Ollie
“You need to be more careful.” I mumbled as I looked over the x-ray of one of the high school students that was brought in, “I get that you think it’s hilarious to jump from the roof into a blown-up pool, but then this happens. It’s broken in two places but they’re clean, so you don’t need surgery. I’m going to have a resident reset the bone and then we’ll get you in a cast.”
“Great. There goes baseball.” He said under his breath.
“You’re young and you’re a sophomore. You have time. Take the downtime now to relax and work on other things, like your grades, and in six to eight weeks, we will look at your arm again and if all is good, you’ll start rehab and you should be fine for the winter. I suggest volleyball to help before baseball starts.” I went over to him and patted him on the shoulder, “You’ll be okay, I promise.”
“I’m only believing you because it’s you. By the way, would it be highly inappropriate of me to ask you if you would go to the valentine’s day dance? Hell, even prom to give you more time to find a gorgeous dress.” he had the biggest grin on his face. It was cute but nauseating.
I arched my eyebrow at him while I typed in his chart, “Highly.”
“But come on. It’s not like anything’s going to happen. Celebrities take people to proms and crap all the time. What’s the difference with this?” He grinned pointing between him and I.
“One, I’m not a celebrity and two, I don’t do dances, and three, I’m way too old, so no, ask someone your own age. I am flattered but I’m leaving…right now.” I said and hit enter on the chart before leaving the room to him yelling that I would regret it.
I grabbed my tablet from the nurses station, shaking my head while I started my walk to the cafeteria to grab a coffee. I spaced out on my way, not listening to anything around me, not looking where I was going, on autopilot as memories from last night flashed through my head.
“I can’t regret something I won’t remember.” I whispered before I slammed my lips on his. As he gripped my waist and picked me up so I could wrap my legs around him, he took us to his room. I could feel his already very hard large c**k against me, only thin pieces of fabric separating us. I groaned into his mouth, wanting more, needing more. It always felt better with him. It always felt perfect and I knew I would remember this. There was no way I wouldn't.
He slammed the door shut, our lips never leaving each other’s as he took me to the bed and tossed me down, watching me as I bounced. He looked at me like I was his prey, taking slow steps towards me after he locked the door and I fuckin’ loved it. He knew how to handle me, he knew just how I liked it.
Only him.
“Last chance Angel.” He said with no emotion in his face, but you can hear it, you can hear everything he meant to say in the tone of his sexy, gruff voice, “Last chance to change your mind before we do this.”
“Take it.” I said as I sat up, leaning on my elbows, my eyes never leaving his, filled with want, lust, need. “Take what you want. Take what’s always been yours.” He came over, gripped my chin in his hand and kissed me so passionately, needing, that it literally took my breath away. He pushed me back so I was lying down as he crawled on top of me, forcing my legs open so he could fit oh so perfectly between them. His hands trailed up my hips and my stomach to the top of my shirt.
“How much do you like this?” and before he could answer, he ripped it off me, his muscles bulging in his arms, veins popping out as it slowly tore off me, revealing my very thin, red lace bra, “Don’t care. I’ll buy you a new one.” His eyes trailed from my face down to my chest, watching it move up and down, “How do you want this?”
“You know how I like it.”
With the biggest grin on his face, he stood up, grabbed my ankles, pulled me down the bed to him, flipped me over and put me on my hands and knees. He gripped my waist, pushed up my skirt and smacked my ass, making me moan and arch my back.
“Quiet.” He groaned through gritted teeth as he smacked my ass again, “And do what I say…”
“Ollie? You okay?” I heard behind me. I shook my head, snapping myself out of my trance as I felt my panties dampen at the thought of what happened last night, “Ollie?”
“Yeah. Sorry. What’s up Art?” I smiled.
“What’s up with you? You almost ran into like five people. You seem out of it, extra tired from a fun night out.” He nudged me and winked.
You have no idea.
“Yeah…something like that.” I smiled, “How’s Ava? I heard she’s been doing some volunteer work down at the stadium?”
“Yeah.” He laughed, “She got conned by Finn to come down when there are practices to work as a team medic type thing in case the kids get hurt. But she also has an interview with the elementary school to be a nurse.”
