Chapter 5 Axel

2018 Words
We swing by my favorite coffee shop on the way to school for breakfast. We don’t really have time but I am starving. After hitting the drive through I eat my bagel with cream cheese while I am driving the rest of the way to school. The parking lot is packed when we get there. So I have to park in the back of the lot. I hate getting here late. Grabbing my coffee I then swing my backpack onto my back. After making sure Waylon has everything he needs I lock up. We head towards the doors. I generally love my classes. I enjoy learning. I make great grades. I also play as hard as i work normally. Blow jobs in supply closets or a quickie in a empty classroom is not unheard of. I’m already getting that look from a few of the girls that know I’m always up for fun. Letting me know they are putting themselves on offer. I would generally pick one or three to meet up between classes. But today I just shake my head at them. They pout at me as I pass them on my walk into the school. As of this morning I made a decision. While I may not really know how my s*x life will be mated to a man. I’m his. My first class of the day is my finance class. Not my favorite but it’s extremely important for a future alpha. I will need this knowledge. That way I can make the best financial decisions possible for my pack. Waylon and I take our regular seats in the back of the class. It only takes a few minutes for the professor to enter and begin his lecture. I take notes to be able to study later. The class seems to fly by. When the professor finishes his lesson for the day and releases us. We pack our books up and decide to go to the library. Our next class isn’t for another hour so we decided to see if they have the book Dreki. Even if they don’t we can get some studying out of the way since I have plans tonight with my mate. It only takes five minutes or so to walk to the library as it’s not far from where our first class was thankfully. I immediately go to the computer to search and see if they have the book. I hold my breath as the computer loads. No results found. I look at Waylon and shake my head. “They don’t have it.” “It was a long shot anyway that they would. But they do have a old used book store over on forth street. Maybe they have it or can find it for us.” I can’t help the little ball of hope that flairs to life at that. “That’s a good idea. We can head over this afternoon after our last class.” With that decided we find a table and pull out our notes to study. Our next two classes go smoothly. For lunch we decide to just eat on campus. So we head to the dinning hall. It is packed as usual. But the line moves quickly. We load up on four hamburgers and fries each. Then we find a table. As we’re eating our lunch a food tray is set down next me. Then Birdie is sitting down in the chair next to me. Both Waylon and me are confused by this. As we have never had lunch with her before. She immediately starts rambling on about her day as she picks at a salad. I have never seen a wolf eat a damn salad. How the hell does she get enough calories to shift? “Why the f**k are you sitting with us?” I ask genuinely confused by her actions. “Eating lunch with my fiancé. Duh. By the way we need to go ring shopping. Today after classes would be best. I can’t be running around without a ring as if I’m single. I know your wolf wouldn’t like that at all. I’m thinking I want something elegant. At least three carats. Maybe a princess cut solitaire.” She rambles on. “I didn’t ask you to marry me so i am not your fiancé. Im definitely not going ring shopping. Or even buying you a ring. Im not mating you.” I reply back. She rolls her eyes at me at this. “Didn’t your dad tell you? Our mating is set for the next full moon run. So three and a half weeks from now we are going to be mated. It has been decided. We have so much to prepare. So you really need to get with the program.” I can’t help it. I laugh in her face. “Yeah that’s not going to happen. Plus my dad even agreed If I found my mate before the start of the ceremony. That he would call it off himself. He won’t force me. You may want to find someone else to be your groom.” At this bit of information she slams her hand against the table. “We will see about that. There no way your going to find your moon goddess given mate between now and the full moon run. There is no way. You will be my mate. Im going to call my daddy.” She stands up and storms off. Leaving her gray if salad behind. I still can’t stop laughing at her. Waylon gets his thinking face. “What?” I ask. “Well it’s hard to say without information on your mates mating rituals. But you believe you were already mated at the point of meeting his eyes. Even without the mating bite that our kind generally requires? Correct?” I nod my head in agreement at that. Because it’s true. “So even if the alpha try’s to force you through