for the first time ever. Alyssa Jo, will you be my girlfriend?" He asked. I was in shocked that this was even happening. I kept my eyes on my bracelet. It was cute how he made it. And sweet all at the same time to. "Ally just sat yes!" I heard my Nana say through the window. I looked up and saw both Nana and chief standing there watching. Like they knew this was happening. I started blushing at what they just did, I kinda felt embarrassed over it. Then looked at Kyle. He was looking down like he was scared what was gonna happen. So I took the big step. I brought my hand up to his face to make him look at me. I smiled at him for a moment then leaned into to do the unstoppable thinking, no the impossible thing I would have ever done to my best friend. I kissed him with what I got and he kissed me back. When I pulled away, I smiled at him and he had the cutest shocked look on his face. "Ky, I've had the hugest crush on you for I don't know how long, but I didn't want to mess what we have, our friendship up." "Ally, you wouldn't ever mess up what we have. If you say no, I'll understand. We can stay after." He told me. "Ha, after that kiss. Boy y'all are hooked." My nana yelled. I looked at her. "Go away Nana!" I whined. "Nope, not until you give him an answer." "If I say yes will you go away?" I asked. She nodded her head while smiling. The chief just chuckled a little before he walked away, pulling my Nana with him before I ever said the answer. "Ky, yes. Yes, I'll be your girlfriend." I told him. When I said it, I heard my Nana scream; Yes! Which made us laugh a little. I leaned into him a little before I turned my head up to kiss him again. "Did you, tell them you were doing this?" I asked. "I asked the chief for help and Rose overheard." "Help for what?" "To keep you there longer so when I got home, I could get the bracelet and run over here and wait for you." He told me. "Awe, your so sweet." I said. "One of the things I like about you." "Really? I thought it was charm and good looks." I started to laugh at him a little. "Yes, those too. But if this gets to much for either one of us, we tell each other okay. I really don't wanna mess this up." I told him. "Ally, if I known this was gonna be hard on you, I would have waited til we got older. Way older, to ask you out. But I didn't want to miss the chance when someone else asked you out." He told me. "Like who, I don't really talk or hang out with anyone other than you. The island probably thinks we were already together." I said laughing a little. "Look, just treat me right and I'll do the same." "Oh I will I promise. I've already had the talk with your grandparents in there and my mother. She don't want me to become my father." He said looking down for a moment. His father was abusive towards his mother and him, for the first 4 years of his life. He's only a year old than me. Even though he don't know much what has happened, he just knows some of the islanders talk about it sometimes. Its a small place, everyone talks. "I better go, before my mother comes hollering for me. Good night Ally I'll see you in the morning." He said as he leaned up to kiss me on the cheek. I nodded and walked him get up and walk off my porch towards his house. I saw there admiring the bracelet before the front door opened. My Nana looked at me smiling before she had waved me in into the house. When I came in, she grabbed my hand and looked at the bracelet. She told me it was pretty and that she was happy that I found my other half. Even this young, she said she didn't want me making bad choices just yet. I told her I wouldn't, I wasn't ready yet. And I wasn't.
