Sitting in the classroom, time ticked by slowly intentionally tormenting Diana like it always does. She wouldn't be here if not for her family. She has already disappointed them enough and she wouldn't want to do that again. The least she could do was at least try to finish up high school and then do whatever she wants to do with her life. She's always wanted to be a warrior and nothing ever going to change that for her. Jasper may be out for a trip with Stephan but that doesn't mean she wouldn't want to miss a day of training. She's been out of it for over a week now and she can feel her bones getting stiff and her body getting weak. As she fiddled with her pain, she could picture her training and how she will tear the punching bag off its hanger.
She stared into the eyes of the teacher like every student was doing but she couldn't hear him. She has the feeling like there's danger brewing in the shadows and it wouldn't be long before it shakes their whole world. At that moment, she felt the walls to her mind fall open as Luna's voice came through immediately
Good Day, Crescent Moon Pack members. This is Luna Amelia calling for an emergency gathering at the grand hall. Leave whatever it is you are doing and meet me here in 20mins
The bell went off immediately after the link was cut off. The only thought that crossed through Diana's mind was 'it's happening'.
She had a high feeling that this gathering has something to do with what was coming.
Every student made their way out of their classrooms to get going. Diana was about to step out of her classroom when she felt unbearable pain in her temple forcing her to her knees. A few of her classmates saw this but they all ignored her except a girl who stooped right in front of the door and knelt before her.
Diana sealed her jaw shut grinding her teeth together determined to not scream in front of this many people. She took her right fingers to massage the point of pain but she couldn't feel the source of the pain. Her friend helped gather her hair to the back, tying it with a rubber band.
"Is it a headache?" She asked but Diana couldn't bring herself to answer. Her eyes were sealed shut but her vision was blinded by a white light. She sat on the floor but another 5 mins with her head threatening to blow up before the pain vanished like it was never there at all.
She relaxed a bit before looking at the girl in front of her with a smile and said "Am fine Annie. Let's go before the meeting begins"
"Okay"
The two girls walked back to the back of the packhouse where the grand hall was located. As a member of the alpha family, she walked past the gathered crowd and took a seat beside her mother at the front of the room.
Amelia and Julius walked up to the stage to address the crowd but Jordan was nowhere in sight. "My people, it's my duty as your Luna and Alpha female to keep you safe at all times. In the absence of The Alpha, my mate, it is totally up to me and the beta to ensure your safety. Your maximum protection has been my priority and that will never change and that's why I have called this meeting."
She turned to Julius who came forward and went straight to the point saying "This morning, I received a call from our neighboring pack and allies 'The Blue Moon Pack'. It was a distress call seeking backup from our pack to fight off our natural enemies the vampires."
Julius paused at this point as the crowd was gasping in shock and murmuring amongst themselves. You can feel the fear and anxiety growing in the room.
"Calm down!" Amelia said as she gestured Julius to continue
"Elder Jordan and a few of our men are on their way to assist them. The council has sent a lot of men to each pack to help defend them as we get to find out why they suddenly broke the peace our ancestors fought to establish and we had done our best to uphold".
The murmurs grew instantly as the hate and disgust they feel for the vampires came to the surface.
"I need your assistance my people as we get ready to welcome these soldiers and the council member that will be with them. Try to stay calm as our Alpha makes his way back to us but until then, we will triple our security and stay on guard ready for anything. They are going from pack to pack and we could be attacked before our alpha gets back so I need to ask one of you to take caution and stay indoors". Amelia said as she walked down the stage, grabbing Diana by the arm as they walk out of the hall.
"I need every single warrior and aspiring warrior with unshakable confidence in their fighting skills to stay behind let's set up the patrol and security measures. The rest, go back to the packhouse and stay indoor please".
Outside, Amelia was walking with Diana hot on her tails.
"I'm sorry Diana, I really don't mean to bother but not having a female beta is frustrating. Julius hasn't found his mate yet but I really need the assistance of a strong female and you are the only one I can trust" Amelia said stopping abruptly as she turned to face Diana.
"I'm not that strong Amelia and am sure you are aware of that"
"Nonsense. I have been treating your wounds for over a year now since I came into this pack and I've not seen a wolf that heals as fast as you. With your birthday in 2 days, am sure you will shift into a powerful wolf, and for that, am requesting you to take up your duty as my beta a few days before".
"But there's no guarantee that I am your female beta Luna"
"My beta is whomever I choose and if you are truly Jaspers mate, I rather it be you than anyone else".
"What do you need me to help you with Luna?"