“Why? Isn’t she due in like four and a half months? Why start now and not the fall?”
“Right! That’s what I tried to say but she wouldn’t hear it. She’s bored.” He laughed, “But I do need a favor if you don’t-“
And both our pagers went off at the same time, right when we were about to get in line to get our coffee. I closed my eyes, pursed my lips and looked to see we were being paged to one of the rooms in emergency.
“Great.” He mumbled, “I’m hungry.”
I shrugged, “And I’m tired. I really wanted that coffee. Come on, let’s go.”
“That’s because you were out having s*x all night with Monroe.” He laughed and I stopped walking and looked at him, my eyes wide, “You were with Monroe…right?”
“Y-yeah.” I rushed past him.
“Sure…sure…what did you do last night or who did you do?”
“I went home.” I snapped out a little bit too quickly.
“You need to tell me what happened.” he said, catching up to me.
“Nothing.” I shrugged, “We were at the bar with Aiden and Archer last night. I didn’t feel good so he took me home and dropped me off. He asked if it was okay to go back out with the guys at the bar and watch the ball drop and I said I didn’t care, so he left and I…went to bed.” I didn't lie…about almost everything. The only thing that wasn't true was I left because I didn’t feel good. My eyes glazed over briefly at the thought of what he said when he dropped me off.
“You’re a terrible liar.”
“Nothing about what I said was a lie.” I rolled my eyes.
We turned into the room we were paged and we both stopped in our tracks, almost colliding into one another in the door frame, “What did you do?” I groaned as I shoved Art just a bit and going up to Archer, Aiden and Felix, my eyes going straight to Archer who was the one bleeding on the table while he glared at the other two.
I need to avoid eye contact.
“Well, after a late night and doing way too many shots, this one came up with the dumbass idea to go shooting at Felix’s dad’s ranch instead of the shooting range.” Aiden rolled his eyes, “and the i***t was still half drunk when he shot the gun at the target.”
“That doesn’t explain why we have to give him stitches to his bicep.” Art raised an eyebrow as he got the suture kit ready and I pulled up Archer’s chart.
“That’s the messed up part,” Felix laughed. I looked up briefly from the computer and took him in. Khaki shorts, a tight black shirt that showed off all his muscles as he crossed his arms over his chest. Those very same muscles that tossed me all over the bed last night and took me in so many ways I lost count, “Before he shot the gun, he had a pocket knife open because he was carving crap into my fence and instead of being the responsible adult he’s supposed to be, he left the knife out and open. So, when he shot the gun, he dropped it because it startled him like a dumbass, and the knife…attacked him.”
“Attacked?” I questioned, “You’re going to have to explain more than that.”
“Please don’t.” Archer groaned as Art started the numbing injections, “s**t, some warning would have been great.”
Aiden rolled his eyes, “Suck it up. That’s nothing.”
“Doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt.” He mumbled.
“It wouldn’t hurt at all if you guys weren’t stupid and played with guns when you’re hung over. I really want to know what happened. Knives don’t magically jump up and cut people.” I stopped typing, ready to listen. I didn’t need to know what happened, I just wanted to know for my own curiosity.
“A garter snake slithered by his foot.” Aiden laughed, “Scared the s**t out of him, he freaked out, jumped, shot the gun and dropped it on the blade of the knife and when he dropped the gun, he went down to get it at the same time the knife was falling and it sliced him pretty good.”
Art and I just looked at each other and died laughing.
“Assholes.”
“I can’t believe it. It sounds so…fake.” Art laughed. I rolled my eyes and finished typing notes when my phone went off. I looked down at my pocket and groaned, not wanting to do this now.
Ryan: I need to talk to you now.
Me: I’m working.
Ryan: I don’t care. Now. Outside.
Me: I seriously with a patient. Can this wait?
Ryan: Olivia…I swear if you are not out here in two minutes.
Me: I’m seriously with a patient right now doing stitches. Please, I can’t right now.
“Hey, are you good?” Felix asked. His voice softened a bit and when I met his eyes, I could see concern in them. It’s not the first time, it won’t be the last.
“Yeah. Hey Art, do you have this?” I asked as I quickly finished off the notes, “I have…a meeting.”
“Um, yeah. I’m good. Are you still coming over later tonight?”
