CHAPTER 5 : LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT

1050 Words
Who could have thought someone like Alexander would jump in and save their drowning boat? Victor maintained a calm front and sensibly decided to talk it out. There is no such thing as a free lunch in this world. He had to figure out what he had that Alexander wanted. Or was he truly madly in love with Aurelia? Considering what a beauty she was, it was not entirely impossible... Victor seized Alexander properly. He shouldn't be the type of person who is driven by emotions. "Mr Weston, what was that earlier?" Victor took the lead to ask. He asserted his position first. Alexander swirled the whiskey in the short glass. The smooth ice made a crisp sound that was pleasing to the ears. Upon being questioned, Alexander looked up, "It's exactly what you saw. I like Aurelia and would like to marry her." "Like? When and where did you meet her? I haven't heard her mention you ever before." The twirling slowed down, "It was love at first sight." Victor raised an eyebrow, "If you want to marry her, why didn't you come to us earlier to talk about it?" "As I said, it was love at first sight. I saw her a long time ago and I fell for her. By the time I decided to pursue her, I found that she was already engaged. At first, I didn't want to hinder her life and left it at that. Now I saw the opportunity and took it. Aren't I talking to you about marriage now?" Victor choked on his drink. Love at first sight? Was he trying to fool a three-year-old?! Who would believe that? What was all that nonsense about admiring Aurelia for a long time?! Someone like Alexander was also capable of falling at first sight? That too with someone like Aurelia?! "Mr Weston, I think -" "This marriage isn't just about my feelings, Mr Listan. You should know that behind me is the Weston group. It shouldn't be a loss to agree to this marriage, right?" Alexander cut him off for the third time on the same night. Victor paused. True. The Weston group was practically a gold mine. If the Listan family was inferior to the Dishaw family, then it was insignificant compared to the multi-billion dollar Weston group. "You are in no position to refuse," Alexander gave him a reality check, "I like Aurelia and want to marry her. Give me the answer I want. Of course, you won't go without benefits. I will try my best to make it a win-win situation for both of us." Victor felt his chest inflate with a rare sense of joy. Benefits from the Weston group, it was a promise coming out of the CEO's mouth. Who wouldn't want direct cooperation with the Weston group? Who cares if Alexander was truly in love with Aurelia or not? He did not even care if his daughter had to serve him as a mistress for the rest of her life. It was a once in a lifetime chance that only a fool would let go of. "I agree." "Right, give me her number." Alexander smoothly slid his phone across the table. Victor quickly put Aurelia's number on his phone and handed it back to Alexander. He also added his own number when he had the chance. "I will be waiting for further news. Hopefully, the wedding will go smoothly. No need to postpone it." Alexander finished his drink and turned his back to Victor. Victor stood frozen at the table for a few minutes. His body was stimulated with too much excitement and now most of the functions refused to work. The first thing he did was pay the bill and run back home. He couldn't even remember the humiliation of the Dishaw family and how messy things had become at the party upon Alexander's arrival. All that mattered was that he encountered a once in a lifetime opportunity and he had to seize it properly. It was all thanks to Aurelia and her enchanting face, Victor thought. For the first time in his life he thought his eldest daughter was of some use. Even though the first engagement did not go through, her face attracted a bigger fish! He could make do with it! The atmosphere at home was chilly, to say the least. Zara and Rachel were still shocked by the turn of events while Aurelia stood silently in a corner trying to make heads and tails of their worries. Wasn't it a good thing that Alexander was now her fiance? Zara made a face as if she had lost money. Rachel also looked half displeased with the situation and half in disbelief. When Victor came back, he was immediately the center of attention. Usually he had a stone-hard face and rarely spoke unnecessary words at home. However, today he came back with a slight smile on his face and couldn't wait to tell the good news to his family. "What did Alexander say?!" Rachel asked before he even sat down. Victor removed his suit jacket and loosened his tie, looking as relaxed as one could be in such a situation. "He has liked Aurelia for a long time and wants to marry her. It just so happened that things worked out in his favour when Cooper and his family ditched us, so he took the opportunity to confess and propose to her." Victor glanced at Aurelia, who was as still as a decorative piece in the corner. "When did he meet Aurelia? When did they have the chance to fall in love?" Zara questioned, "With her personality? She doesn't speak more than two words unless spoken to! Who would dare to fall in love with her on their own?" "Don't speak like that about your sister!" Victor scolded promptly. This was Alexander's fianceè, they had to keep that in mind when dealing with her now. They couldn't keep behaving the same now that positions have changed. Aurelia looked up as well. She wanted to know how and when that man fell in love with someone like her. As far as she recalled, their first meeting was at the mall. S He surely wouldn't forget such a face if she were to see it in person.
