Cedric went every month to see a famous doctor. The doctor had a partnership with the military in the Ontario federation, so the man could easily get access to treatment.
However, so far he had chosen to use his own funds rather than the funds prepared by the military. This was because he had thought carefully for the past few years, he would leave the military.
The traitors who came were basically not just anyone, whether they were from the enemy or from the Ontario troops. The man did not want to take risks, it was better for him to check everything in detail before taking any further action. Even if he had to give up his glorious position.
Cedric sighed. His long legs could be moved again but were still too weak to walk normally.
Mrs. Ortega took a few steps back seeing the scene. Her pupils trembled and she hurriedly held the door panel to lean on. "You! You! What did you do to my daughter?"
The middle-aged woman trembled, the figure in front of her did not look like the loser she had been scolding cruelly.
Cedric frowned, he looked at his mother-in-law with a confused look. "I didn't do anything."
"Why, why are you standing?" Mrs. Ortega asked, her voice shaking. She walked backwards unconsciously. Cedric's intimidation was no joke, able to shake the hearts of anyone around him.
"Because I'm cured," the man answered calmly. His tone was as usual, but seeing his current posture, anyone would tremble just by his tone that didn't have much emotion.
Mrs. Ortega frowned, she suddenly regained her courage and immediately shouted, "You! You pathetic bastard! You're a burden to the Ortega family, how dare you be rude to me?"
Cedric was stunned, the man looked confused for a moment. "I behaved as usual," he replied.
Hearing that, Mrs. Ortega became even more annoyed. She hit the door hard while glaring. "How dare you talk back to me huh? You useless bastard! Get out! Don't stay here anymore! Stop being a burden to the Ortega family!"
"What?" Cedric was stunned.
"Are you deaf?" The middle-aged woman looked even angrier, she stepped in and pushed Cedric's tall body until the man fell. He had just been able to stand up and his legs had not adapted well. "Get out of this house immediately! You have been a burden for a long time! Now my daughter wants to divorce you, so you are no longer part of this family! Don't expect you to still be accepted here!"
Cedric was still stunned, he stared at his mother-in-law for a few moments before finally nodding helplessly. He tried to stand up again with difficulty and walked away from Edith's study.
Cedric had now re-channeled the meridians in his legs that were previously damaged and caused him to become disabled. Coupled with the late treatment, the injury became even more difficult to heal. The damage was accompanied by a blockage of qi which caused his cultivation to return to the lowest level two so far.
Previously, as a high-ranking military leader and a five-star hero, Cedric had such a high cultivation. His understanding of the martial world was no longer in doubt.
In the secret martial arts of ancient China, cultivation levels were divided into several levels. The cultivation levels from lowest to highest are elementary, warrior, master, grandmaster, and legend. Because of the injury, Cedric had to fall from the grandmaster level back to the warrior level.
The elementary level is not much different from ordinary people with slightly greater strength. And the warrior level is in a much higher range. But in the end it still can't be compared to the grandmaster level.
His current condition was also the reason Cedric chose to resign from the military.
"Even if I die, I will never hand my company over to you!" Edith's cry was heard. The woman's voice was hoarse and very sad.
Cedric's heart tightened unconsciously. The man quickened his pace, he limped trying to reach the source of the voice.
Finally he arrived at the Ortega family's meeting room. The door was wide open so the man could enter easily.
Immediately, a view of a large room was visible. The room was painted gold with a red carpet stretching from the door to the opposite end. There, there was an altar three steps high with a red chair in the middle.
The figure of the Ortega family matriarch, Old Lady Ortega, Madame Florence, sat there majestically. Her figure looked so tough against her old age. The old woman even still showed undeniable firm lines.
Below, several members of the Ortega family gathered, they seemed to be divided into two camps. Edith stood on the right side, alone. And on the other side, Edith's brother, Evan, with a number of people standing behind him. It was clear how unfair the defense in this family looked.
"You just need to sign for a new project! Don't you want our family company to progress?" Evan asked loudly. He glared at his sister angrily. "Are you crazy?"
"You're the crazy one!" Edith shouted no less angrily. "Do you think I'm stupid? You want to force me to transfer my ownership of shares in Ortega's company. Don't act like you're a hero, Evan!"
"Those are just small shares! I can still replace them with some money. How many million dollars do you want?" Evan snorted loudly, he took out a stack of checks from his pocket. "Now sign!"
"I don't want your money!" Edith looked away angrily. "Don't cross the line Evan. I've let you take over my position in Ortega's company. And now you want to seize my shares? Don't even dream about it!"
"Edith, don't you want to give in to your brother? You're older anyway, you should give in." The other family members immediately retorted.
Some also nodded, looking at Edith with judgment. "No matter how Evan thinks about the company's progress, why are you being so selfish?"
"Whatever you think, anyway, I won't give up the shares no matter what. So please don't force me!"
