Extraordinary

A seven, an eight, a nine, Rory kept saying on his head each time he’d see some students passing by, rating them basing on his preference of their looks became a hobby of his already. It has already been a week since he transferred to the said school, yet throughout this whole time there, he had not seen nor encountered anyone who was as average as him, almost everyone there looked good and the truly best ones had some sort of skill or overwhelming charisma that made them stand out from all the others. Much like Maynard who he could say was a perfect ten out of ten. It was Rory’s measurement of him after being with the man for some time. A grin formed on his face while watching the young man from afar who was meticulously giving out orders to his teammates as they began to line up on the field. Maynard's group was wearing a silver uniform while their opponents wore an almost pitch black color. Almost half the girls who were watching started screaming along with the cheering squad who was rooting for the young man’s team the moment the game started. The cries grew even louder the moment the whole game has started as Maynard fearlessly dashed towards the other teams' defensive line, all the while grabbing hold tight of the spheroid ball, making sure that the other team was not able to grab on to it. What Rory thought was a simple game of rugby became a total surprise and shock, making him gasped. He was unable to believe what he was seeing at that moment when the whole game began. His eyes grew wide trying to catch up to what was happening, it was like he was watching a fast-forwarded movie seeing how fast the players ran. He went pale the moment Maynard smacked one of the blocking opponents with just one hand, throwing that person several feet above the ground but seemed unharmed or fazed the moment he fell back. Rory rubbed his eyes for a few moments, trying to make sense of it all but no matter how he looked at it the whole thing seemed something out of a war movie right now. Each and every player excelled not just in running but the way they threw and tackled each other as they tried to take the ball were something he knew was impossible. Some would almost fly several feet in the air and even in that distance, he could hear the sound of muscles and bones smashing into each other, even causing some of the other players to fly several meters away, but end up unscathed. Rory looked around to see the audience's reaction to this as he was felt so overwhelmed but everyone seemed unaffected by what was happening like it was just a normal game to them as they continued to cheer on. It was only then that he noticed the weird way some of the other students stared at him again, noticing his sudden shocked reaction as they whispered at each other while giving out ominous glances. “You okay Rory?” A sweet voice suddenly came out from behind him. The sheer shocked of not noticing the girl’s approach almost made Rory jumped out of his seat since he was already feeling tense from all the gazes that he’d been receiving. “He...Hey Beatrice,” He manages to greet after finally seeing the person who was now sitting beside him. Though he was still a bit surprised he was more concerned now as to how she had managed to get so close to him without him even hearing a step, when he was basically all alone on the highest part of the bleachers a few minutes ago. “You look pale, what’s wrong?” Beatrice's pretty face crease, as she checked him out. Rory was basically snow white at the moment like all his blood had suddenly come out of his body. “Uhm, I...I think I’m not feeling well,” he just says. He was feeling a bit dizzy at the moment from all the confusion and anxiety that he was having, because of all the things that he was seeing right now. “You want me to take you to the infirmary?” Beatrice calmly asked, smiling as she waited for an answer. “Yes, thank you.” That somehow managed to calm Rory’s mind, nodding as he thought it best to just leave at the moment. Still wobbling from feeling a bit dizzy, Beatrice had to assist Rory so that he could stand up, holding him by the shoulders to help him walk out of there. All of this was seen by almost everyone as all eyes were now currently on the two the moment that they left the bleachers. They were just halfway back to school when all of a sudden Trisha appears behind the two, panting and a bit panicky as she tried to catch up. “Bea! Kyle is at it again,” she shouts as a fight started to break out from the field. Beatrice was quick to turn, eyes wide upon hearing that. “What!” she hissed, her smiling face quickly frowned knowing what it meant. Rory hears the loud noises and the shouting which was obvious proof that a fight was happening. “You should go, I think I’ll be fine on my own from here,” He just says not wanting to cause any inconvenience since it seems the woman was badly needed at the moment. “You sure?” Beatrice had this worried look on her face as she stared at him. “Yes,” Rory tried to let out a smile feeling a bit embarrassed for causing her to worry. “All right, I’ll go check up on you once I deal with this, okay,” Beatrice gave out a quick warm pat on his back before letting him go. “Okay, thank you,” Rory says since the woman still seemed hesitant to leave him alone. It was not until they all heard a loud crash that the two girls were forced to run back to the field to see what was going on. Though he too wanted to see the problem