“You are my life,” Damon repeated as he held me with a gentle embrace. “And our lives will be good, no matter what they hold, as long as we’re together.”
He meant every word. I could feel it deep in my soul. It may have been the bond that brought these feelings to the surface, but it didn’t matter. It was real. This love was real. And he had given his freedom up to stay with me.
“I love you too, Damon,” I whispered, softly kissing the corner of his mouth.
After a few minutes of being locked in our embrace, Damon set me back on my feet. We clambered into the car just as Dad let out a loud snort.
Wide-eyed, Damon looked from me to the back seat. “When did your dad get here?”
“Your guess is as good as mine.” I shrugged.
