Vivid Dreams from the Past

Uneasiness settled in my chest as I stared up at the baroque ceiling of the bedchambers I shared with William. Strange dreams had again haunted me—dreams of a different land where horses and carts no longer existed. Instead, people in unusual dresses were transported around by metal creatures with no heartbeat. Women dressed in pants like men. Men in pants that did not look as they did now.
Is it magic? Is it the future? Exhaling a deep breath, I rolled onto my side, facing a sleeping William. He, indeed, was a handsome man. We had been married for many months, and each day brought joy and passion. However, even in the joy, moments of sorrow still plagued me. I missed Edward deeply… a pain that flowed from within my soul.
