Alyssa`s POV
The ungodly dark hour had arrived. The darkness before the dawn.
The time where those evil creatures of the night thrived. Preying on unwise humans who thought themselves wise, to be roaming the empty dark eerie streets at such a time.
Using the evidence in the folder that my uncle gave to me, I easily narrowed down the locations for the next attacks to two places.
Some Bloodsuckers were predictable like that. Easy to figure out. They usually targeted night club places where they lured their prey, the drunk humans. Or it was the poor souls who stumbled into dark alleys not knowing the dangers hidden there.
I found my stakeout on top of some really tall run-down building, giving me a view of the whole town. I kneeled with my binoculars out…waiting and watching.

“I regret letting myself be dragged to some party!” Serene could not help but mumble to herself as she took off her heels to walk properly. Plus they were hurting her feet and giving her blisters.
She should have done what she did like every normal night of her college life. She should have been at the dorm room she shared with her roommate, snuggled up in a warm blanket while reading some romance novels, or watching series on Netflix. Instead because its Friday night, her roommate had forced her to dress up and dragged her to some raging college party.
The same party where she had been abandoned as her roommate left with some guy she met up with. Leaving her on her own and surrounded by strangers.
Deciding she had enough of drunk college guys hitting on her or trying to grope her and bad tasting beer, Serene had decided to leave and go home.
But her car broke down and having no money or cash with her for an uber, she was left to walk in the dark streets all alone. Her phone was battery dead too.
The little mini black dress she wore, also did not help as the night had become chillier and she was now shaking from the cold.
As she continued walking, the streets became emptier and emptier until it was just only the eerily silence surrounding her.
She was now regretting her decision to walk; she should have just stayed in her broken-down cheap car and slept there instead.
However, it was too late to turn back so she continued walking. But Serene paused in her steps as the glimpse of a shadow blurred in front of her.
Looking behind, her heartbeat immediately spiked up as she glimpsed the shadow of a man. He was just standing there, watching and looking at her. It was too dark for her to really see what he really looked like. She quickly stopped staring and started walking away wanting to be as far away as possible from him.
Panic filled her and even the hairs on her skin rose up as the smell of danger-filled her senses.
But as she started hearing the sound of the man`s footsteps following her, she picked up her pace and quickened her steps too.
“Where are you rushing off to gorgeous.”
Serene almost screamed out in terror after another blur appeared and she found herself smacking right into another guy. Although his voice sounded calm, everything about him screamed a dangerous predator. His cold pale skin to those red like eyes.
Not wasting time, Serene pushed herself away from him and turned to run in another direction. Only to end up turning into some alleyway.
She realized her mistake too late as she reached the dead-end of a wall and there was now nowhere else to run to.
Turning around she saw the two scary men coming and headed for her.
“Don’t be scared cupcake. We will make this quick. You won't even feel a thing.” The same one she had bumped into spoke again.
“Speak for yourself Brick, I want to hear her screams as I drain her dry.” The first one she had seen, said finally speaking. His voice sounded much scarier and raspy.
Both their red eyes shining out in the dark.
“Brick and Hugh stop playing with food. Get it done quickly. We still have places to go and search for what we really came here for.” A new deeper voice spoke out of nowhere and Serene looked in fright as a third man blurred and appeared behind the two.
He looked bored and was unlike the others who only had bloodlust and hunger filled expressions. He looked less animal-like.
“Yes, Boss Sirius.” The scarier one answered eagerly, even letting out an animal like hiss. Showing that there was something inhumane about them.
Serene knew it was hopeless as it was three of them against her. She felt scared out of her mind and could not stop shaking in fear.
“Please Don’t come near me.” was all Serene could shout with her arms out to protect herself. This was as the one named Hugh was about to come to her.
“Hey, you! bloodsuckers, prey on someone your own size.” Serene could only stare in shock as a 5.2 ft young girl appeared after dropping dangerously from the top of this tall building.
The girl then stood in front of Serene as if blocking her from these men or monsters who had been calling her food.
“Oh, it’s a child.”
“And she thinks she can stop us. How funny. Just means more food for us.” Both creatures responded instead in mocking laughter.
“I am not a child; I am seventeen turning eighteen soon. And I am going to enjoy killing all three of you Vampire bloodsucking leeches.” The girl responded with a deadly calm voice, no hint of fear in her tone.
Hearing the word Vampire quickly made Serena’s eyes widen in great fear. Now being faced with this scary fact that they actually existed. She could not even deny it herself while staring at those sharp white canine teeth, their unnatural red eyes, paler skin, and the way they moved with unnatural speed.
She felt like fainting in shock.
“She has the Amulet! You two get HER!” Sirius then shouted after the girl took off and threw her long black jacket away, getting ready for a fight.
The amulet was now shining proudly on her chest while dangling around her neck.
Serene found herself now scared for both herself and the teenage girl. Hugh immediately bared his fangs in a hiss and rushed for them in unnatural Vampire speed.
But the young girl remained calm and unafraid. Just at the right moment, she brought out two long swords from her back and sliced them clean with this unimaginable speed at incoming Vampire Hugh.
For just that short moment, everyone except the young girl was in shock. This was as the big and burly Vampire Hugh, fell to the ground dead. Head off, and having been defeated by this teenage girl.
“You are a vampire hunter; I should have known by the colors.” Sirus the leader immediately sneered out in rage.
“Yes, I am. And tonight I will also be your death. You murderous monsters who go around busy killing helpless humans.” The girl easily replied back while wiping the Vampire blood off her blades in disgust.
And then fearlessly, she ran towards the two vampires with only their deaths on her mind.
Serene was just left to stand and watch as the girl faced off two dangerous vampires and was holding her own.
Incredulously both Vampires seemed to be struggling to even make a scratch on the girl as she fought fearlessly, her blades nicking them instead. Their vampire screeches now being the only ones filling the air as she ruthlessly slashed at every inch of their pale skins.
The girl also seemed to be like them, matching them in their unnatural speed and strength.
Was she even human? Serene could not help but ask herself as she continued watching the blurs. The fight seemed to be happening too fast for her human eyes to keep up with the speed.
“What are you,” the leader Sirus shouted out after blurring away from the girl and now coughing out blood from afar. Fear shining in those menacing blood-red eyes of his.
The girl looked like she had not even broken a sweat. In fact, she looked like she was just enjoying toying with them. And could have already killed them as easily as she had done to now dead and ashy Hugh.
She seemed to take pleasure in making both Vampires feel pain for a little more while.
“As I already said, I am your death,” she replied Sirius and was now walking to go finish him off. Brick the other Vampire while injured, desperate and out of options, took the chance.
Serene could only stare in horror as the injured Vampire blurred towards her and viciously wrapped his hand around her neck from the back.
“Stop, if you kill my sire, I will kill this human too.” Brick immediately shouted just as the girl was about to slice the head off Sirus`s body with her sword.
Serene could feel tears now flowing on her face from fear. This was as the Vampire`s disgusting fangs were now scraping against the skin on her neck.
As the badass girl turned around to face them, the Vampire Brick did not waste time. Serene felt the fangs burying themselves sharply into her neck. The pain was unimaginable as the Vampire then ruthlessly gulped down her blood.
With one last pleading look at the badass girl for help, Serene immediately passed out unable to comprehend all that was happening.
