Chapter 11- Strangers at the gate ps I do NOT condone bullying of anykind. however it does happen. use as a teachable moment

Sampson

They dare to threaten Mate. Our beautiful Kainda. Innocent Peanut and her pack of innocents. My brother Tobias and I run hard making a full pass of the land.

*What now brother?* Tobias asks in mind speak.

*We know their story is true. That they ran. Mates' hands tell the stories of the abuse. Now we have confirmation of who to watch out for and who to take out. Yet somehow we still have holes. Why the bounty?*

*Agree. We need to keep her and the others safe until we find out more.*

*Let's get back to mate* we turn to the pack house just as the sky is changing. It is that morning before the morning grey. We enter the house as wolves as a few others are coming out. Teagan was smart when he put the house together.

The doors have the lever style that even as wolves we can open. Lights have the larger pad that we can easily hit. So we can get all the way to our room as wolves. We jump up one the bed and cuddle down with our mates. It is not often when we get let out to roam or just be. So we take advantage of the opportunity.

Bessa

I wake with a passie in my mouth, a teddy in one arm and a fist full of fir in the other. I am awake for about 30 seconds. Rolling over to bury my nose in french toast.and passing back out.

Mouse

I wake the next time to the twins crawling in to bed, in wolf form. It is time for me to be up anyways. So I shower and dress before checking on Baby Girl and making sure she has her passie and head out.

Beast

I fell asleep with the littles tucked around me. Tosh on one arm. Ben on the other and Alley stretches across my chest. I made rounds to the other kids until I had gotten the all clear. Then made one more stop at The Littles. As I get to know them I get to know Mate. The pups are special to her. Therefore they mean the world to me. Nothing will happen to them.

Teagan

I know Sampson doesn't like that Peanut is threatened. He needs time with Bessa and Kainda just like he needs time with Beast, Angel, Mouse and all of their wolves. The watch is as tight as I can make it without raising suspicion.

* We will just have to keep the pups close.* Sampson suggests.

*May have to stop having them in school. I can get a pack member to tutor all of the kids.* is my response.

* Keep Luna public. Say the kids have gone on to homes. It is only a little lie. But no dungeon Luna would hate us for it.now go to sleep, two legs.*

*You too, old fart* I jest back with a smile. I curl up on the bed I have in the back of my mind for nights like this.

Bessa

I wake to being squished between two big black wolves. I squirm my way out from between them. As I make my way to the bathroom I realize that I still have the passie in my mouth. It gives me pause but I leave it. I go potty then make my way back. If the twins are letting their wolves on the bed I guess Kainda could get away with it too. All though three alpha wolves on one bed might be much…

*Kainda? Do you want to sleep next to mates?*

*Is the sky blue? Am I a wolf? Let me out, woman.*

I smile and strip off the pjs. Kainda jumps forward and the next step I...we take is of a wolf. Four steps and a leap and we are snuggling in on top of the boys.

There seems to be a peace that soaks through all of us and we sleep a little more soundly.

Beast

I wake up to three things. Not sure what was first. Alley's knee where it counts,the loud bang from down the hall or all the alarms in the house going off. Do not worry, it is just about 30 alarm clocks telling pups to get up for school.

Which that alone is odd. Normally Bessa would have woken the little pups for school. Guess I get to today. Soon there is a knock on the door. It is Marie to help the littles.

"How about you get the girls ready and I will help Ben?"

"Yes, Gamma."

I take Ben to my room and get him ready there. Then send him to the dining room. Leaving him with the Omegas there. I go to check on the other kids. Finding them almost ready I head up to Alpha's room to see what might have happened.

As I open the door I get an interesting sight. Two night black wolves and a calico looking one all three the size of a small horse piled on top of a broken bed.

"Lucy! You have some splainin to do." I say in my best sing-song voice Ricky Ricardo. I smile and chuckle. Then I totally lose it when I get three glares.