“As far as I know, yeah. I’ll see you guys later. Aiden, I’ll see you tonight. Felix…Art…stay away from guns…and knives…” I laughed as I turned from everyone and headed out the room.
I put my tablet at the nurses station and headed outside to the parking garage where I knew he was waiting for me. I rushed down the hall, looking over my shoulder, making sure no one was following me because the last thing I wanted was for anyone to see what was going to happen.
It’s one of my biggest secrets and regrets and I honestly don’t know how to fix it.
I’ve never been in this situation before.
He’s slowly killing an already broken girl.
Once I reached the double doors, I looked one more time before heading to the top of the parking garage where no one parks. As I quickened my step, my phone being blown up even more by Ryan, my heart was starting to pound even harder.
“Took you long enough.” He said, leaning against my car with his arms crossed, “I told you I didn’t like to wait.”
“I know and I’m sorry.” I huffed, trying to catch my breath, “I told you I was stitching up a patient who got cut pretty badly but I’m here. What did you want to talk about?” I tried to give him a soft smile, something to help ease the tension. The last thing I want is to go back to work looking or feeling any different that what I do now.
“Where were you last night?” he glared at me, standing straight and taking a step forward.
“You know where I was. After we left, you took me home. I went inside a house and went to bed.” I said, choosing my words carefully. If it’s one thing I hated, it was lying, so I was taught by Felix’s sister to choose my words carefully.
“Bullshit. Where did you go?” he started to raise his voice, taking another step towards me as I took a step back, “I know you went somewhere. After the damn ball dropped, I came back to your place and knocked for a good fifteen minutes and you didn’t answer the damn door. I went inside and the house was empty.”
“I told you I didn’t feel good and I was drinking like I was a fish.” I said defending myself, “I called one of the girls and they came and got me because I didn't want to be by myself.”
“I don’t believe you,” he glared.
“I don’t have time for this, Ryan, I have to get back to work.” I went to turn away and he grabbed my wrist and squeezed it, tight, making me wince a bit. The pain was still there from the last time, “Let go. It still hurts.” I whispered, “That last thing I need is for people to question more bruising.”
“If you weren’t such a clutz, it wouldn’t hurt, would it?”
“Your right but please, let go. I have two more hours of work left.”
“Not until you tell me where you were.” He took a step towards me.
“She was with us.” I heard. I turned and saw Luna and Ava, standing there, “When you dropped her off, she called me and I went over to take care of her and then brought her over to our place. She didn’t feel good, like she said.” Ava crossed her arms over her chest.
“I was with her because we were talking about Miles and Aiden, about to watch the ball drop when Ollie called. While Ava took care of her, I ran home and got some soup since Ava didn’t have any.” She laughed, “You know how she is, always eating out and never having food at home.”
He let go of my wrist and looked at Ava and Luna and then back at me. He pulled me into his arms and kissed the top of my head, “Okay, I just wanted to make sure you were okay. I was worried about you.” he said with a smile, a smile that said so much more than it should, “But as long as these two were there to take care of you, then I’m happy. You know I care about you, right? You mean a lot to me and I just want to make sure you’re safe and sound. Even though we live in a small town, it’s still dangerous out there.”
“I know you do and thank you.” I smiled but not looking into his eyes, “They are the best friends a girl can ask for. Do you have work tonight?”
“Yeah. Overnight, so I won’t see you until tomorrow night when you’re out. I’ll call you later?” I nodded. He kissed me on the top of my head and brought his lips to my ear, “If I find out you’re lying.”
“I’m not. They were there. You heard them.” I whispered back.
“I don’t like liars, you know this. I don’t like doing this to you. You know I care. I love you Ollie.”
“I know. Me too.” I whispered, looking at him. I refused to say those words and I could see the anger building again in his eyes. “I know you care and you know I care about you too.” He let go and turned back to go to his car, turning around one more time as Luna and Ava came over to each side of me and stood there. We watched him get in his car and peel away, making streaks on the concrete. Once we knew he was a few levels down, Ava turned to me.
“You need to tell me what the hell is going on, right now.” She pointed at me.
“Nothing.” I held my hands up, “He just came over last night and I didn’t answer because I wasn't home. I went to my parents'. He was worried.”
