Zak pov.
I am not ok with this. Hanna cannot be bait. But she is not backing off. Nothing worked for her to take back her decision. Her mind was made up. The scared Hanna is no more. All what she wants is to catch him and lock him up. Even if that meant risking her own life.
After that day we didn’t get any texts or calls for a while. Life went on pretty normally. Except that it was far from normal for all of us. Hanna was constantly thinking about it. Hamza was in a better state than she was, but he too thought about it. I didn’t allow Hanna to go out alone. There was always either me or Hamza with her.
A week passed, with no news from the stalker. Police had found finger prints and blood on the windowsill near the stairs. CCTV footage was on not much help. We could see a dark figure lurking in the shadows. Since that area was not lit that night, the footage was not very clear. But we could clearly see him climbing out of the window and running towards the main gate. His face was covered and he was wearing a completely black attire.
The police had managed to take samples of the fingerprints and keep them recorded in their data base.
Hamza and I have become good friends by now. It is a good thing that we have a lot in common. We spend a lot of time in my home office. I have started to work from home so that I can spend more time at home. And since he is currently studying his Masters degree in business administration, both of us do get along pretty well. I have noticed that he is very good at this. Perhaps I’ll hire him when he graduates.
We were in my office when Hanna rushed in. Her phone was ringing.
“I think it’s him.” She said.
“Pick it and put on speaker.” I said.
“Hello.” She said as soon as she picked it.
“Hello princess. I miss you. Why don’t I see you in hospital anymore?”
“I’m on leave.” She said, her eyes were constantly on us.
“It’s so nice that you are talking to me now. Come and meet me.” He said.
Hanna looked at us. We shook our heads. We were not ok with this. But her determination is something else.
“Where?” she asked.
“Come to the industrial area at 9 tonight. I’ll be there." He breathed in to the phone. "Wear something short. I can't wait to see that.... Nevermind. Come alone." He continued.
My heart beat was erratic. How could he say such a thing about my wife? I wiped the sweat on my face and looked at Hamza. I saw that he too was furious.
" Remember, you have to be alone. If you try to trick me, I promise, it won’t be nice.” He cut the call.
She breathed out a whoosh of air before looking at us. She took a moment to stabilise her self. She kept her hand on her chest, most probably to calm her racing heart.
“Don’t go Hanna” I said.
“I must.” She said.
“But....” Hamza started.
“No I have to do this. But you also be ready. I’m doing this only to catch him.” She said and left the room.
I watched her leave, dumbfounded. I was in a shock until Hamza shook me.
“Dude, we should call the police.” He said.
We quickly called the police. They alerted those officers who were on duty in the industrial zone. That area is pretty much deserted. Only the workers would go there. But at this time of the night, all the workers would have gone home.
The police decided to spy on their actions and arrest that person. They didn’t want to alert him by sending a lot of officers there.
We were at the station waiting anxiously. The backup team was preparing to leave. We too will follow them. We kept praying silently. Hoping for the best.
Hanna pov
It is so cold. I am shivering. This place is completely deserted. Where is he? Maybe he decided to leave me alone. But I need him to come today. I wonder if Zak and Hamza had managed to get the police come in to action. If not, I’ll be doomed. That is why I decided to carry a little spray bottle in my bag.
Hopefully it will help me somehow. I waited for about fifteen minutes. No one came. Maybe I should go home.
I started to walk towards the main road when my phone started to ring. I picked it up.
"Come straight towards the building on your left. Remember, no tricks.”
He didn’t wait for an answer. My heart started to beat fast. Where is everyone? Where is Zak and Hamza? I hope this works.
I gulped before I took slow steps towards the building. With each step my breathing got faster. Maybe this was a bad idea. Again my phone rang. I picked it up with trembling hands.
“H...hello” I managed to whisper.
“Walk faster b***h. I am so hard for you already.” He practically barked in to the phone.
I froze on the spot. I honestly couldn’t see anyone else. I started to cry. I wanted to catch him, not give myself to him. I haven’t even let Zak get intimate with me. Our wedding night was messed up. Ever since then, I have been in this dilemma.
Suddenly, I saw a figure rush out of the building. He took long steps towards me. I stood on my spot staring at him as he dashed towards me. That must be him. He is coming to get me. I watched wide eyed. I felt as if the world had stopped revolving. He was coming to take me away.
Narrator.
The police officers who were on duty had noticed Hannah strolling all alone. They spied on her actions from a distance. They didn’t want to alert the stalker. Their back up team was already on their way.
They watched her actions carefully. They saw that she stopped and answered her phone. She started to cry. She is not moving anymore. Just then a man who had his face covered ran out of a building and rushed towards Hannah. He must have lost patience. The officers signalled each other, it was time. They surrounded them. They were fully prepared, knowing that he might be armed.
“Freeze. You are surrounded” They commanded as all four of them came out of their hiding spots.
The man knew he was found. He looked straight at Hannah and rushed towards her. He held her from behind and held a knife to her throat.
“One move and she dies.” He hissed.
Hanna was too scared to react.
“ Come with me” he ordered Hanna.
He dragged her to the empty building and took her in side his work place. He had prepared that place specially for this night. The police officers on duty had to ruin it for him.
He knew he had to be fast. He knew that the officers will be still ready for him. He tied Hanna’s hands and legs. He couldn’t let her escape.
Hanna was trembling in fear. She thought she could face him. But now, she was absolutely terrified.
“Who..who are you?” She stammered.
The man paced around the work place, pissed off that his plans had been ruined.
“Shut the f**k up.” He barked. “ I told you, if you trick me, it will be very dirty.”
Hanna flinched at that. “Bu....but....I didn’t know...that“ she gulped. “...that...they were here.” At least that was not a lie.
“lies.....” he hissed. She shook her head. She took deep breaths hoping to help her racing heart.
“I am not lying.” She told him.
“...where have I met you?” she asked.
She wanted to buy as much as time as she could. She couldn’t see his face as it was covered with a bandana. The way he holds his body and his build seemed familiar to her.
He chuckled darkly. “You want to know princess?”
Hanna furrowed her eyebrows. He does seem familiar.
He slowly removed his bandana. Hanna gasped.
“Liam!” Hanna was shocked. “But....why?” she cannot believe it.
Liam was a patient who came to the hospital with a deep gash in his thigh, which needed to be cleaned everyday for two weeks. He would come during her shift everyday and request for her to clean his wound and change his dressing. During those two weeks he had started to get attracted to her. However he was only interested in her body.
“You are just too damn sexy Hanna.” He licked his lips. “I love the way you are trembling right now. I want you to tremble beneath me.” He said in a low voice as he took slow steps towards her.
Hanna felt her heart might jump out of her chest. With each step he took her heart beat increased.
There wasn’t much she could do to resist since her hands and legs were tied up.
She did the last thing that she could.
“HELP!” She screamed.
