Vera was extremely disturbed by the news she was given about the herself, she couldn’t even see the Philosopher she was introduced to before she left the throne room to catch a breath…though she never admitted it to anyone, she hated her existence. She wished she wasn’t born so different…she wished to be a normal angel like every other angel not a threat that had the city almost empty.
Yes, Claus was running different operations without her knowledge but none of that really matters as long as it was for her own good but she still knew about angels leaving the city. Claus had told her she wouldn’t be accepted except she was powerful enough but nevertheless they refused to accept her.
“It’s all because of my sister…It’s all her fault” Vera growled gripping the edge of the palace railings hardly as she stared into the beautiful garden that stood elegantly behind her quarters. The garden was so beautiful that anytime she looked at them they would always spread warmth through her but all she felt at that moment was hate and hatred and the longer she stared into the garden the faster the green vibrant leaves and colourful flowers in the garden start to wither. Unable to see such beauty dying away Vera forced herself to walk into the castle but that anger that her sibling had cause her misfortune spread through her like a wild fire…the guards that had been watching her started to get terrified by her sight. Her horns had fully grown and her fingers had sprouted, her eyes were slowly changing too.
“Do you fear me or do you respect me?” She questioned the guard as her anger and sentiment started to fuel her powers.
“I…I respect you my queen” The demon guard trembled as he speak.
“You lie!” Vera bellowed eyes blazing darkness and shadow. The demon on seeing this started to writhe as his body decay away, his skin dry up and shrunk until he was nothing but bones. Claus raced towards her and watched as her radiant blue dress started to change colour to black, her gold darkened as well as her hair but funny enough there were few strands of white.
“What is happening to me?” Vera questioned moving steadily towards Claus but she tripped so, Claus wanted to help him but but froze after seeing the polished wood used to make the floor changes colour.
“Your powers are going out of Control Vera you have to get a hang of it before you kill an innocent” Claus advised but Vera started crying, she was better and sentimental at that moment.
“I’m thinking it’s the changes your body is undergoing? You should be isolated or you’ll get anyone killed” Claus instructed urging her to stand but was still afraid to touch her in fear of being destroyed by her power. Her powers could kill him regardless of him being her mate that he was pretty certain of.
Vera did as instructed and agreed to be isolated from the others but she insisted staying with his mother caring for her in the process, she wanted Claus to be in charge of all her operations until she was stable and could go out without the fear of hurting anyone.
Claus was delighted, his plans were always altered by Vera’s stubbornness or own plan…it was time to cripple the angels once and for all he decided. He walked up to the throne and placed his hands on it, staring at it strangely like some kind of trophy he was aiming for and truly he was aiming for it.
“My lord” One of his personal messenger came bearing news. He turned towards the door of the high court and started to walk towards the messenger who brought news about Princess Angela and her crew to him personally.
“Tell me…have they locate the princess shell yet?” Claus questioned the messenger who smiled and bowed.
“Yes, the angels last hope is about to be tarnished, they have located the body that harbors the princess soul-
“Disperse as many demons to find her…I do not care what it takes you have to bring her to me alive. We will use her to set an example to the people who blindly follow her; the queen should know more than putting the soul of such powerful angel in a feeble woman that could be killed with just a punch…bring her to me” Claus ordered and the demon turned wanting to leave but something made them freeze, they felt something snap in them; it wasn’t just them it was every demon around.
“The royal mate had been found…the new line have begin” The messenger declared the sad truth to Claus and he felt his eyes redden in anger. They were still bound the the ancestral curse, once a new line open up…the demons would submit their loyalty to the royal in line. She knew her fake half-sister had imprinted her mate…it made him pretty mad.
“Do as your told, I’ll severe that line myself” Claus gritted harshly before heading away to make findings about Nina who had gone into hiding after her father and siblings died. She and Claus was the last living royal demons but she was more entitled to the throne than he was. As long as she was still alive the demon throne would never be his and he knew just how to take him down.