"The kids are in the dining room and ready for school in case you were wondering." I say as I strut over to Kainda to give her an affectionate scratch. Only to see she is bolting out the door.

"I think we are going to need a bigger bed. Soon" I turn as the twins shift and move to get dressed.

"I think the kids should stay close to us. Even if it means them getting a tudor until this all blows over." Teagan announces

"We need to step up the game on getting as many into their own families. So there is NO way for the Aurora falls to get them back." Angel states.

"I will step up training all around." I say with a growl of my own.

We are all dressed fresh and head to the upstairs dining room to eat with the kids.

When we walk in the room goes quiet. They can tell something is up. Before anyone can speak, a different set of alarms go off and Teagan stiffens as he listens to the pack.

"Luna, you and the pups stay here with Mouse for now." Angel says beating me to the punch. We head out on Teagan's heels. Closing them in with the security doors on our way out.

"It is them." Teagan comes back to us just as the doors close. "Beast guard the door. No one comes up here. Got it?"

"Yes, Alpha"

Teagan

"Angel I need you to keep me in check. I so want to rip heads off. We don't need a war." I bark orders as I head to the front door. "Tiffany, Send some breakfast to the conference room. Make sure there is coffee." I say as I stop an Omega.

As I get to the door I see two of my lieutenants blocking the door. I tap one on the shoulder.

"Alpha," he nods to me and backs up a couple of steps. "These are warriors from the Aurora Falls pack. Gentleman Alpha Marshall and Beta Marshall. "

"Thank you lieutenant, relive The Gamma and send him to me. Gentleman I was about to have a coffee. This way." I lead them to the conference room. I also have someone get Doc matias.

When we get there I get some coffee. I share a knowing look with Angel. We wait for the others to get there.

"So, what is it, I can do for you guys?" I ask as I look into the abyss of my coffee.

"We followed a scent, that is of interest to us, to this house. We would like our pack members back."

"How do you know they are here?I think we would have known about any rogues. " I look to the guys to confirm. They all nod that we would have known.

"They are not rogues. We scented them to here and couldn't find anything leading away. One came here and the others stopped at a cabin not far from here."

"Well if they are pack, why don't you just link with them?"

"Their link snapped like the dead a few days ago. We didn't know they had esc...left. until they didn't show for their shift. Then the link. We have been trying to track them since."

"Do you know if they left for a reason? How long ago was this?"

"They left about two weeks ago. As for a reason, I don't know. " he says getting fidgety.

He reeks of lies and fear. I take another sip of coffee.

"Do you have descriptions of these wolves?"

"This is what we have for them. They are orphans, most of them are under 18. The oldest can not be compelled by Alphas."

"The littlest is a f*****g toddler. Why are you waiting until now if they left two weeks ago?" Doc gets his panties in a bunch.

Goddess I love that man. Not like Luna and our mates, but I love him.

"We have scouts hunting too. They are the ones that circled the pack lands. They said something wasn't right when they stopped here."

"Are...Are you calling MY Alpha a liar?" Beast asks as he comes to full height busting his coffee cup with bare hands.

The warriors look like they want to piss their pants. I have to hide my laughs behind my cup.

"I suggest you guys get out of here before you piss him off." Angel says in that creepy, calm and quiet voice that gives me chills and I am his twin.

"Be gone" I bark. They can't get out fast enough.

After Beast follows them out the front door. "I suggest you come with us. We may need you with the council." I turn to Doc. Patting him on the shoulder and leading the way to our dining room.

As we open the doors Peanut jumps into my arms like the hounds of hell are after her. tears streaming down her face. I wrap her legs around my hips as she burying her head in my neck. I couldn't pull her off if I wanted to with her death grip. I plant my butt on the back of the couch and hold on tight.

"The door." That's all Mouse says.

That is all he needed to say. I feel like an ass. I was only thinking of their safety not of what had happened. Mouse even looks broken by it.

"Angel can you catch everyone up. Doc I want you to make sure everyone has a clean bill and if not, Document the hell out of it. I am taking Peanut to her room." I hitch her a little higher on my hips as I walk down the hall.

