Kaia Celene
"I am so tired." Alice exclaimed as we arrive home. After an interesting breakfast, Alice dragged me and Irene to her car and took us to the mall. It’s quite a long drive which makes things worst for me because Alice turns out to be very chatty; too chatty for my liking. We spent most of our time buying Alice’s clothes. She said she barely has enough clothes to wear and it is only right for a princess to own clothes. The only thing I feel grateful about the whole trip is having a new phone. With this I can contact my friends when I needed them. I got all their numbers memorized in case I lost my phone.
I saw Kade descending from the stairs and a smile formed on his lip as he saw us.
"Finally you're home; I thought you girls bought the entire mall." I smiled at him as he took the shopping bags from my hand and kissed my forehead. I bit my lip to hold the cringe I feel as his lips touched my forehead. I drifted my eyes from him when I heard a growl.
"Watch out Kade; you might lose your head. Kaia is Ashton’s mate." Alice commented.
"I know but I still love her no matter who her mate is.” Kade answered giving me a wink. Again we heard a growl and this time it was fiercer.
"Good evening sire. I didn’t know you were there.” I greeter him and he glared at me as he started to get closer.
"Call me Ashton, Kaia. Since I AM your mate..." he paused and took a glance at Kade. "...and you will be my queen, I suggest we should start treating each other in a civilized manner." he smiled at me which I returned with a doubtful look.
‘He’s up to something. Be careful.' Leah said.
'I can see that Leah.' that was the last thing I said before I blocked her out of my mind.
"I think we had enough drama for one day. I'll go ahead Kaia." Alice said as she made her way between me and her brother.
"I'll walk you to your room." said Kade.
"You are not going anywhere near her." Ashton growled grabbing my arm and pulling me behind him again. I gritted my teeth and squeezed my eyes shut. I’ve had enough of this s**t.
"Right. First of all, I am no one’s property and stop this stupid act King. I’m a worthless piece of rogue, remember?" I glared at him as I step in front of Kade.
"YOU.ARE.MINE." he growled which I returned with a snort.
"I was never and will never be yours Ashton." We were glaring at each other when we heard a high pitched voice approaching.
"Hi hon, did you miss me?" the same girl I saw in Ashton’s office came, grabbing Ashton's face and slamming her lips to his. Ashton automatically snaked his arm around her waist kissing her deeper. I winced as I felt a shot of pain in my chest.
Rolling my eyes, I took my shopping bags from Kade roughly and made my way to my room. I felt Irene and Kade behind me but I ignored them. Before coming upstairs I saw a glimpse of devilish grin from Ashton as he watched me leave.
He wants to play a game? Then I'll give him the best game he'll never forget. I was about to open the door when I hear Kade’s voice stopping me.
“Kaia wait.” Turning my head to him I waited for what he’s about to say.
“Are you okay? Ashton is an asshole, I know but you can reject hi---“
"I'm fine Kade. Do you really think a pup like him could actually hurt someone like me? Believe me Kade, I've been through worse pain than that." He gave me a sad smile and was about to give me a hug but I backed away. I know he really cares for me but I hate it when people worry about me. It makes me feel weak and vulnerable.
"Good night Kade." I opened the door and went into my room closing the door behind me. I placed my palm on my chest massaging it as I breathe in and out. The pain is still there but it’s bearable; like being pricked by a needle that is. I took another deep breath and went into my bathroom to have a nice cold shower.
After a long cold shower I slammed my body to the soft mattress of the bed feeling all the exhaustion from the past days.
~~~~~~
I woke up in a nice and peaceful field. Different kinds of flowers are blooming everywhere you look. It almost made me feel like home. But where exactly am I?
"Oh look at that stupid look on your face." I frowned as I heard the most familiar voice ever. I turned around and saw Alexia with her playful smirk.
"Let me guess. This is your doing. Nice place though." I smiled at her and gave her a tight hug.
"It's a good thing we had years of connection because it will be impossible to get into your dream. You're quite the stubborn one." she said breaking the hug.
"So what happened to you? And where are you right now? Sorry I can’t go home yet, I was chased by some hunters and I’m sure they’re still around the area looking for me; they saw Leah’s form." She sat on the ground and motioned me to sit beside her.
"I think I'm the one who’s supposed to ask you those questions and I know what happened to you that night. They don’t call me an ancient witch for no reason." I rolled my eyes at her while she gave me an innocent smile.
“Although I did not know what happened to you afterwards. Where are you right now? I tried locating you and I just can’t believe that you’re in the werewolf kingdom, or to be more specific in the werewolf castle. Are you really in the werewolf castle?” she asked. I took a deep breath and held a cold look on my face as I told her what happened.
"Holy f*ck!!! You have a mate?" I gave her an I-just-told-you-look.
"Okay, so on the night of Shane’s party I already noticed that something was wrong. I saw an essence of wolfsbane on the drink Jeremy gave me. I used a spell that lets me look into his mind to find some answers and I found out that he has nothing to do with it. I searched for you and I followed your aura. It led me to the deepest part of the forest far from the party. There I saw blood everywhere and I already have the feeling that, it's your doing."
"Since I knew you already left I went home to get some candles and to bring them to the place where you murdered Shane and some hunters. There I found out what really happened. I continued my research. Spying on Shane's family and looking into their family history and I found out that his family is the descendant of Atticus Ronan, one of the main scientist of----"
"Racial Research Development Laboratory also known as RRDL." I said finishing her sentence. My jaw clenched when I remembered that son of a b***h.
"Shane's grandfather is running a laboratory together with his son, Shane’s uncle and their main research is turning humans into werewolves." Humans like them are mad. They are obsessed about everything.
"The RRDL, is it still running?" I asked.
"That I didn't know but one thing is sure, they are trying to create a new RRDL." I let out a frustrated sigh. I should have killed their entire bloodline to put an end to their wicked minds.
"I will continue to gather information about the lab so for the mean time play with your mate and his w***e but remember to keep it low. Don't go breaking their bones when they get into your nerves." I chuckled at what Alexia said.
"I can't promise you that but I'll try. Be careful Alexia and when you're done come to me okay? And one more thing, when your situation gets difficult promise me you'll stop and escape." she smiled at me and gave me a tight hug.
"I promise." she whispered.
“Wait, how about school?” I asked.
She shrugged her shoulders and said, “I erased all their memories of us so there’s nothing to be worried about.”
“I’m so glad you’re alright Alexia.” I was about to say another goodbye when I felt a burning pain building inside my chest. Suddenly it was getting harder to breath.
"Kaia what's happening to you?" I can hear Alexia's worried voice but her face and everything that surrounds me is starting to get blurry. It's getting more painful by the minute.
"Kaia you have to wake up." Alexia demanded. This pain; I've felt it before but this is ten times more painful.
"Kaia wake up. I don't know what's happening to you and I can't do any spell while I am in your dream so please just wake up." Alexia shouted and I felt something wet dropped on my shoulder. I look up and saw tears in her eyes. I smiled.
"You silly girl, I'll be alright. I know exactly what's happening to me." I said on a hoarse tone.
"What's happening to you?" she asked again.
"THE PAIN OF BETRAYAL."
