1886 Words
Damian woke up very early but with a very heavy head, he couldn’t really remembered what happened to him, everything was fuzzy and in bits but he didn’t think too much about it. He rose to his feet and started doing his morning routine like nothing happened. He put on his sweatpants and shirts, slipped into his sneakers, plugged in his headphones before going about his morning jog which she felt she had ignored for quite a while…after 30mins he was back inside the house, he grabbed himself a bottle of water and drained it down, then he walked back upstairs to his room to get freshened up for the day. The day was Friday so everyone in the house was probably sleeping in…their weekends always starts on Fridays, sometimes he decides to go to school sometimes not and that day, he concluded he was staying in, he decided to play some video games instead, except the fact that his mother came knocking on his door.   “Hi mom” He smiled opening the door wide for her to come in. She was in a blanket robe, which means she just got out of bed.   “Damian” Diana squealed gathering her son in her arms, something Damian found rather odd.   “Mom is everything okay?” He queried immediately his mother set him free.   “I’m so glad you’re okay? Last night your friends brought you back unconscious; I was worried to death” Diana heaved a heavy sigh of relief but Damian just raised her finger to scratch his head out of confusion.   “I don’t remember much what happened?” He inquired and Diana smiled before leading him to his bed so they both could sit.   “I got a call at work saying you’ve been poisoned and rushed to the hospital…if only you knew how worried I was on hearing that” Diana exhaled deeply while staring at Damian’s perplexed expression.     “You really don’t remember?” Diana asked with a shocked expression and Damian nodded. I don’t really remember much, just…running down to the cafeteria hall because one of the strange boys threatened to hurt Danielle, I don’t recollect much” Damian was starting to get worried about the missing part of her memory, wondering where they went and what really happened.   “It doesn’t matter anymore…all it matters is that you and Danielle is safe” Diana smiled before standing from Damian’s bed.     “Come downstairs, I’ll ask for Isabel to make your favourite food. Danielle will be so happy that you’re home” Diana quickly led his son out of his room and towards the direction of Danielle's room but before they got there, Elle came out humming the songs blasting through the headphones she had plucked in. She raised her head only to meet Damian’s eyes…he was awake! It downed on her and she immediately met his brother in a hug which added to the confusion expressed on Damian's face.   He started to wonder what really happened that made his family changed overnight, they were acting too warm and it scared it a little, not that he hated it, he just fear whatever had happened must have scared them for real.   He followed his family to the dining room while studying their every actions hoping to recall what happened to him but none of his memories were triggered. He grabbed a kitchen napkin and get himself ready to eat but he was shocked by the figure of Isabel as she left the kitchen to serve his breakfast.   “What the f**k!” He exclaimed staring at the one eye situated above Isabel's steep nose.   “Is is Halloween?” Damian questioned the maid who managed to get the food on the while hiding her look of terror and panic.   “What is it?” Elle questioned staring back at Isabel who was looking quite normal to her.   “Hold on a second, is that one eye a costume or you really have one eye?” Isabel’s heart raced in her chest upon hearing Damian’s observation, she was now starting to worry.   “Damian, what are you talking about?” Diana asked her son whose gaze were locked wit Isabel’s one eye. Damian turned  towards the other maids in the room looking closely at everyone but none of them seems to have one eye like Isabel, was he seeing things, he wasn’t quite sure.   “Um…nothing, I’m probably seeing things” Damian muttered but Diana had her worries spelt out on her face.   “Are you sure? You’re really feeling okay? Do you want want me to call our family doctor?” Diana bombarded Damian with question out of worries but Damian just stood.   “I don’t feel like having breakfast just yet…maybe I can-eat it later” He concluded his statement before immediately heading towards the stairs and straight for his room where he slammed the door behind him.   “Do I have to start seeing things right now? What exactly happened to me?” Damian soliloquizes while pacing his room. After several minutes, a soft knock landed on his door and he opened only to find Isabel standing with a tray of food in her hand.   “Um, thanks” He awkwardly took the tray from her hands while trying not to meet her one eye before taking the food to his table which stood in front of his small sofa at the corner where his game play station was situated.   “Your mom worried you might be hungry and just being restless” Isabel talked. Damian had known Isabel since he was just nine. Isabel was 21 at the time, she had been walking for his mom since then and they seem to get along just fine, there was a time he was pretty close to Isabel, when he was going through tough adolescence and always seems to rebel against his mother, Isabel had offered him some good advises to get over it.   Isabel is a young demon who since birth had lived in the human realm and enjoyed a human life since she was just half demon, her father married human before he passed away shortly after she was born, she knew Damian sudden gift of sight was connected to the group of angels that had showed up at their mistress door the previous day. It made her mad that her normal life was about to be jeopardized by that…Isabel had short jaw-level styled hair, dark gray eyes before Damian started seeing things, though her brows are bushy she doesn't look unkempt…she was a girl of medium height and lean figure; Damian know her to be awkward and shy around strangers.   “Damian, there’s something-   “If it’s about what I said I was seeing at the dining table, I’m so sorry…I didn’t mean to insult you…it’s just-” Damian raised his head up. “You have one eye right now; I am seeing things and I don’t know why or how and I’m really sorry I put you in an awkward situation back there” Damian apologized but Isabel felt even guilty.   “Your friends, the ones who brought you in yesterday…I think they might have a solution” Isabel shyly speak.   “Why do you think so and who are those friends you speak off?” Damian didn’t hide his cluelessness nor his confusion but Isabel didn’t know this…knowing he might have crossed the boundaries by telling her that, she quickly tried to leave.   “I’m so sorry, forget I said anything like that” Isabel tried to hurry away but Damian swiftly blocked her before she could even hold the doorknob.   “Please, let me go…what you are experiencing right now is more complicated than you could ever imagine” Isabel simply replied and Damian glued himself to the door while studying Isabel at that angle he was in.   “I’m not seeing things am I?” Damian asked after a short while of awkwardly staring at Isabel who just blinked nervously upon his questions.   “You really do have one eye? I am not seeing thing” Damian sounded like he was trying to convince himself rather than trying to ask her.   “What are you?” Isabel gulped at the questioned and her heartbeat started to race again.   “If you don’t tell me; right now…I will tell my mom” Damian threatened and Isabel take a step back.   “Look, Damian…I know it’s hard for you right now because I might actually be the first of abnormalities you see but…I can’t start meddling in your affair-   “Why not!?” Damian snapped.   “Because you are involved with an opposite race from mine, you want answers..then find your friend…I think her name is Helen is it; she said you were close to a girl name Crystal, they brought you home yesterday, maybe they can answer your questions, only they can…I mean, they showed up one day and you were gifted sight right on the second day? It’s not a coincidence…look for them and ask them why you can suddenly see the abnormalities of the world…and mind you, I won’t be the only different being you’ll be seeing. They are many out there, you shouldn't look them in the eye…try to treat them as indifferently as you could” Isabel concluded before pulling Damian from the door so she could leave.   “Helen…Helen and Crystal brought me home? This is so frustrating” Damian said out loud after Isabel left before he started looking around for his phone  but he had no idea where he had dropped it.   “How can I seriously get in touch with Crystal?” Damian groaned out in frustration before making up his mind to visit school.   Changing his casual clothes into a more suitable clothes for outdoor, he added his hoodie to the mix before he grabbed his headphones and headed downstairs to check if Crystal was at school probably she’ll be able to explain things to him.   “Where are you going?” Elle demanded to know while folding her hands as she walked fastidiously towards him.   “I don’t remember giving you a report anytime I’m heading out” Damian quipped while Elle frowned.   “I’m just worried about you, you just came back home half dead yesterday and here you are ready to whisk away again…how will you come back this time? Roasted!” Elle hissed but Damian only frowned at her statement.   “Isabel told me Helen and Crystal brought me here-   “Helen not Crystal; she just wanted us to confirm you are friends with Crystal.   “I have to see Crystal, I have things to clarify with  her” Damian informed before turning towards the main door.     “Wait..wait…let me come with you” Elle sloppily replaced her fluffy slippers with ballerina flats.   ‘At least she’s properly dressed’ Damian thought to himself as he briefly scanned his sister’s dressing which was a plaid skirt and brown jacket that matched with the flats she was wearing, she raced after Damian who instead of asking to be driven conclude to take the bus but came to regret his decision immediately he stepped outside the gate of their mansion.   -------