Angel

"Mac & Max your up. C-man why don't you take everyone to play in the little's room for now. One of us will get you guys as we are ready for you."

"Yes, Beta." Is all C says

"What about school?" Of course Alley asks.

"We need to take care of some things before you can go today. It actually might be a while before you go back. And before you ask I will send Beast to come play with you guys when he gets back." And that gets her to smile. And run off to catch up with the others.

"Those kids are cute."

"Those kids have been through hell, Doc. But I think it is better coming from the horse." Looking to M&M. "Do you guys think you are ok with that?"

"Yes, Beta" they say in unison after a look to each other.

"Is it that creepy when T and I do that?" I ask Doc.

"Yes. Now let them tell the story."

By the time they are done I can't tell if Doc is going to throw up or pass out. He is green, pale and his wolf is flashing in his eyes like a strobe light.

Mouse puts a bottle of jack and five shot glasses down on the table.

"You kids never had this if anyone asks." He says as he pours.

About that time Teagan walks in. Snatches my shot glass and refills it for himself.

"The mess our mate is in is not from a pack member that was 'just unhappy'. That Fucker tried to hide the word escape. From what I understand those kids barely survived. I have seen warriors come back with LESS physical scars and not be able to smile or live. You think the stories turned you colors? Take the bottle and look at your Luna.

I am sorry Mac and Max. Let the kids have another day of normal.

Angel take Beast and a couple more. Escort the kids to school. There is to be a guard in EVERY classroom until further notice and training for pups is moved to the gym with guards there.

Doc if you will and don't forget the bottle. I wasn't kidding." I leave and go to Peanut.

She is still the way I left her. In shorts and a tank top. It was hard to see the scars. I had Marie change her for me. Her body was riddled with them. I hold my finger to my mouth and then link with Doc and Angel.

*She cried herself to sleep in my arms. No matter how many times I told her she was safe or that I was sorry. She cried. It was like she could not hear me. I kept telling her I love her.*

*This may be one of those cases where you have to show her.* He takes another look at her file from the old pack. *She has dealt with this since she was Alley's age. That is a long time. To have her wolf and not be able to allow her to use it. Must have devastated both her and her wolf.* I left her shirt raised a little after rubbing her back as she fell asleep. Knowing Doc would need to have a look, for when we talked with the council of elders.

Doc does his best trying not to wake her. I can see him trying to control his wolf. His eyes keep flashing. Sometimes it is the hair on his arms popping in and out. I wish I could ask her wolf some questions so I didn't have to ask her. I don't think I could handle the wrong answer on top of this. Just thinking about all she went through even without knowing that as a possibility.

I climb in next to her and hold her. Gently shifting her body so Doc can see other spots of her innocent body. I don't think this body or child knows what unconditional love is. She went to those monsters at the age of three years old.

As I lay here with her I feel my face become wet. So I bury my face in her hair.

Doc doesn't say anything, just turns out the light and walks out closing the door. Taking the bottle with him.

I lay there quietly crying with a few hiccups.

Bessa

I wake to the smell of rain, woods and…tears? A heavy arm across my stomach tells me I am not alone. It comforts me when, had it been anyone else, before coming here, I would have freaked out. Instead I shimmy to face him.

I wipe away his tears and kiss his eyes. My kisses follow the path of the tears to his mouth. I don't hesitate to kiss him. I gasp a little when he pulls me tight to him. He deepens the kiss when I do. His mouth is more gentle than Beast. They still explore every nook and cranny. Pleading with his gentle kiss. Begging with his search. Almost like he is apologising for something. What I don't know.

I stop his hands as they start to roam. I don't want him to know about the scars. We pull back from kissing. Looking into his eyes. I see he knows and he is sorry. For the pain, fear and lies that I endured.

I give him a gentle kiss on the lips to let him know I am ok. We lay there a while talking through our eyes. Our hands are the only thing touching. We may have the mate bond that will bring us together, but this is so much deeper, intimate and therefore cherished even more.

