CHAPTER 7 : PHOTO ALBUM

987 Words
"Don't you check your messages?" Aurelia gulped, "This morning I woke up late and rushed to work. I only found the time during lunch." Alexander's reply came ten minutes later. Aurelia was almost done with her lunch. All the colleagues around her were gathered at one particular table with cards in their hands and empty lunch boxes already discarded in one corner. Aurelia was a loke existence out of their world. She quietly sat in her small cubicle and texted on her phone. ALEXANDER - Take some time to meet me tomorrow. Aurelia blinked thoughtfully and asked, "Is it okay after four?" ALEXANDER - Sure. Aurelia agreed to meet him after work. Fortunately, he was not too demanding or else Aurelia would find it difficult to keep up her normal schedule. When Aurelia went back home, she continued her day as she always did until Rachel and Victor came back from the company. Victor was in good spirits and even Rachel was happy. "Our management has a good eye. They have already formulated all kinds of deals that should be made. It doesn't sound inappropriate at all." Rachel laughed, "Of course. We handpicked each one of them. They are the ones who make our company great. We will be one of the leading businesses in no time." Aurelia placed a tray with two glasses of water on the coffee table. When they finished drinking water, Aurelia mentioned the text messages Alexander had sent her earlier in the day. "He wants to meet you? You agree, right?" Rachel asked. Her tone was much gentler than it ever was. "Yes. I will go to see him after work." Victor frowned, "What is this nonsense about work? You will be married to Alexander in a month. What is the use of working at a primary school? Resign." Aurelia's heart dropped in her stomach. She did not consider her job. She thought even after marriage, no one would care about her job and what she did in her time as long as she continued to serve everyone and performed her duties on time. "Okay." Aurelia never argued. She never said no when told to do something. That night Aurelia typed and printed out her resignation letter. She had to give it in advance so that nothing went wrong at the last minute. After printing out the letter and putting it away in her work bag, she quietly laid down on the bed and pulled open the drawer of the bedside cabinet. A small photo album was laid there without a sense of presence. Aurelia rubbed the leather cover and opened it. Inside were various class pictures. Small children sat in various rows around Aurelia and other teachers. In the next picture is another batch of students a little bit older in age. Various pictures of children of different age groups occupied each page of the album. Aurelia yawned once and placed the album back in the drawer. She reminded herself to get a copy of the current year's picture. As the end of the month was approaching soon, Aurelia made sure to check her bank account early in the morning. As a TA of a private school, she had a considerable salary which was enough to sustain her. She did not have any heavy expenses as she was still living with her family. Most of the money was still left to accumulate in her account. After a quick check with her bank, she went directly to school to work. She had a couple of classes to teach for the day. There were a couple of days a week where Aurelia had to teach classes. She preferred to do behind-the-scenes work more and she even communicated with the principal about it. Unfortunately, as a 'teaching' staff member, she still needed to teach. Fortunately, the children liked her. They were obedient and cute, calling out to her sweetly in their babyish voices. It temporarily melted the outer layer of hard substance from her heart. After classes, Aurelia took a quick break to fix her appearance and hailed a cab to the location where Alexander wanted to meet her. It was a rather normal day and the afternoon sun was golden to perfection. Sunset was slow and seemingly endless on summer days. Aurelia paid the cab driver and stood in front of an office building. It was a well known building in the city's prime location. It belonged to the Weston group. As someone who had never entered the co-operating world, Aurelia was not sure how it worked, but surely Alexander did not intend to call her to his office to give her a tour? Was it something that should be done in their arrangement? Aurelia was about to call Rachel to ask what was going on when the front revolving doors rolled and Alexander came out with powerful strides. He was wearing a shirt with rolled up sleeves, a blue vest and the jacket was hung over his forearm. That signature style was the same as the first time they bumped into each other. He slid on a pair of sunglasses as he walked towards Aurelia. Lips parted, Aurelia was left stunned at the powerful moment of his body. Aurelia had to forcefully stop herself from wanting to ask him to walk like that once again just so she could experience the thrilling sensation in her heart for a second time. It was male hormone attraction to the max. Aurelia felt attacked. Emerald's eyes were stuck on him until he stood directly in front of her. A hint of a smile hung over his lips, as if he knew what kind of thoughts were circling in her head. "Let's go." Aurelia wordlessly followed him into his car. The driver did not have to be told where to go. He started to drive directly to their destination, which was still a mystery to Aurelia.
