Alyssa`s POV
I turned around to see that ugly Vampire Brick, having sunk its fangs into that poor woman`s neck and she easily passed out.
He had really just dug his own grave.
I did not hesitate to take out a small dagger and easily threw it, then watched as it buried itself right between the bloodsucker’s forehead. He quickly dropped dead with the passed-out female falling on top of him.
Done with that, I turned around to finish what I had been busy doing. About to slice another vampire head off. Sirus or whatever the bloodsucker`s name was. He seemed to act more human than those other newly created ones, Brick and Hugh.
However, I doubted that it was him who had turned them for he was weak and only a powerful vampire could change humans into Vampires.
But now he seemed to have taken the chance of my distraction to run away. His blurry form, moving further and further away from where I stood.
I knew if I chased him, I would be able to catch him. But as I looked back again at the passed-out female, she was still losing blood and needed medical attention quickly.
I would deal with coward Sirus another day.
So I put my blades back and walked to carry the female back to the Vampire Hunting Organization.
After riding with her on my motorbike, we finally reached the Victorian looking place.
The gate opened and some of my uncle`s people quickly came and took her. They were used to this, treating vampire victims. A person could only change into a vampire if they also drank that Vampire`s blood. So she was still a human and only needing a blood transfusion.
Once she woke up, they would explain everything to her and she would decide if she wanted to become a Vampire hunter or just continue with her life normally. This was while keeping the secret of Vampires' existence.
I walked and headed upstairs to my uncle`s office to file my report of how everything had gone. In there I had written about how I had found the Vampire Killers and only killed two of them as one escaped. Then also added how they had reacted at seeing my amulet and wanted it.
That fact had made me wonder if they were the ones who visited that day and killed my parents. But I had checked the bodies of the two dead Vampires Bric and Hugh before discarding them and none had the black tattoo which those ones had.
The Vampire Huntress within me hoped Sirus would come for me again with more of his Vampires. So, I could have more Vampires to kill.
“Um, Hello Alyssa darling. Your uncle is not here.” My uncle`s secretary Gertrude said nervously trying to stop me from going into the office.
“I can hear his voice from here,” I replied with one eyebrow raised and passed by her to go see what they were trying to hide from me.
Ignoring Gertrude’s plea, I walked and entered opening the office door.
“Vampire!’ I angrily snarled upon noticing the glimpse of pale white skin, quickly taking out one of my small daggers.
Using my sun powers, I rushed towards him and placed the dagger right by his neck.
“Alyssa STOP!” My uncle`s voice immediately filled the room just as I was about to slay the Vampire.
The Vampire who weirdly enough stood still and calm...as if his life was really not in danger. But as I really took a closer look at him, past the pale skin, my eyes immediately widened as I finally recognized him.
That godly sculpted handsome face, ivory skin, perfect jawline to those jet-black curls adorning his head. But it was those electrifying blue orbs which ensnared my eyes as they had done the last time we had met. And I hated it!
This was one of those rare vampires whose sight could make my heart rate spike with only a single glance.
“Alyssa, do you know who he is? If so put your dagger down! Before you end up plunging us into some war which I am not yet prepared for.” Uncle Sam continued.
“Of course, I know who he is, the damn Vampire King, or one of them,” I greeted through my teeth in annoyance while removing my dagger from his neck. Then moving away from the Vampire and his perfect so-called Kingly pose.
Apparently, he was one of the Vampires that we Hunters were not allowed to touch or Kill. The so-called Purebloods and elite Vampires. Vampires born through birth and not turned.
The truce between them and the Vampire Hunters was only because they did not touch humans or drink human blood. Instead, they drank animal blood or would get blood from blood banks and hospitals.
But to me, all Vampires were the same! Bloodsucking monsters!
Even the so-called goodie Purebloods were still unpredictable and could just snap one day and go on a crazy rampage killing humans. It had actually happened once in the past,
An old Vampire Queen, HIS grandmother who lost her mate during some 100 years ago war. She had gone crazy and started killing humans. So vampire hunters intervened and killed her, leading to a war between hunters and Pureblood Vampires. It was bloody and causalities on both sides...so an uneasy truce was made.
We would only Kill the bad Vampires, the ones caught red-handed drinking or attacking humans. But if the Vampire was a pureblood or Royal, the Vampire Royals would deal with them or give us permission to kill.
The last time I met this Vampire King in front of me was when I saved my cousin. And I had insulted them right before leaving.
Both him and that twin brother of his.
So, it was weird to see him right now at this moment, busy staring at me with delight in those eyes. As if he was very happy and glad to see me. After all, had I not just almost killed him like two minutes ago?
If my uncle had not intervened and stopped me, I would have done it. When it came to vampires, I turned into a cold-hearted killer in just seconds.
“Alyssa.” As the Vampire said my name, it bothered me again how good it sounded coming from his melodic deep voice. He said it as if he was savoring each letter.
“Uncle what is he doing here then!” I turned to my uncle blatantly ignoring this perfectly poised Vampire, who could make me feel weird just by his presence.
“These humans turned Vampires are increasing and the number of humans dying is increasing too. Someone is turning them and letting them loose into the towns to kill. The Vampire King is here to help us find out who it is.” Uncle Sam said to me with a sigh.
The human turned vampires we called them shadow walkers. They could not walk in the sun even with sun rings and were like mindless zombies doing whatever the person who turned them told them to do. They had no will of their own. This quickly made me think of those two Vampires I had killed, Brick and Hugh. Only Sirus had looked like a normal Vampire.
But even Sirus had seemed as if he was acting under orders from somewhere higher.
Only a powerful Vampire could create other vampires and order lowers ones like Sirius around.
“Do we really need his help? I’m sure we have it covered.” I replied back while glaring at the Vampire King with great loathing. I was now suspecting that he could be in it too. Those charming looks did not fool me one bit. Maybe he was here to spy on us and planning something sinister.
“Alyssa he is a Powerful Vampire who has volunteered to help hunt his kind. He will be a great addition to the organization. You have to work with him.” Uncle Sam replied with a calculating look in his eyes, making me wonder what the hell my uncle was busy planning too.
And why did he want ME out of all the hunters he could choose from, to work with the Vampire king when he knew how much I hated Vampires!
Still, though I understood where my uncle was getting at. Letting the Vampire King help and hunt his own kind would mean less of the human hunters getting hurt or risking their lives.
“What does he get out of this, I don’t trust him,” I bluntly said while turning to glare at the Vampire King again. Did he not have some Kingly duties or whatever to be busy doing. Than to be here where he was unwanted.
“Having more Vampire Shadow Walkers runs the risk of exposing my kind to the world for they are reckless. I'm here to find out which Pureblood is disobeying royal orders and turning humans. However on the other hand…I am also here to claim what’s mine.” As he said the last sentence his intense gaze immediately pierced into mine.
“Whatever! I am going home .” I replied to my uncle ignoring the Vampire King a second time and avoiding those intense electrifying eyes of his...which were still staring right at me.
But I really did have to sleep early so that I could wake up in time. It was already past midnight and I did not want Mrs. Rhema after me for sleeping in her class again.
“Aright and thanks for understanding Alyssa.” My Uncle replied as I left the room. However, I slammed the office door shut, causing the glass to shake, for I was really still pissed off on the inside.
Pissed off at the fact that I Alyssa a Vampire Huntress, was being made to work with the King of the Vampires out of all people.
That was totally not what I signed for!