a mating ritual. Would it even work? Since as far as we know your already mated.” “Huh” that’s a good point. I’m already connected to my mate. “I don’t think it would. But it’s definitely another question we need the answer to when we find that book. Because my dad will not take well to the news when it gets out.” Waylon agrees with me and we finish our meal. After our last class and turning down another two women. We make our way to the Jeep. The book store is about a twenty minute drive from campus. The parking lot is empty when we pull in. “Are they closed?” I ask. Waylon shrugs and hops out. I follow after him. The door to the shop opens without issue and with a ring of a dangling bell. We hear a shouted “I’ll be right with you in a minute” coming from somewhere in the store. “No problem. Take your time.” I politely yell back. The store is cozy with over stuffed chairs and rows and rows of deep mahogany book shelves. Books cover every surface possible. The scent of paper and ink fill the air. I have a really good feeling about this store. We take a look around. I see books of every type of genre. But I’m not sure of the system used to find a particular book. Everything just looks mixed up to me. Just then we hear the worker come in the room. “Sorry about the wait. I had a new shipment come in that I was dealing with. My name is Ben. How can I help you today?” He’s shorter then us with messy hair and glasses. I take a sniff and sneeze. “What are you?” I can’t help but ask. He grins “fae!” “Wow. I have never met your kind before.” “We tend to keep to ourselves so that’s not to surprising. Was there something specific your looking for?” He says. “Yes actually. I’m looking for a book called Dreki. We didn’t have it in our pack library and it was not in the campus library either. So I think it may be difficult to find.” Ben nods his head at that. “Dreki. That’s dragon history if I recall. Correct?” He asks. “Yes. We are researching dragons. We couldn’t find much on them. But we did find a reference to that particular book. Any others that you can recommend would be greatly appreciated as well.” I reply. “Hmmm let me see I have a few that may help. I don’t think many are in print anymore and that’s probably the issue you ran into. I don’t believe I have Dreki. However I may know someone who might have it in their private collection. May I ask why you are researching dragons? It’s just an odd subject as many don’t believe they ever actually existed.” I look at Waylon to see what he thinks. He just shrugs. We don’t know Ben. But I have a good gut feeling about him. So I decide to trust him a little bit. Clearing my throat I say “I met one recently. So I wanted to know more about his species.” His eyes widen at that. “You met a dragon? Your sure? Absolutely sure about his species type?” I’m confused about why he’s questioning me like this. I nod my head. “Yes I’m absolutely sure.” Ben bites his lip and tilts his head side to side like he’s thinking something over. “Why exactly do you want to research his species?” “If I tell you. I need you to keep it to yourself. It’s going to get out soon anyway. But it is important that it stays a secret as long as possible.” I tell him. He thinks that over for a long minute. “I agree. As long as it doesn’t bring harm to anyone.” “No it won’t harm anyone. The dragon I met. He’s my mate.” I say. Ben’s jaw drops and he freezes. Then he’s running around the book shelf’s grabbing books yelling. “We need that book. I have some that may help. But Dreki will be a complete history of the species. You have no idea how rare or special this matting is.” “Is there any other copies of Dreki other then this private collection?” I ask. “There was only ever tree copies made I believe. One the dragons council had, one their king. The third is the one in this private collection and I’m not sure where the collector had acquired it from. But I have these four books here and I can get a message to collector. I can’t promise he will approve the request but if you give permission for me to share why. That can go a long way.” Ben says. “Can he be trusted? This can not get out before I’m ready. I’m Alpha heir. An alpha heir who is mated to a non wolf who is also a man.” I tell him. Trying to get him to understand the gravity of the situation. “Yes I believe he can be trusted. He may have information that can help as well.” Ben informs me. “Then yes you have my permission.” I buy the four books that Ben recommend and traded phone numbers with him. That way he could get in touch with me when he heard back from his contact. “I’ll reach out to him today. But it may be a few days before he gets back to me. He’s not a fan of technology so he is terrible at checking messages.” I take a deep breath. “ Thank you Ben. I really hope he agrees to help.” We say our goodbyes and then head out. I have a date to get ready for.
