Chapter Five I arrive at Ivy promptly at eight o'clock. I'd left work early so I'd have time to get ready. As I shift my car into park, I lower the rearview mirror to ensure that my hair and makeup were still perfect. I'm happy with what I see. My chestnut hair falls in curls around my shoulders, and my dark eyes sparkle behind bronze eyeliner. I step out of my car and smooth my cornflower blue sweater over my charcoal pants. I step into the restaurant and see that Chase is already at a table. Our eyes meet, and he crosses through the dining room to greet me. “You look fantastic,” he says. “Thank you,” I say graciously. “I may have gone a bit overboard.
