A New Age ~ The Clock Rewinds

Chapter 3 Gone

It had been a week since her father's funeral, and it was a rainy day. Aneira still hadn't completely understood why her power sent her back in time 12 years, or even why she was in her younger selves body.

Aneira held out her hand and a small holographic looking clock appeared in it. Her ability as a meta human was to manipulate time, but even she didn't know how far that power could go. By the time she was 17 she only learned how to freeze time temporarily. It didn't seem like a very strong power but even she knew in the wrong hands there was no telling what it could do. For God's sake, she accidentally went back in time because of it.

"Where do I even start?" Aneira asked herself, as she sat in the middle of her bed. "Any,'' her mother said entering her room. "Come on, it's time for school," she said. Aneira nodded, and got off the bed, walking to her mother.

Out of everything that had happened so far, this was what Aneira hated most, restarting school. Some may think it'd be easy because she had already done it once, but it wasn't as if she remembered everything she learned in her 12 years of school.

Raina dropped Aneira off with the rest of the children her age. It was the middle of the school year, but today would be the first day Aneira returned since her father's apparent death.

"Your aunt will pick you up later" Raina said after giving Aneira a kiss on the cheek, Aneira nodded. Then joined her group. "Any,'' a little girl with blonde hair and blue eyes said, running up to her. "Hey Cyd " Aneira said simply "you've been gone forever where were you" Cyd asked "My dad died" Aneira said. "Oh I'm sorry, Any" Cyd said, hugging her. "Do you want to play with me after school we can go to my house" cyd said happily. "I don't think I can today, '' Aneira said. "Ok '' Cyd said sadly.

"Alright children let's go inside" said the teacher as her class lined up and went Inside. The school day went by quickly. Before she knew it she was outside the school waiting for her aunt.

"It seems she's running a bit late today," the teacher said with an awkward smile. This had happened a lot in her previous life too. Suddenly a car pulled up. One I had never seen before. A tall older looking man with Grey hair stepped out of the car. "Hey Aneira, I'm here to pick you up today," said the strange man.

Concern grew on the teacher's face. "I'm sorry sir but I can only hand her off to an adult that's on the list" the teacher said with an awkward smile as she slowly pulled Aneira closer to her.

"You women, always making things difficult" he said as he pushed her to the ground and grabbed Aneira's arm. "LET ME GO" Aneira yelled, as she tried to pull her arm away. He dragged her over to the car and threw her in. Then quickly got into the car and drive off.

"Let me go," Aneira said as she pulled on the door handle. "SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP YOU LITTLE b***h YOUR MOTHER ALREADY CAUSED ENOUGH PROBLEMS FOR ME" he snapped. My mother, what did she have to do with him? Aneira thought.

It wasn't long before they got to where he was taking her. It was a large warehouse looking building near the woods. He got out of the car and opened her door, ripping her out of the car and dragging her inside.

He walked her down a large hallway full of cells with other children and threw her into the last one. "From now on you are number 106" he told her before locking the cell and walking away.

What was happening, this never happened in the past so why in the world was it happening now. Aneira wondered.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN MY DAUGHTER WAS TAKEN" Raina yelled at the school principal. "Her teacher Ms. Phillips, was waiting for someone on the list to arrive for her and as they were waiting a man showed up and pushed Ms. Phillips down and grabbed Aneira, he was gone before anyone could even try to catch him" the principal explained.

"Raina" Angela yelled her name as she ran up to her. "WHERE THE HELL WERE YOU" Raina snapped, turning to her. "I... I was running late" Angela said. "AND BECAUSE OF THAT MY DAUGHTER IS GONE ANGELA" Raina yelled at her. "MY DAUGHTER IS GONE BECAUSE OF YOU" Raina added. "This... this isn't my fault" Angela told her. "If you were actually here on time this wouldn't have happened" she told her.

"Jason," Raina said, turning to him. "Get surveillance videos from the school along with the roads. I want every video with that car in it. Find my daughter" Raina told him. "Yes ma'am" he said with a bow before running off and giving orders to someone else.

Almost 6 years ago she was taken. Worries began to fill her mind. What if it was the same people? The thought. What were they going to do to her? There was no telling what they were actually capable of. And even if Aneira was a meta, even if she could use her power more than just to freeze someone, what if they gave her an ability suppressant. Using that on someone so young, on a child so small could be dangerous.

"Raina," Jason said, running up to her. "The camera caught the man's face" he told her as he showed her a zoomed in picture. Flashes started going through her mind of the day she was taken. The day she was shoved in the trunk of his car half unconscious. Tied to a chair. Ran from him. Getting punched by him and dragged back and thrown in that dark cellar.

"Find her," Raina said. "Find her now" she told him.