He knew a royal demon cannot survive without his imprinted mate, she wouldn't last a day without the royal mate. The pain was considered unbearable, all he had to do was find her mate and kill him…that way he would be able to claim the demon ancestral line, he wanted his lineage to continue his legacy, he wanted to rule the two realms together and together with Vera he could do, he just needed to find a way to tame her. Claus walked down the countless palace stairs to find the armies of demons he had been raising on their training ground training but before he set into doing anything at all he left to inquire about his half-sister's whereabouts. Eventually he got the information he needed but a demon who was like friend to Claus walked up to him, except from Vera he was the only one that had successfully managed to get so close to Claus.
“What is it Brandon?” Claus questioned after he kept following him. Brandon was a demon of darkness, he was a guy of average height except he weighed a lot. He was heavily built, more built that Claus.
“Even though you know the princess location right now…what did you plan on doing to her? You cannot even be so close to her…she can now command you to obey her every command as long as you are a demon you will always submit to her…she now has a royal mate and now the queen. You cannot-
“Who said I was going to be doing anything?” Claus asked with a faint smile on his face before walking away from Brandon.
Claus headed to the room of the Black angel whom Vera had hosted so he would relayed their plans to his people after Vera acknowledged it. They had hosted man visitors over the past week in an attempt to prepare for the war the rebellious angels were brewing and the black angel was one of them. Claus landed few soft knocks on the door for a few times before he got the door.
“Yes, can I help you” Kaden asked immediately he opened the door to see Claus standing there without anyone beside him this time, since he always has someone around him.
“The queen ordered me to relay to you a task...that way the black angel community would be able to prove their loyalty to her, you are to bring the head of Nina of the demon realm” Kaden frowned wondering why they would request for him to do such a thing, the princess represents the whole of the demon entity and to him, he felt they should unite with her to bring the queen down not kill her; it was true what they say…Vera really did intend to rule both the angel and demon realm.
“But…not to make it look like an ambush I shall execute this task with you…together we will find the princess and her mate, end them and return with their heads…that way we will force every other demons hesitating to join us to us; with the princess out of the picture they would have no choice than to follow and obey the queen so…will you accept the queen’s command and prove the loyalty of your people?” Kaden hesitated for some minutes not so sure he should take the command but he was instructed by their leader to follow Vera’s every instruction until they are certain she can’t win; at this point she has the upper hand, she is winning the war, automatically drove all angels into hiding, they fear her…even the queen but what they weren’t sure of is if they really do fear her or they are just waiting for something.
“Okay, I shall do as the queen order but where is the princess-
“May I come in?” Claus requested not wanting to discuss the details outside, though he has all the demons under his control…Vera could still be quite unpredictable.
“Yes, of course” Kaden smiled ushering him into the room he was offered to stay while they discuss the plans of taking back the city completely and forcing the angels to their knees.
“The princess is in the Himalayas with about thousands of other demons but this will not be a war between us and those demons…It’s an assassination and you shall carry it out while I watch your back-
“Will you believe me if I tell you this?” Kaden folded his arms while looking at Claus dead serious face.
“What?” Claus asked trying hard to hide his impatience.
“Princess Nina isn’t there at the moment-
“Why would you say that?” Claus narrowed his face at the mind suddenly growing suspicions but his appearance wasn’t threatening except from the fact that he was built like a rock, he was wearing a simple loin shirt and brown pants with empty weapon belt around him.
“Because our chief had ordered us to raid the place and it was empty just few empty tents, abandoned camp supplies and leftover ashes of camp fire…they had dispersed but we don’t know to where. We might be the rejected angels but…we are still angels and not friend of the demons…we wanted to rob them of their supplies but they were gone before we even got there and that is two days before I came here” Claus groaned trying to hide his anger but he failed arousing instant suspicion in Kaden as he stormed out of his room.