for himself, he decided to avoid it now, thinking that it just might add to his anxiety. Wobbling as he walked, he tried to reach the infirmary as quick as possible when all of a sudden he felt a bit chilly from being all alone. It was like someone was staring at him from afar but there was nobody around except for the huge trees and bushes that were a few meters away from where he was. The unpleasant feeling that he was having quickly disappeared the moment he managed to get inside the school building, yet his heart still seemed to race at the moment. He was already lost from breath because of the sprinting towards the nurse's office, all the while he could not help but look back at the closed door, as the thing seemed to let out a foreboding aura, shaking and rattling from the wind that was coming from outside. He was only able to breathe a sigh of relief the moment he got inside of the infirmary and saw the lady that was sitting behind her desk writing some notes. “Hey there!” the woman greets when she finally takes notice of him, quickly stopping from what she was doing. The lady had this pleasant look on her face as she gestured him towards the seat. Her face reminded Rory a bit of Trisha as they seemed to look much alike. “Good afternoon,” he nods before sitting on one of the chairs that were set in front of the nurse's table. “Okay sweety, what seems to be the problem?” the nurse asked, standing from her seat while taking out her stethoscope. “I...I think I was having some kind of an attack,” Rory tells her as he was still having a hard time breathing right now. “Oh, your uncle hasn’t given us your medical records yet, but have you ever had any episodes before or do you have any certain trigger?” the woman asked taking out a small flashlight from her pocket. “I don’t actually rememb…” Rory was about to finish while being checked when all of a sudden they hear loud crashing noises. “Don’t mind that, how are you feeling right now?” the nurse continued to scan his eyes with the light from the small flashlight. “Still a bit dizzy,” Rory answers quickly trying to ignore the noise from outside that was becoming louder each second. It was only until the door flung open that the nurse stopped, Rory gasped when a wounded Kyle came flying inside face flat on the floor. “What is the meaning of this!” The nurse shouted, eye glaring at the boys who were at the door. It seemed that there was currently a stand-off between the two teams as Maynard and another student who seemed to have been the one who pushed Kyle were facing each other. Rory was about to try and help out Kyle when he froze in place noticing the glance of the man who was going head to head with Maynard. He quickly recognized those dark sets of eyes, it was the guy who had passed by their car on his first day there. There was something in his look that made his insides tremble as if he was being torn down piece by piece by it. Even the young man’s looks did not help, being all too dark and brooding. “Little b***h tried attacking Alex ended up getting his ass kicked,” one of the players from the opposing team scoffed, smirking as he looked at the grunting Kyle who was on the floor. The young man didn’t take that lightly as he tried to quickly stand up, getting ready to pounce at the person who threw those insults. “Kyle, enough!” Beatrice quickly got inside the clinic, holding Kyle down before he could even properly stand up behind her was Trisha who aided her to keep the man down. “All of you, to the principal's office, now!” the nurse was already outside scolding at the young men twice her size, all the while pointing them to get out of there. “Is...Is he okay?” Rory asks finally managing to find his voice after focusing his attention on the people in front of him. He ended up tongue-tied a while ago because of the young man who was giving him an odd look and also seeing so much blood on Kyle’s uniform, along with some scratches which made his headache once again, noticing that all of those were now gone. “Hey Rory,” Beatrice greeted with a smile even though she was still grabbing a hold of Kyle like nothing was actually happening right now. “Yeah, he’ll be fine, don’t worry about it,” Trisha added. It didn’t take a while before the two groups began moving as several guards started escorting them to the principal's office. But Rory remained clueless and startled seeing that everything that had happened seemed so normal to everyone there, even the nurse as she just continued lecturing some of the other people who were left in front of the clinic. Though she knew such things would happen in his old school once in a while it was the first time that he would see how casual the people there acted like it was nothing, though they would throw glances at him once in a while. Besides that, there were so many things that were not making sense, such as Kyle’s condition a while ago, he knows he had wounds all over his face when he fell on the floor face first, but when he stood up there was literally no wound there, another one was that weird sense of someone watching him all the time, it was like he was being monitored or something especially whenever he walks outside. Rory was now starting to feel really uncomfortable at the place. Now he was definitely sure that there was something off in that school, not just because all the students were so good looking and all, but also because some things that were happening didn't feel normal at all.
