[Chapter 15: Harmless Pranks??]
•>>———∘◦❁◦∘———(Elora / Brianna)
You know, I thought that whoever was pranking me did it just for the laughs and gags but I honestly think they're doing it as a hobby now.
There's literally something in my locker EVERY. SINGLE. DAY!
Like seriously!
First up was the slime, the next day I opened my locker to see it filled with trash. The third day, the things in my locker were WRECKED; but it wasn't that much of a problem since I just went to Elijah and asked him if he had any friends with restoration magic, luckily one of the student council had one and my things were as good as new.
Honestly, that wasn't the first time I had asked for his help regarding the locker pranking problem since I asked for his assistance when some of my books got ruined by the slime on the first day. He was such a big help and I really appreciate him for even giving me the time of his day! Well what can you say, the guy has a crush on me pfft.
Anyways, it was the fourth day that I opened my locker to see it filled with bugs. ALL TYPES OF BUGS. I opened it and some of the little creatures crawled out and the once near the sight screamed in panic and horror. It was such a funny sight. You'd think they were the ones who got the bugs and not me!
Anyways, I was pretty known by the entire girl population by now and earned the silly nickname, 'the locker girl'. First was barbaric woman and now the locker girl? Just who is coming up with these nicknames?!
Anywho! I could care less. Its not like it's a big deal and would affect me greatly. For all I know, it might even be a good thing since I'm getting famous with the pretty ladies... but I guess its not that good as well since I'm getting famous for such an embarrassing thing.
Eh who cares!
Anyways, I'm getting off topic. I took all the bugs to which I earned horrified and disgusted looks. Pweh! Must be nice having to grow up in a nice lavish environment to the point where bugs literally don't exist around you. Back in my old world, there's literally bugs crawling on our wall every minute. I often played a game of tag where I was the it and I would catch the bugs by smashing them with my hands. My mother would scold me though for dirtying myself and then she'd smack the side of my head. There was even that one time where I tried eating a bug since I wondered what it tasted like and it was HORRIBLE. Not advisable, don't eat bugs!
Okay, back to the topic! I took the bugs in my hand and embarked on a journey to the garden/greenhouse and unleashed the tiny creatures I had in my hand.
They scattered away and I smiled to myself knowing that they would help in the growing of the plants.
Some stuck to my hand and even crawled up my arm and as I was struggling to free them without hurting them, Sylver snuck up to me and scared me half to death.
I almost, ALMOST, beat him up but I restrained myself and focus on the task at hand.
He was looking at me amusedly throughout the entire thing and even commented on how it was his first time to see a 'lady' be so casual around bugs.
"Well, I'm no ordinary lady." Was my reply at the time and he only smiled before helping me get rid of the bugs that was stuck in my hair.
I hesitantly forgave him for scaring me half to death because of that.
Well that was the fourth day. Now, I'm walking to my locker wondering what wonders would surprise me next. Honestly, one could say that I'm excited as well.
"Hi Ella!"
"Good morning."
"Morning Ella~"
I smiled and greeted back to some of the girls that waved at me. Oh, did I forgot to mention that I'm friends with a lot of people now? That's one of the good thing I earned throughout my locker pranking experience.
I stopped in front of my locker with arms crossed as I tried thinking of what was inside it this time. Some of the ladies was standing from afar and watching me intently.
For the first few days, they were standing right next to my locker as they waited for me to open it. But I guess they were traumatized by the bugs that crawled out yesterday. Pfft. They're literally standing 3 feet away from me.
I placed my left ear against the locker and my brows furrowed to hear.. hissing?
A cat? Wait no..
I grinned to myself and opened it eagerly to find that my assumptions was right. It WAS a snake!
I can't help the wide smile that appeared on my lips upon seeing the green anaconda It's been a long time since I held an animal like this. Honestly, one can say that I'm an animal enthusiast. Even one of my dreams when I was a kid was to become a zoologist.
I held the large reptile in my hand and it quickly wrapped itself around my shoulders.
It was big! Like probably around 30 feet or so, I even had a hard time carrying it but thankfully it wrapped itself around my arms. Its scales were olive-green with dark oval spots on its spine, similarly it has oval spots with yellow centers along its side. The scales on its belly are yellow and black and it has two dark stripes from their eyes angling towards its. Luckily, it was a harmless snake. The person who probably did this just wanted to scare me and not poison me, but hah! Jokes on them cause I actually really like reptiles just as much as bugs.
My attention was cut away from the snake when I heard a thud behind me.
I looked back to see one of the girls had fainted and everyone was looking at me with wide eyes. Oops. Forgot they were here.
I got lost in my own world keke.
"Will someone please assist Aumbry. I'm just gonna take this away." I said and walked off, the girls offering a rather large path for me.
