Dots excitement vibrated through the link, as she informed Michael and I that we needed to meet her in my study. She had spent the night exploring and camping out at uncle Dev’s old pack campus. So the assumption was that she found what she was looking for, what we were all looking for. Unfortunately, she had to find it as I was showering. Hurrying to complete my shower, I sped to got dressed. I hit my study at the same time Michael and Maribel made it.
We only had to wait about 10 minutes before dots. Excited face popped into the doorway of the study.
Good you’re all here. I found the perfect place. It’s kind of excluded away from the campus. Covered by a decent amount of trees so you can’t really see it till you’re pretty much on top of it. It’s just a dome like structure that almost looks like it was a fighting ground.
It probably was, knowing uncle Dev. I chuckled at her excitement.
Maribel smiles, I guess we’re just gonna have to bring your uncle into the fold. We’re going to need to know how much the pack is going to miss it if we just make this building disappear in thin air.
Sighing, I knew she was right. I really didn’t want to have to tell anyone else, especially uncle Dev, since he was such a close family friend. I wasn’t afraid of him telling anyone, I was afraid of him knowing too much. I was afraid that if he knew too much, it would endanger his life. I had no choice, though, I mind linked him quickly, asking him to join us in the study.
He shuffled in relatively shortly after i ended that mind link with him smiling at me.
I’m assuming that the dome in your forest clearing was a training ground for your warriors? I asked.
He nods in response. Yes it was my warriors favorite place to practice. They also trained young recruits in the dome.
So, it might be ideal if we maybe create a smaller version of one here? Closer to the main pack?
That would be a lovely idea, it might allow your warriors to bond a little better. I could just contact the construction guy and have him disassemble the one at my place and bring it here.
Uh, I hesitated, I need to use the other one. We would just have to build a replica in our training ground.
He looked at me puzzled, and I knew I had to explain. So, without hesitation, i jumped into Mirabel‘s story. Explaining the history of the generations of magic sensitive wolves and the war that nearly drove us into extinction. And ending with the concepts that me and the rouge king are both magic sensitive. To my surprise, he didn’t even blink at the mention of me having magic. Michael was the first to point out his lack of surprise. The story he told me was a surprise to me though.
Uncle Dev broke down into a story of when he lost his mate. The mate bond is strong, and when your mate dies it’s like a part of you kills itself off. After he lost his, he felt like he was half of a person. Being as he was a beta at the time , he it would be mean trouble for the whole pack if he to lost himself. He was struggling, even withering away. My mother, at the time in her third trimester with me, had gone to visit him one day. When she reached out and touched his hand, he said he felt like a fire had been lit from her hand to him. The warmth started in his gut and spread, outward, almost like it was warming him back into a whole person.
When he explain to my mom what he had felt. He said she had giggled at him and explain that she thought the baby in her uterus was magic sensitive. She had told him that two months prior when she was laying on her deathbed. Sick with an illness that no one could determine, with a fever out of this world. She’s suddenly started thinking about the pond in the clearing in the capital. And she felt as if she was transported into it, plunged deep into it. When in her daydream, she rose out of the wate, she smelt sweet grass and lavender. The next day she started to recover, no more fever no more illness. But she had felt a stronger connection to me. However, the fear of how people would react to having magic come back in the werewolf line, kept her from telling anyone else. Only my father, herself, and uncle Dev knew.
It fascinated me, to learn that even in my development stages I was showing magic. Mirabel thought it was wonderful, said it showed I was extremely connected to the elements. Which told her exactly what she was going to be training me on. So we all decided that it was best to build another dome in the training ground. We developed a plan for when it was completed to rotate warrior spars around for bonding opportunities. Mirabel also decided we would begin our first magic lesson tomorrow. She wanted to show me how to cloak things as well as start working on my elemental connections.
