“You screaming isn’t going to save you Vera, you should know that” The queen smiled after Vera managed to alert his loyal servants; the shadows.
“At least they are enough to distract you” Vera chuckled devilishly.
“Really?” The queen gave her a bored look seeing the shadows rolling through the woods in multitude, looking like heavy black wave of black windstorms passing through the trees but then, the queen smiled and looked over to where Opal stood.
“I will advise you to close your eyes, our transformation could be lethal” The queen smiled as she started to glow, slowly disappearing into a heavy mist of light, same with Opal whose presence Vera still found threatening. The rush of darkness slowly overshadow them but then a stray ray of light emit from the middle then from the exact position Opal had been standing, then it slowly overcome the heavy mist of darkness.
The light started to protrude from every angle shining so bright that Vera and Claus was instantly forced to close their eyes as the light overcome the shadow and by the time the light subsided and Vera opened her eyes, what remains was dead bodies of her own personal heavy that was slowly disintegrating. She was free now but the queen and his sons where nowhere to be found. Vera felt broken and slowly fall unto her knees as she watched the m******e she had caused for her people.
“This is all my fault, I should have listened to you; I should…I should have done as you ask, I can’t do this” Vera silently sobbed while watching her allegiants which lies before her rotting away and there was absolutely nothing she could do about it.
“It wasn’t your vault…you did all you could” Claus consoled trying to keep in the pain that comes with his severed hand-
“Claus I’m so sorry” Vera cried watching Claus’s bleeding hand
“You have nothing to worry about, I’ll heal…it’s going to take time but I’ll heal. Angels heals faster than we do but we still heal nonetheless” Claus assured pulling his mate into his arms.
“I think you’re right; the queen knows more than she’s willing to share, we have to find out anyone, every court members, every single ally to the royal family, I want to know everything but since you are in no position to do such tasks, I’ll do it myself this time” Vera didn’t sound too happy about her decision since she had gotten so used to Claus doing all the work but she certainly won’t let him go about doing chores while he was in pain.
“I think we should return to the palace” Claus suggested suddenly interested in the setting sun that lies overhead them. Vera nodded and took him by the arm, extending her wings and diving straight into the sky, her eyes still had tears in them, she could hardly control her sobs as she watched the pain in her mates eyes.
"Vera I'm fine" Claus tried to convince Vera but Vera was still worried about him and on getting to the castle, he let him slip his hands of her gently, the hands had started healing but the healing process is said to be more painful than the wound itself.
"I'll lead you back to your quarters" Vera volunteered and Claus nodded throwing his other hand over Vera's neck as she led him back to his room which was situated not too far from her mother's bedroom and hers actually.
"I'll ask the maids to get you something to eat" Vera cared, after she helped Claus to the bed and covered him up with the heavy blanket.
"It's almost sundown, your mother is yet to take her medicine" Claus reminded and Vera sighed recalling the medicine an old doctor had prescribed to her mother was to be taken before sundown everyday.
"It can wait-
"Before sundown everyday Vera, get her the medicine" Claus insisted but Vera wasn't convinced to leave him.
"You need to be taken care of, by the way that medication have been totally unhelpful, we've been using it for two years Claus but there hasn't been any changes in her" Vera argued.
"Vera, I think that medicine is what's keeping your mother alive, you can't lose her. You love her far too much, now is not a good time" Claus pressured biting on his cheeks to hold back the heavy groan that was about to erupt from his throat since he was in pain and Vera watching him still couldn't convince him to let her stay.
"I'll be fast about it and come back, I'll instruct the maid first then I'll go give her the medicine" Claus smiled on hearing that and immediately, Vera walked out of the room and call on a maid to get him food and new set of clothes since his old clothes had already being socked in blood, Vera was heading to her mother's room when a guard brought her news.
"Your majesty, the black angels send emissary" The guard relayed and a smile slowly formed on her pale face. Maybe her day will turn out interesting after all, she thought to herself, smiling and walking straight to the court room where a man with animal fur around his neck, he was giant with a messy black hair, he had stubbles that wasn't evenly trimmed and his face looked worn out and exhausted.
"Your majesty" The emissary, smiled giving Vera a slight bow as she walked past him and move to sit on the throne.