I was thinking of a plan on where I should put this thing. I can't possibly just put this at the garden like I did with the bugs since it might scare students who decided to have a nice fresh walk at the garden.
I wanted to take it home and make it my pet but we weren't allowed to visit home yet until one month unless it was an emergency.
*sigh*
I guess I have no choice again.
I walked in the direction of the student council and was about to knock on the door when it opened.
"I was waiting for y--" Elijah stopped talking and stared at me with wide eyes when he saw the reptile wrapped around my neck.
"Come again? You were waiting for me..?" I asked, my voice muffled by the reptile's body.
He ignored me however and reached out to take the snake off of me.
"I'm surprised you're not scared of snakes." I said and he just smirked and shrugged.
"I'm surprised YOU'RE not scared of snakes." I smirked and just shrugged and we both laughed.
"Anyways, I want to ask for your help... again. I just don't know where to put him." I said in a more serious tone and his brows furrowed after giving it some thought.
"Wait. Who is even doing this to you?! And a snake this time? Really?? It could've bit you--"
"Relax, it's harmless Its a green anaconda snake. The harmless of the bunch." I assured him, "I don't think the person that's doing this wanted to harm me." I added.
"Then what?"
My mind then trailed off to the note I often found along with the other stuffs they put in my locker. It always said the same exact thing but only the style of writing got more and more creepy and gruesome.
"It's to warn me." I muttered lowly.
"What?" He asked with a baffled expression on so I search for my uniform dress which conveniently had pockets in them and took the letter I took earlier along with the snake as well as all the other letters I've been getting last days.
I gave the small pieces of paper to him and he opened it one by one and read what was written inside. His gaze then turned dark and I even saw his eyes flicker to gold. At that moment, its as if I saw the same exact Elijah being described in the book. His expression was dark and scary, an ominous aura started to ooze out of him, and its as if he was ready to kill someone.
He felt so.. dangerous.
Like someone you wouldn't wanna get close to.
Then a thought came to me.
What's his power?... Come to think of it, it was never mentioned in the book. Like at all. Or have I forgotten about it again?
"..lora...? Elora??" I snapped out of my thoughts and looked up at him with wide eyes.
The dangerous aura coming off of him was gone now but his expression was still hard. Nonetheless, he looked calm and composed despite looking like he wanted to commit murder moments ago.
"Uh.. what?" I asked and shook my head to rid away all thoughts.
"Let's go to the principal. I'll inform her about your situation." He said then took my hand and dragged me behind.
"I'm fine Elijah. Its not that big of a deal. Besides what can the principal possibly do?"
"What do you mean you're fine?! Possibly you but not me--" He cut himself short at that. It was a shame that I was walking behind him making me unable to see his expression. And his fast steps were making it hard for me to catch up beside him.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked. I had the slightest bit of clue as to what he meant but I was still hoping I could hear it from directly from him.
"Stop underestimating your situation. The person that did this to you has a grudge on you. It'll only be a matter of time before these harmless little pranks turn into something life threatening." He said with a serious tone and I struggled to keep my eyes from rolling.
"Whatever you say Sherlock." I said in exasperation. Man, what did he even like in me? But even if he's having a crush on me now, the plot wouldn't just turn 360 right? He might be having a crush on me now but he could still fall for Angelina. She's the female lead after all.
"Sherlock? Have you forgotten my name?? Who even is Sherlock?!" He asked and I burst into laughter.
He looked back at me with a confused look and that made me laugh even harder.
Even as we arrived in our destination a few seconds later, my laughter still didn't die down. Only it reduced to small giggles and chuckles as I kept remembering how confused he was on who Sherlock is.
"How did you even find humor in what I said? It was a genuine question." He asked with raised brows and amused expression but I only laughed and shook my head.
"It's nothing. You wouldn't understand even if I explain it anyway." I said with a giggle and took a deep breath before calming down.
"Let's go." He said after a few seconds of silence and he knocked twice before walking in, not even waiting for the principal to invite us in. But I guess it was fine if it was him, he's the nephew of the King of Sequoia after all. And the king is very close friends with the Arcane Academy's principal.
"What is it Eli-- whoah, that's a huge snake. How did it even get in here?" The old principal said and her eyes trailed to me. She assessed me with squinted eyes before finally turning to that of recognition.
"Hi.. hehe." I waved awkwardly and she smiled at me.
"Its you again. You two know each other?" Her eyes focused on Elijah as she said that.
"The same could be said to you. You two know each other?" Elijah shot back the question to her and she chuckled.
"Well, it would be hard to forget the girl who angered lady Sevilla." She said and Elijah looked at me with wide eyes and I just shrugged.
"Furthermore, she was slapped real hard by--"
"YOU WERE SLAPPED?!" Again I shrugged at him and crossed my arms.