“Then why did he grab you like that?” she crossed her arms over her chest and c****d her hip to the side.
“Because he was making me upset and I went to walk away from him and he stopped me from leaving because I have a terrible habit of walking away mid conversation.” That part was true. Ask Felix. It’s how a lot of our fights happen, because I walk away and leave issues unresolved.
But I’ll never admit that fully out loud, especially to him.
“Okay…but why does your wrist hurt?” Luna asked, “If something is happening you know you can tell us.”
“I love you both and I appreciate it, I really do and if something was going on you two would be the first to know about it. But I promise, everything is fine. My wrist hurt because it got tangled in the reins of my horse when I was getting off a couple of days ago.”
Ave took a step forward and glared at me, right in the eye, “So, where were you last night?”
“Like I said, I was at the bar with Aiden, Archer and Ryan and I wasn’t feeling good, so he took me home and dropped me off so I could get into bed. I didn't want to be alone so I went to my parents' house.”
“Whose bed?” She asked with a slight smirk. I shook my head and started towards the door.
“You’re ridiculous. I have a boyfriend. I wouldn’t be anywhere else.”
“You see, I don’t fully believe that.” She said, chasing after me.
“Ava, let’s drop it.” Luna said.
“Please.” I mumbled, walking down the hall towards OB so we could get Ava set up for her ultrasound.
“No, you see. This is what I think. I think you’re using Monroe to hide your true feelings for a certain ex-Marine that has had his eye on you since he first saw you.”
“Aiden likes Luna.” I winked, “Even though he’s too much of a chicken to say anything.”
“That’s not who I meant and you know it.” She rolled her eyes, “I’m going to figure out why you two have this unresolved s****l tension if it’s the last thing I do.” Yeah…good luck.
I opened the door to the room and saw Art, Aiden and Felix already waiting for us, “Where’s dumb dumb?”
“Going to work even though Art told him to take the day off.” Aiden shook his head, “I still can’t believe that happened. Hey.” He nodded his head at Ava and Luna. Luna made a small wave and went to the other side of the room away from him. His eyes shifted to her every few seconds, but quickly to the point where it would be easy to miss, but the blush on her face was evident. I just internally shook my head.
These two…I’m tellin’ ya. Now I want to know what happened between the two last night.
“You ready to see your nugget?” Art grinned as he pulled up the machine. I looked at everyone in the room. Aiden, who was beyond happy to see the baby before he leaves tomorrow. Luna has been a huge support for Ava, especially since Sawyer has been busy with the kids and helping with the choir they want to start. Art, who was giddy to the point it was nauseating. And then there’s Felix.
I couldn’t look at him.
I told him I wouldn’t remember.
But I do, every moment, even kiss, every motion.
But I won’t let him know that.
“You got this right, Art? I have to get to another patient.” I lied, kind of. I really did have a patient, just not right now.
“Yeah.” He said without looking at me, “You sure you don’t want to stay?”
“I want to. Trust me, but I’ll see the baby soon anyway. You’re doing this for practice only because she’s really my patient. But I have a reset in about fifteen and it’s on the other side of the hospital.” And with that, I turned without looking at him. I need to act like before where I would ignore him as much as possible.
I took my phone out and headed out the room, trying to leave the suffocating presence. Whenever I’m in a room with him, it’s like I can’t breathe.
I went up to the nurses station and grabbed my tablet, checking on my patients before doing rounds when I felt him behind me. I could smell him a mile away. His woodsy cologne surrounded me as I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand.
“How was your night?” He whispered.
Without looking at him, I shrugged, “Fine. Woke up with a major hangover and asleep on my living room floor. It was weird. I had the strangest dream.”
“What’s that?”
“I had a dream that some annoying cockroach was bugging me and I did everything to smush it but it just kept coming back.” I eyed him over my shoulder, “Now, if you excuse me, unlike you, some people have a job to do.”
“It’s funny. I remember last night a bit differently.” He whispered before dropping a bag on the counter in front of me, “As promised. A new shirt.”
I closed my eyes, blushed and turned away, snatching the shirt off the counter. When I turned around, he was already heading back to the room and I just instantly wanted to hide in a hole.