Eventually Angel, Beast and Mouse come and join us. we all snuggle tight. Each one of them asking for their kiss. We lay there like that until there is a knock on the door.

"Dogpile." Alley cat comes bounding in hollering. Breaking any tension there might have been. I giggle as I catch her and tickle.

And the day starts to move again.

"I was told to come get you guys for dinner." She announces as she snuggles in. "We all did our homework already. Doc told Marie that we needed to have ours up here. So we are just waiting on you lazy people to get a move on."

"Oh really?" Teagan and Angel say in unison reminding me how much alike they are.

Angel scoops up the squealing Alley. While Beast throws me over his shoulder. We all Head to the dining room on this floor.

The other kids are all seated with Doc I presume.

Angel gets Alley seated, then takes me from Beast and places me in Mouse's lap. Who decides he needs to feed me. I let him needing to be close. The tenderness continues throughout the night.

"I would like to do exams for all of the kids. I have looked through the files and think it would be a good idea to give them shots they should have had. Max, Mac and Tess shouldn't need them. They came into the care of your old pack at an older age." Doc asks. "It would also help when we talk with the council. Which representatives will be here at the end of the week. Sorry Alpha, I didn't think this matter should wait any longer after what happened earlier today. The sooner they are in our custody the sooner they are safe."

"What happened earlier today?" I ask. I can feel the blood rush from my face and my hands go clammy. Mouse pulls me tighter to him and starts rubbing my back.

" Alpha Bessa, some of your old pack was here. I didn't want any of them to know you and your pack was here. That is why the door was locked." Teagan responds with a tone that says he is trying to get me into a business mind set. That he was trying to protect both packs.

"I, Alpha of the Orphan pack,who does not have a Doc of our own except your offer to stand in." I say after nodding. "Mac and Tess will help the girls change into shorts and tanks. Max can you help Ben change into just shorts? The rest of you boys will also need to be in shorts, no shirt as well. Will that work for you Doc?"

"That should be good."

"Alpha Teagan, a word please."I request.

"Busted" my pack says.

After everyone is done eating we go our ways.

Teagan and I head to the kitchen itself to talk. He brings me up to speed. By the end, to say I am scared is an understatement.

"You are safe. I won't let ANYONE hurt my pack. Your pack is part of mine. My jobs is to carefore and lead the pack. That other pack is a disgrace to all packs. They should never have treated you that way." He says as he pulls me close.

"Is that why you were upset?" I ask, my voice seeming to go small.

"That and what your shirt hides. Marie put you into pjs. She told me about the marks. I saw some of them when I had Doc take a look earlier. After M&M told him what they could." Holding me tighter as I start to cry all over again.

"The guys are standing watch at the school. Training has been moved indoors. I have two of my lieutenants standing at the end of the corridor. You guys are safe." He finishes. We stand that way for a while.

Mouse comes into the kitchen and holds out a hand.i take his hand and he leads me back to my room.

Teagan

It broke me to see Peanut crying again because of me. After Mouse took her away I went to sit with Doc. Beast is guarding the door and Angel is already helping Doc with the kids.

I take Angel's spot and he gets both Bessa's files for the kids and the old pack records. Starts adding Doc's info to them. I encourage the kids to tell about their scars and stories of how their day was at the old pack. Filling in more of the pictures for us.

The pack wolves start crying to Goddess Luna, for their Luna's broken heart. They felt my sorrow through the link. My wolf along with the guy's crying out.

Little Alley comes running to me. Patting my leg.

"What baby?" I ask pulling her on to my lap and cuddle.

"Why are they crying like that?" She asks, looking sad.

"They cry for your pack. They feel my sadness and cry with me." She holds my face and looks at my eye...or should I say Sampson's eyes. I didn't even realise that we were both looking out. Then the cutest thing happened. She throws her head back and lets loose a howl of her own. Followed by her pack calling out too.