"I don't see the point in this. We came here to inform the principal about my situation right? So why are you worrying about useless things that happened in the past?" I said to him with one eyebrow raised and he avoided my gaze to look at nowhere as he dived into thought.
I just sighed and the principal chuckled.
"So it was that..." I heard him whisper and I looked at him with furrowed brows but he wasn't looking at me anymore.
"Anyways, she's right. We came here to inform you about someone that's been handing her these." He said as he placed the pieces of paper in her desk.
Her brows furrowed as she assessed the notes one by one.
"You better watch out. Stay away from him, he's mine." She read the first note which was when there was slime filling my entire locker.
She examined the rest of the notes quietly this time. It still said the same thing as the first one, only the first sentence was gone for the rest of it.
She placed it back down the table and massaged the side of her forehead. Poor lady probably already has a lot on her plate and she still has to worry about stuffs like this as well.
"Why are you giving this to me? Aren't you suppose to handle stuffs like this Elijah? I appointed you as the president of the council for a reason." She said.
"Yes, I know, but we investigated it and found no traces that leads to the perpetrator at all. There were traces of magic on her locker and we traced who the magic belonged to but we only found guys that didn't even know what we were talking about. Its either they've sworn to not talk about anything or someone used manipulation on them." Elijah explained and I gasped.
"There's someone with that degree of magic?" I asked and he nodded his head.
"You'd be shocked to know that there are much more powerful magics than that." He said and my mouth formed into an 'o' as I nodded my head.
Even though manipulation already sounds strong enough... I wonder who has the strongest magic in planet Allea?
Well if we're talking about titles, I probably have the title of the only person with no magic if that were the case.
*sigh* must be nice having magic.
"Okay, okay I get it. You can just leave the snake here and I'll order someone to take care of it." I heard the principal said and Elijah nodded his head. I didn't even realize they were talking all this time. I can't believe I got lost in thought even though I'm the subject of their topic.
"Are you gonna kill him..?" I mumbled and the principal looked at me with furrowed brows.
"What?"
"The snake.. are you gonna kill it...?" I asked with sadness lacing the tone of my voice. I didn't want the snake to get killed if that's what she meant by 'taking care of it'. It didn't do anything and was only dragged into this mess by the perpetrators of the locker pranking mess.
I snapped out of my thoughts when the principal chuckled, "I'm not gonna get it killed dear. Don't worry, that's not what I meant by taking care of it." She said with a soft smile and I sighed in relief.
"Thank goodness." I said as I held my chest.
"Let's go." Elijah said and I looked at the snake one more time before looking at the principal with a smile as I finally went out the door that was held open by Elijah.
"Thank you Elijah." I said as he walked me towards my second class.
"What did you talk about anyway?... I may or may not have gotten lost in thought at the middle of your conversation." I laughed embarrassingly and he only chuckled at that.
"Nothing much. I just told her how you've been getting random things in your locker and each day was getting worse than the other." He said and I nodded my head.
Thinking about it now, he's right. It is getting worse as the day goes by but I probably just didn't give it much thought since it really didn't bother me that much. Its either Elijah would help me fix it or it doesn't bother me at all, like the bugs and the snake. Pfft, the perpetrator was probably watching the scene and expected me to react the same as the other girls did.
Wait..! The perpetrator was watching the scene....
If he or she was watching near the area, then it's a girl.
Wait! IT IS A GIRL!!
Considering how the note says to 'stay away from him', then it's highly plausible that it would be a girl.
But you wouldn't know! Even though I'm at this era doesn't mean that guys can't fall for guys as well.
But if I put the era in consideration, then it is a girl that did this.
That's it! Ha! I'm so smart. If I tell this to Elijah then I at least can be of help in some way.
"Eli. I just figured something out." I called out to Elijah and he looked at me with furrowed brows.
"What did you just call me?" He asked and my brows furrowed.
"Eli. It's a shortcut." I shrugged and he nodded his head absentmindedly seeming to not bother but I was able to see his pink cheeks.
"Ahem.. what? What is it?" He faked a cough as he placed his fist in front of his mouth and I fought a chuckle that wanted to escape my lips.
"Anyways, I figured out the gender of the perpetrator. It's a girl!" I said with a wide smile on my face as if I figured out something great like finding the cure to a deadly virus.
Elijah's face didn't change as he nodded his head with a placid expression, "Yeah, we figured that out already." He said with a monotone voice and my smile immediately flipped upside down.
Just as I thought I was able to help, turns out they've already figured it out way before me.
"Hey, don't be sad! It's still great that you figured it out in your own though." He said and I looked at him and he had a soft smile on his face.
"Thanks." I said with a smile and he blushed at that for some reason.
Seriously! This dude is making me more confused and conflicted about the plot of the story.
And where is the female lead anyways?
