"I'm sorry, ma'am, but Mr. Damian Vladimir doesn't meet with anyone without an appointment. I can schedule an appointment for you, but with his busy schedule, he might not have any available time for the next two months," said the woman at the front desk, who came out to speak to me and introduced herself as his secretary.
"Did you tell him who I am, miss?" I asked. There was something different about this woman. The way she looked at me made it seem like I had committed a grave offense against her.
"Yes," she replied as if annoyed that I asked.
I didn't argue and left the Majestic Centre office building. It was my fault for getting too cocky, thinking that Damian would meet me if he found out that Felicity Roberts-Ortiz wanted to meet him. I thought he would be curious to know why the daughter of his business rival was in his office building.
Now I have to think of other ways to meet him. I don't have much time left. In a few months, I'll be marrying Alec. Though I’ve already broken off the engagement, I'm sure Dad will find a way to make the wedding happen. His reputation and business alliances are at stake in that marriage, so I'm sure he won't just give up and accept my decision not to get married. It's a test for him to see if he can get me to change my mind by bombarding me with calls and messages.
My next plan is to buy a new phone because Alec won't stop sending messages to me, either. He's asking why I suddenly don't want to marry him. I guess Dad hasn't told him about it yet because the Thompsons haven't contacted me or asked about it. It means Alec found out about it from someone else, and obviously, that person is Samantha.
I was about to block his number, but when I read his latest message, I didn't block him yet.
"You know that tomorrow's event is very important. We need to attend the business summit together to show the strong alliance between our families. If we have a problem, let's discuss it, Fel. Not like this. You know we've been preparing for this event," I read the text.
This is it! I almost forgot about this event! Damian will also be attending this summit. I remembered it because it became the center of attention when it happened in my previous life. He attended, and it immediately caused a commotion among both old and new entrepreneurs who wanted to meet him. I remember how mad Dad and Alec's father were because Damian stole everyone's attention instead of discussing the merge between the two families, the Ortiz and Thompsons.
I quickly got ready because the event is tomorrow. I got an invitation from Dad's secretary. Perhaps she thinks I'll be attending to settle things with my Dad, so she gave me one without asking any questions.
The event is exactly like I remembered from my memory. Everything is indeed like it was in my first life. I never thought I'd experience this again for the second time. Even though I've accepted that I've returned to the past, the events still amaze me.
I shook my head and conditioned myself. This is not the time to be amazed. If I don't change what will happen in the future and end up marrying Alec, I'll experience all the betrayals they did to me once again.
To avoid being recognized, I changed my appearance. Unlike my stepsister Samantha, who is more daring, my style is more old-fashioned and conservative, so I'm usually covered up during events like this, but not this time.
Because I need something from Damian, I have to at least make an effort for him to notice me. So I dressed up the way his exes dressed. Sexy and revealing but still sophisticated. I also wore a black fascinator with see-through fabric so I can hide my face in case I see Dad and Alec's family.
As expected, they were all at the event. The object of my revenge. I felt like snatching the security guard's gun and shooting them all. But seeing them die in an instant is not enough. They need to suffer and feel the pain like they did to me.
When I heard screams and saw some commotion among the other businessmen, I immediately knew what was happening. He's here.
Damian has arrived.
Of course, I didn't approach him. I just observed from afar, and seeing my father's displeased face as he looked at Damian's seat was so satisfying. I can't wait to see his face when he finds out I'm marrying Damian. I'm looking forward to seeing the look of betrayal on his face.
I returned my gaze to Damian. I'm being too confident; I haven't even convinced this guy yet. But imagining my father and Alec's family's downfall is what gives me the courage to keep going. I need to see them hurt and fall, especially Gina, Samantha, and Alec.
After the event, I immediately ambushed Damian Yvañes-Vladimir as he was leaving the summit using a different exit in the parking area.
"It's okay," he told his bodyguards. Though it was clear he was annoyed because his security failed to do their job properly, allowing a small girl like me to slip through.
Well, I'm just 5'4" tall, and standing beside him, who I think is over 6 feet tall, makes me look so small.
"What can I do for you?" He paused and scanned me from head to toe. "Felicity Ortiz. Am I right?" he added.
He knows me? Well, I guess from the previous charity event?
"I have something to offer, Mr. Vladimir," I said straight to get his attention.
"If that's a business proposal, then get an appointment at my office. I'm busy," he replied, then started walking towards his car.
"No, I'm here to ask you if you can choose me to be your wife," I said.
Immediately, he stopped and looked at me.
"Hahaha!" he laughed. "I didn't know Mr. Ortiz's daughter is a funny woman," he said, amazed at what I said. "I'm sorry, but I have no time to listen to your jokes. Go bother someone else," he added, now with a serious expression.
"I'm not joking," I said seriously to him.
"Cut the crap," he warned, showing that he had no intention of accepting what I said.
But I didn't come here empty-handed. I knew he wouldn't accept my proposal, so I prepared something.
"I'll give you Mrs. Robert's property in Las Vegas that you want. That is if you marry me," I said. As soon as I said that, I saw a change in Damian's expression.
He approached his car and opened the door.
"Get in," he offered me to get inside.
I didn't waste any time and quickly got into his car. He sat beside me and instructed his driver to drive, and based on the location he mentioned, it's a hotel nearby.
I knew he'd be interested if I mentioned the property in Las Vegas. It's a 30-hectare beach resort owned by my mom that is currently on sale in the market. Though he contacted Roberts' representative, he didn't know that the property was in my name. I inherited it from my mother because I'm her only child. I think Damian wants that place for the hotel business he wants to establish. And the reason why he hasn't been able to acquire it even though he has the highest offer is because my dad doesn't want to sell it to him. He wants to annoy Damian.
"Now I'm listening," he immediately said as we entered a private hotel room.
"I'm going to give it to you if you marry me," I told him what I said to him earlier.
He grinned, but I don't know what his smile means now. I don't know if his smile means an agreement. Did I succeed in what I wanted to happen? Am I starting to get my revenge?
