Chapter 6 Beating Eva Up

1022 Words
Mr Wood was silent for a moment. "Mr Wood, I'm afraid you don't have a choice. But you can be assured that no one will hear about what happened in this club from me. That'd be shooting myself in the foot, since I'm taking over the business. As for the surveillance tapes I ask for, it's something personal. Consider this as a favor." Ann tapped her fingers on the document she had brought along. Mr Wood hesitated a moment before producing a box from his safe. "Miss Reed, the tapes are all here. I'll disappear right after taking the money. If there's nothing further, can I go now?" Mr Wood asked a bit timidly. "Of course." Mr Wood left with the check. Anna picked out the tapes belonging to the Reeds and said to Lily: "Destroy the rest." "Miss Reed, these might come in handy." "I didn't come this far through these dirty means. The Reeds is all I want. Destroy them." With that, Ann got up to leave. She stopped dead when she saw the words "Roy Lewis" on one of the videotapes. She grabbed it with a chuckle: "I'll have this one too. I assume you can handle the club without me. Is there anything else?" "No, ma'am. Just be careful. I've heard the Lewis family is a force to wreckle with, especially Mr Lewis." Lily said. Ann nodded and headed to her car. That was when Eva Reed's voice sounded from behind: "Ann, is that you?" Lily took out a needle, but Ann shook her head. Lily knew what she had to do. "This is not a cab. Move out of the way!" Lily shoved Ann away, before getting into the car and speeding off. Ann stood there, her eyes red from sobbing. "Ann, why are you here?" "Anny was chasing after the butterfly. Anny wants to go home." Ann sobbed. Well this, was what you might call improvise. "Ann, is Roy treating you well? How is their family treating you?" Eva took the opportunity to ask questions. Eva hadn't heard anything since Ann married Roy. What was happening? Did they have any suspicions? Was she safe now? Ann giggled: "Hubby is good to Anny. Hubby sleeps with Anny and wants Anny to be gentle. And hubby feeds Anny. Where is Anny's home? Anny wants to go home." With that, Ann made a sour face. Eva heaved a sigh of relief. Looked like Roy was really done for. Which person in his sane mind would sleep with a fool? Eva pulled her hand out of Ann's, and said impatiently: "Just wait here. Wait for your invalid of a husband to pick you up. Don't walk away, understood? Or else you'll be sent back to the hospital and get locked up!" Another threat. Eva Reed had been threatening her for the last three years. She had no one to count on back then; but now, she was Mrs Lewis. Eva could not just bully her and walk away. "Eva, Eva takes Anny home." Ann grabbed her hand, not willing to let go. "Let go of me! If you touch me again, I'll beat the sh*t out of you, and send you back to the hospital!" Eva pinched her arm and growled. Now! Ann raised her arm and slapped Eva across the face. The back of Ann's hand came in hard contact with Eva's cheek. Eva stood there, shocked. She covered her swollen cheek with her hand and exclaimed in disbelief: "You! How dare you slap me?! Do you want me..." The rest of her words was cut off, for Ann had pushed her on the floor and straddled her. She hit Eva with her fists, and yelled: "Anny will not go back to the hospital! Hubby says to beat anyone who wants to make Anny go back!" Muwahaha. This was an excellent chance to beat Eva up as much as she wanted. After all, who could blame a fool if the fool decided to beat someone? That someone in question was to be blamed, 'cause they should know better than getting into the fool's way! Eva screamed out of pain: "Stop it! Stop it, you lunatic! Help, somebody help!" There was no one around. But Ann stopped anyway. She got tired. It'd been three years. It was time to settle a score with them. Ann picked up Eva's purse, which had dropped on the ground during their fight, and took all the cash out of it. She said with a giggle: "Eva is the best. Eva gives Anny hubby, and now gives Anny money. Anny can take a cab and go home." It took quite a while for Eva to drag herself up. She yelled behind Ann: "b***h, you'll pay for this!" Ann ignored her. She muttered to herself: "Eva Reed, you're the one who's to pay. You'll live in hell for the rest of your life." At the Lewis residence. Roy asked between coughs: "When did the surveillance camera in the back yard stop working?" "Mr Roy, it was working this morning. I've sent some men to search for our mistress, but there's still no word. Maybe she went back to her home?" Judy looked completely innocent. "Judy, I said leave her alone." Roy gazed at her with sharp eyes. "Mr Roy, I really don't know when she sneaked out." Judy defended herself. Roy got up and walked out without a word. "Mr Roy, it's already getting dark. I've sent some men. You don't need to do this yourself. She's just a fool, anyway. Perhaps it's a good thing she's gone. She's not good enough for you." Judy stopped him. "Are you heartless? She's ill! Did you forget..." Roy trailed off, and continued after a moment: "Judy, don't make history repeat itself." "Mr Roy..." "Mr Roy, mistress is back." Molly announced. Judy's face darkened at these words. She didn't expect that fool to find her way home. Ann held her shoes in her hands, walking barefoot. She looked up at Roy, her thin form trembling: "Hubby, Anny is cold." Roy walked to her in strides, and scooped her up.