"It is an honor to finally meet you" The man whose metallic Grey eyes was so stunning that Vera could hardly look away beamed with radiant energy as he smiled. The black angels, the fallen or the power deprived are the set of angels who power and elegance had been stripped from them as a result of killing another angel or a pure soul, they had scattered around the world due to fear of being hunted and kill as death is the punishment of killing an innocent soul.
"My name is Kaden and I'm here on behalf of my people, we believe it is very honorable to reach out to us-
"No need for much formalities, I've been reaching out to your people and for the first time I'm receiving a feedback, I must confess I'm quite excited to hear your decisions about my proposal to you" Vera anxiously spoke.
"As you know, Black angels have received the same treatment and hate demons received from the white angels, we've been forced to run, hide and scavenge in order to survive, in regards to your proposal, as long as every part of the city is under your control, and can maintain peace, grant us a chance to stay, an environment of our own...we are willing to fight by your side and completely overthrow the the white Angels but as you all know...it's highly dangerous" The emissary concluded and the queen smiled.
"For a minute I thought you were going to turn me down but you didn't so, you have no worries, you will be granted the chance to become a legal member of the society and have an environment of your own, even a chance to have your own people in politics, I am willing to give you the power you seek but you have to fight by side and win this war...the white Angels are far too powerful with their powers instant so, I have a group of loyal humans working on how to create toxins that will subdue their powers for sometime, the time which will be favorable enough for us to fight and overcome them, they will be defenseless against our poisons, we can take them out so you have nothing to fear, all we need is numbers. We need to outnumber them in magnitude and size" Vera explained and Kaden nodded.
"Please, allow my people to host you for few days so you can relay our generous hospitality to your people" Vera smiled and Kaden bowed before the maids see him off to where he was going to be staying.
"Any idea who he is? Could he be telling the truth? I want to know everything that there is to know about him" Vera inquired immediately Kaden was out of hear shot.
"That's Agapi Kaden, the last son of the chief of Agapi who was banished by the queen after he accidentally kill his own brother. The queen considered the fact that it was an accident and banish him instead of actually killing him-
"Mercy, the queen show him mercy?" Vera questioned further wanting to learn everything.
"Yes, but Kaden was known to be very violent, angry and power-hungry, he had sneaked back into the capital after some years back since he find it difficult to survive outside the world he once knew, he was used to being treated like a royalty since he was a chief son, he couldn't survive for long and immediately he was spotted, word reach the queen then, the queen gave him a final verdict of death once spotted, no black angels is allowed is Angel Bay, that rule was never made to be changed...it stands and-
"But in my reign, it has to...we will co-exist with the black angels and nothing is going to change that, for now I let's just ensure they also want the same; even though they were detested by their kind, they were no friends of demons.
"But in my reign, it has to...we will co-exist with the black angels and nothing is going to change that, for now let's just ensure they also want the same; even though they were detested by their kind, they were no friends of demons" Vera said standing up and straightening her dress so she could walk down the stairs and move to check on her mother but then suddenly recalled something.
"Do any of you think princess Angelique is alive?" Vera’s question incited murmurs, feeling the air randomly and making Vera heave a heavy sigh of in annoyance.
"I want you all to keep quiet" She commanded and silence instantly befalls the room.
"Now, let's try that again shall we?" She smiled and watching as everyone's face crestfallen.
"Now, I want to hear your opinions each" She smiled again.
"We think, it's very much possible, but the princess had been dead for years, why would the queen hide her for so long?" One of the member of the Prasinos family who had betrayed his people voiced and Vera nodded moving to the next person present in the court.
"The queen can do it, she must have removed her soul if not kill her, the princess dragon is still alive after all this years of watching after the princess body-
"That's not a fair argument and you know it, the AQUA dragon line are very powerful dragons that could survive years just eating scraps, the king's dragon is still alive, if you are arguing that the princess is alive because her dragon then the king is alive" Another strong member of the court interjected one of the members Fotia family.
"My father's dragon is still alive?" Vera got curious.
"Yes, but he's been sleeping for years.-
"I will like to see it" Vera anxiously spoke, her face filled with vigour fuelled by her curiosity.
"You can't...the queen made sure no one would disturb the resting place of the king-
"I'm afraid that's exactly what I'll do" A sly smile beam across Vera’s stubborn face.
