Felix
“What are you doing?” she whispered after she let out a gasp, “Let me go.”
“Kind of hard to let you go when I’m not even touching you.” I smiled down at her. She tried to push me away but it was no use. I’m too heavy for her to just push away like that. I reached up and tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, my fingers lightly tracing her skin down the length of her neck. Her eyes widened as they never left mine. I could feel the goosebumps forming as her breath quickened. Her eyes dilated just a bit, just enough for me to notice that she loved this even if her words wouldn't say it.
Being this close to her is mesmerizing and brings back plenty of memories of our times together, all of them rushing back to me all at once. I shook it all off, concentrating on the now.
“Move.” She whispered, her eyes shifting between mine and my lips as I licked mine.
“See, I don’t think you want me to.” I whispered, lowering my head just a bit more. Just an inch closer.
“You think you know me so well.” She glared, “News flash, you don’t.”
I trailed my hands down her arms slowly, feeling goosebumps that I knew I had caused on her skin after every trail. Her breath hitched as I stepped a bit closer to her, my hands intertwining hers and mine as I pulled her arms up above her head, “I do know you Ol. I know how you make your coffee in the morning. I know about the relationship you have with your parents. I know about your secrets, your wants, your desires. I know you bite the side of your lower lip when you want something. I know all the dirty thoughts that go through your head…” I whispered as my thumb pulled her lip from her teeth and traced it, “I know you better than you think.”
Her chest was heaving in and out quickly as I placed a soft kiss in the crook of her neck, then another one a bit higher and higher until I placed on right at the corner of her mouth, “You smell delicious. Always have.” I grinned.
“What are you doing?” she whispered, looking up at me, “You know we can’t.”
“And why’s that? Because of him? Tell me, do you really even like him? Why are you even with him? You know it’s always been us, Ollie. There’s no denying it. It was supposed to be us back in high school and it’s supposed to be us when I came home.”
“I care about him and he cares about me.” She whispered, pulling her hands out of mine, “Besides, you ruined any chance we had before you left for basic.”
I pursed my lips a bit and took a step back, not wanting to push her more out of her comfort zone. I may be a d**k most of the time, but I’m not that much of an ass, “I just have one last thing to say to you babe…” she glared at me as she crossed her arms over her chest and c****d out her hip, “You’re too good for him. Hell, you’re too good for everyone in this damn place, even me…but him…you can do better than him.” I shook my head and started to walk to the back door. I took one last look behind me and she was still standing up against the wall.
“Stop.” She yelled out, making me freeze as my hand held the doorhandle, “You can’t say s**t like that to me! You lost that right to say anything like that ten years ago, Felix. You can’t go around this stupid town pretending we are complete strangers and then say things like that. You can’t say it’s always been us when it hasn’t. You can’t say I’m too good for him! You can’t touch me like that or kiss me like that!” her voice trembled as she spoke her mind. You have no idea how much I just want to shove her against the wall and take her right there.
I couldn’t help but try to hold the smile I wanted to give her so I kept my back to her, “Why’s that?” I asked, "And for the record, I wasn't the one pretending, Angel. That was all you. You avoided me. You ignored me until you needed me. You're the one that used me, so don't go pretending you're the only victim is this terrible game we're playing. So tell me, why can't I tell you what I keep buried every single goddamn day?"
“You broke me! You know that. What you did is unforgivable.”
“And what did I do to you, Ol?” I whispered, “What did I do to break you so badly that you can’t even look at me? What did I do to make it so you can’t even speak to me like we used to?”
“You know what you did,” She whispered.
“I know and I’ve tried to explain things to you many times, but you don’t want to believe me, you don’t want to listen. Hell, even your brother tried to talk to you, but you're stubborn as f**k. One day, you will understand what happened and then we can talk about everything else. You and I, Ollie, you know it is. You know you’re mine.” I closed my eyes, licked my lips before biting them and the next thing I knew, I lost all impulse control, turned around and snaked my fingers through her hair, “I’m not going to remember this tomorrow but I have to. You know how I feel Ollie, I never fuckin’ stopped.” And I slammed my lips on hers as I walked her to the wall, pushing her against it. Her hands gripped my shirt, pulling me closer as my hands trailed down her body, reaching for her beautifully plumped ass, picking her up just a bit so her legs were wrapped around my waist. I ground my hips into hers as I slipped my tongue into her mouth, tangling our tongues together, remembering that sweet taste that I’ve missed since the last time.
I pulled away from her just a bit, her trying to reclaim my lips as I smirked down at her, “Why did you stop?” she whispered.
“Because Angel…” I whispered in her ear, “Your boyfriend is waiting for you. Now, take the time you need and think about what you want. You know where I’ll be. I’ll see you on the ranch.” I winked, placing one last kiss on her lips before walking out the back door, leaving a stunned and shocked Ollie in the dark hallway.
Once the door was shut, I shook out my hands and arms and started the long walk back to Aiden’s place. As I walked, flashbacks of the last thing she said to me before I left for basic ran through my mind. My chest tightened at her words, repeating over and over in my head.
I’ll never forgive you.
I was snapped out of my memory by the loud blast of thunder and a flash of lightning. Who would have thought it would do this in freaken January?
I groaned as I put my hands in my pockets, wishing I would have grabbed a fuckin hoodie while I hightailed it the house. As soon as I got in there, I turned on the lamp in the living room, turned on the TV to watch the ball drop in ten minutes and started the fireplace because the fuckin’ temperature was dropping and dropping fast. As I headed to the kitchen to grab my bottle of whisky because, after tonight and the s**t I pulled, I needed it, I got a message from Aiden asking where I was.
Me: Went back to the house. Wasn’t feeling the scene.
Aiden: Do I need to kick Monroe’s ass to make you come back? Dude, the ball is about to fuckin’ drop.
