Zoey's Point of View I was asleep when I was suddenly woken up to fear and terror filling my body. "What the hell," I said out loud as I put my hand on my chest. I could feel my heart beating fast. 'It is our mate,' I heard my wolf say as she became alert. 'But we are not bonded.' 'Does not matter. He has accepted us and I have accepted him and, in your own way, you have accepted him as well. So we have a bond.' I rolled my eyes. 'That is not how this wolf thing works and you know that.' My wolf and I didn't talk much, but when she did speak she was a pain in my butt. 'Can you tell what is going on?' I asked. 'No. His wolf can not talk to us. I can just feel him. We need to go to him," she said with urgency. I stood up and fell as I felt another wave of panic crash over me, but this time it wasn't just fear but magic as well. 'It is them,' she whimspered. 'I know,' I said as I stood up and ran towards the entrance of my lair. As I ascended from the depths of the earth I could hear screaming and animal-like cries for help. The moment I was out, I looked around and saw what looked like a gathering had appeared and now a large group of bodies in a field. 'Do you smell that?' my wolf asked. 'I do.' "Acai," we both said together. Acai were an accent race of demons. They looked like humans from a distance, but up close they were skeletons with dark souls trapped in them. They sucked the souls out of people and when they did they could regenerate skin. They didn't care whose soul they sucked, but they loved those of my kind. I only know this because we have crossed paths a few times. 'We must help them,' my wolf said. "And we will," I said as I began to run. I was faster than everyone here since I was half wolf and vampire. Suddenly I was in the group of people and when I looked around I saw wolves on the ground in pain and those not in wolf form running towards an invisible wall trying to break it down. In the distance, I could see the acari approaching children and I lost it. I allowed my wolf to take over and let out the loudest growl I had ever produced and raised my hands to my side. I conjured up the magic inside of me, allowing a wall to stand between the children and the acai. I knew I could not hold them off for long, but I could at least try and help. "Zoey," I heard someone say, causing me to look. It was my aunt. "Everyone listen to me. I can help, but only for so long. Only those of you strong enough can come with me. You will need to get the children and keep them safe. The rest of you need to get back to the pack house. The acari can not enter a dwelling." "And what will you do?" One of the council members said as he approached me, causing me to smile. It was not the type of smile that showed happiness but the type that was wicked. "What I was born to do." "We can not trust you. For all we know, you brought them here," he said. I moved a few inches and grabbed him by the neck. "We do not have time to bicker. They will kill those children. The acari don't care what they eat and children carry pure magic. So you can either shove your prick ways up your a@@ and let me help or I will take you straight to them and offer you to them." "Please save my daughter," a women said as she grabbed my arm. I looked at her and nodded. "Five strong warriors is all I can take," I said. Suddenly, several people were in front of me. "Five of you only. So top ranking. One per arm and two touch my back." The moment I felt the hands on me, I envisioned the area the children were in and, boom, we were there. "Round them up. I will deal with the acari," I said as I walked away from the group of warriors towards the demons. I summoned a sword to appear in my hands and whispered in my head to my wolf, 'we may not make it out of here alive.' 'I know.' 'Just thought you should know.' 'Appracait it.' The moment I was between the barrier I created I could feel the acis magic trying to break through. There demonic voices were filling my head. 'Ah, a halfling, she will be tasty. There is more than one; the power.' I tuned them out and stopped right at the barrier. I turned around and saw the wolves grabbing the children and smiled. I looked back at them and said, "This will end one of two ways. One you leave and never come back or I kill you." The voices in my head began to chuckle. 'You think you can kill all seven of us?' 'Of course I can.' 'Good luck. We will enjoy the fight but most of all, wearing your soul.' Suddenly, I felt a bust of their magic rush through my barrier and the acari moving quickly towards me. I gripped the sword in my hands and the moment one of them came at me I aimed for their head and swung but it bounced off it, causing the sword to fall from my hands. "Crap" I said out loud. The moment the acari ascended on me, I allowed my wolf to blend in with the vampire's side and went for my kill. I knocked the being down, but just as quickly as it was down it was up. The group of acari were on me all at once and the moment they came on me I was down. 'You are a strong young one and will do.' I heard them say as one of them grabbed my head and my world went dark.