Me: I’m good. I’ll be here. Enjoy your night and tomorrow we’ll go to the shooting range after I help dad out. And I mean it, man. Enjoy. Your. Night.
Aiden: Done. See you tomorrow bud.
I sat my fat ass on the couch with my bottle and watched as everyone got ready in Dallas, where they were streaming their version of the ball in NYC. The noise of the crackling wood echoed throughout the room as I turned down the volume. Five minutes. I ripped my shirt off and ran to my room to change into something more comfortable. These clothes were filled with her scent and it was getting to me. I went to my closet and pulled out my sweats and a new shirt as a box fell from the shelf.
That fuckin’ box.
I watched it slowly fall and the contents fall out. I stood there for a good minute just looking at everything. I really should just get rid of that crap but I can’t. While I was scrambling to put it all back in, there was a knock at the front door.
Who the f**k was here? Aiden wouldn’t knock on his own door. Sawyer and Ava were at Sawyer’s with the kids, probably wine drunk, while Finn and Art were planning the next guys' trip. Dyl, Jordan and the girls were at Austin’s with the others, so who the f**k else could it be?
I walked out of the room, the sounds of thundering rain hitting the windows made it sound like bullets were flying, making me flinch just a bit. The guy on the TV said 30 seconds as the countdown began. I’m used to bringing the New Year in with Aiden or at last have someone with me, friends, anyone just to keep the silence away, but being alone fuckin’ sucked, but I know for a fact that I would have lost it when I saw those two kiss at midnight.
I torture myself enough as it is, I don’t need to see that s**t.
With a grumble, grabbing my bottle and polishing it off, I put it down on the side table and opened the door.
Hands pushed back against my chest, forcing me into the house as I was pushed against the door. My hands gripped her waist as her wet fingers trailed down my chest, abs, to the hem of my pants, leaving her searing mark everywhere she touched, like a burn. Her eyes met mine and I saw the gloss, I saw the wetness. She was drunk and she was crying.
If he did anything to her I’ll fuckin’ kill him.
“3…2…1…HAPPY NEW YEAR!” was screamed on the TV.
She leaned in and whispered, “Happy New Year.” As her lips slammed against mine. I turned her around and pushed her against the door, our bodies molded as my fingers tangled in her soaking wet locks. The sound of the rain turned brutal, matching our energy.
“What are you doing here?” I whispered, pulling my lips from hers, “Don’t start something you’re going to regret.”
“I told him I didn’t feel good. He dropped me off at home and I just started walking…and ended up here…I don’t know why but…” she whispered as her beautiful blue eyes shifted to mine. Her fingers trailed the skin right above my pants, tickling and sending shivers at the same time.
“Don’t do this if you’re going to regret it later…”
“I can’t regret something I won’t remember.” And her lips slammed on mine as her hands wrapped around my neck. I picked her up and wrapped her legs around my waist as I carried her back to my room, slamming the door shut behind me.
BANG BANG BANG
“GET DOWN!” Aiden yelled as the guys dived behind the wall of a broken building, “COVER!” he screamed.
“HAYES. THEY NEED OUR HELP. I’M GOING IN!” I yelled, making sure my gun was loaded, ready to run as fast as I could to the other wall to get one of our guys.
“WAIT FOR ORDERS,” he yelled.
“f**k THAT. IF WE DON’T GET TO HIM HE’S GOING TO BLEED OUT.” I screamed before turning and making sure it was somewhat clear. I kicked off the ground, dirt flying behind my feet, and started to run, bullets whizzing by my head, missing me by inches.
“GODDAMN YOU SCANLON!” he screamed as I heard his footsteps behind me. I turned around and saw one of the guys shooting at us. Aiming at him as he lifted his gun, I lifted mine quickly, shot and down before he could get us, but I didn’t see the other guy,
“f**k!” I screamed as I kept running, ignoring the burning pain in my arm. I could feel the blood pouring into my gear but I couldn’t let that stop me. He needed me. We slid on the ground and got next to one of our guys. Aiden opened up his pack and pulled out gauze to pack the wound as I took a belt to make a tourniquet.
“We got…” and another bullet hit my leg making me scream out in pain.
BANG BANG BANG BOOM!
“AMBUSH GET DOWN!” I yelled, sitting up in bed. Sweat was dripping down my body, my chest was heaving in and out, hands shaking, trembling, as I looked around the room.
I looked from the bed, to the mirror, to the dresser that had the picture of my sister and I and to my clean hands.
One. Two. Three. Breath in and out. One. Two. Three.
“Hey.” I heard from the doorway. I looked up and saw Aiden, leaning against the doorjamb, arms crossed and furrowed brows. He knows my pain, “You okay?”
“Yeah. Just another one.” I mumbled as I rubbed my hands over my face, “I’m good…I’m good.”
“Maybe you should talk to someone.”
“I said I’m good,” I snapped.
“We both know damn well you’re not. We know what happened over there but I’m not going to force you right now, but I’m telling you, if you don’t get help when I get home, I’ll drag your ass down to the VA.”
“f**k off.” I mumbled, “Where’s Ollie?” I asked, looking around, but there were no signs of her anywhere. No shoes, no clothes except for the shredded shirt, nothing but the lingering scent of her perfume on the pillow next to mine.
“What did you do?” he looked over at me as I rolled my eyes, “Don’t tell me you did what I think you did. Come on man! She has a boyfriend. You’re better than that.”
“I did nothing she didn’t want me to do.” I said, swinging my legs over the bed, “I’m going to shower and we can head to the ranch before the range.” He nodded his head and headed downstairs.
As I headed to the bathroom, there was a note on the sink. Typical Ollie. I looked at it and furrowed my brows.
I’m sorry.
God, I need to punch something.
