@RandomThoughts: Boy-You look nice today; Girl- Was I ugly yesterday?
>>>>>>>>
Before leaving the Von Blaze building, I first headed for the changing room to wear normal clothes. I changed out of my Vampire hunting clothes. They were still filled with the disgusting Vampire blood of both Brick and Hugh. I then wore the clothes I had gone to school with earlier. My blue jeans, blacktop, and black boots.
I placed the bloodied clothes into my school backpack and left the weapons in the weapons room. I also left my motorbike at the Von Blaze building, planning to walk home which was nearby.
Although the place was more like a Mansion and not a home. With many rooms and a huge yard.
Still, my uncle was never there being the workaholic and Anita had moved out last year to live with her boyfriend.
At least it would not be totally empty as our butler Walter would be there. I also could not wait to eat whatever dinner awaited me for he was a really good cook. He was used to my vampire hunting schedule of coming home after midnight too.
As for being rich, none of the people at school knew. Especially my nemesis Tiffany, she always assumed I was middle class and I never corrected her or brought her to my house when we were friends.
At the time it was because I did not want people treating me differently because I had money. My uncle even had his own limousine and had offered a lot of times to have the Limo driver drive me to school but I always refused. I preferred to walk or ride my skateboard.
The scenery in the distance between my home and the school was just so calming. I loved breathing in the fresh air and looking at the different shades of trees lined up on the sides of the road. Plus, it was because in the morning, the sun was usually out and I could absorb some of it easily than by being in a car.
But right now, it was dark, really dark. After all, I had rescued that girl when it was almost reaching midnight. And it was now 1 am. But I was scared of nothing so I continued my walk. And as a Vampire Hunter, you got used to it. Having to work at night and walk in the dark.
It was then I felt it and heard it too. The sound of footsteps. I immediately paused realizing I was being stalked and followed.
“Show yourself,” I shouted out loud, while secretly taking out a pen from my jean pocket. One of my hands also touched my sun amulet, wondering if Sirus had followed me here for round two. So that he could try and get it.
Even so, I was ready for him and even hoped it was some bad vampire after me. I was trained to use anything as a weapon and this pen in my hand was more than enough. I always made sure to dip my pencils and pens in vervain. So, it was a weapon on itself. As a hunter, I had to always be ready for anything.
Since I got no reply I continued walking and was waiting on the inside for whoever was following me to make their move.
After a moment of just silence and nothingness, it was then I heard it.
The sound of a small stick being stepped on. With no hesitation, I aimed my pen to where the sound had come from. The sharp point easily flew in the air headed to go stab my invisible target.
I did not know how to feel as I finally saw who it was. The damn Vampire King! This was as he was forced to show himself and easily grabbed the pen with his hand just before it could stab him on the chest.
“Nice aim,” was all he said with a smirk as if I had not just caught him red-handed stalking me. And using whatever powers he had that could make him invisible at night.
“Why are you following me.” I bluntly said straight to the point with my arms crossed.
I was not in the mood to entertain a Vampire especially him. Thoughts were already filling my head as I wondered if he had been trying to attack me or sneak an attack. I was right not to have trusted him.
But still, even I did not know how I would fair against a Vampire King. Unlike the ordinary Vampires I was used to easily killing, Royal vampires were said to have lots of powers. Like the one, he had just been using to follow me, invisibility.
He was immune to vervain too, judging by how he was easily holding my pen dipped in it. His hand should have been burning upon contacti.
“Is it because you are also after this?” I bluntly asked again while pointing to my sun amulet.
If so, I was ready to fight to the death. Even if the devil himself tried to come and take it, I would fight. My mother had given this to me and I would never let it be taken from me. I guarded it with my life.
“No its not that…I wanted to make sure you arrived home safely.” He replied looking nervous while ruffling his hands through those toffee brown curls. Seeing such a human-like expression on his face did startle me a bit. I was used to seeing many Vampires never showing emotions at all. It was usually expressions of intense hunger, bloodlust, hatred, or just blank expressions.
So, it was really perplexing me as to why he, a Vampire King at that, was not acting like the typical entitled Vampire.
“Thanks but no thanks, I do not need your help, Vampire. So, stop following me.” I rudely replied, with menace in my tone. I was a bloody Vampire Hunter and could fend for myself.
“Well...it’s not in me, to abandon a beautiful young woman to walk alone by herself at such a dark night as this.” As he said this, a charming smile was now immediately gracing that face of his.
But was it so weird? How the main thing that my mind caught on throughout his whole sentence. Was how he had unintentionally called me beautiful, whether he knew it or not?
It must have just slipped out of his mouth by mistake, I immediately thought. For someone with such perfectly sculptured features as his, had no business complimenting someone with plain simple features as mine.
It was another thing that annoyed me about Vampires, how they were blessed with beauty which was a weapon for them to use to lure out gullible humans. I had become numb and used to that, no longer caring that they were beautiful. Only seeing them as monsters.
So, it was baffling how this Vampire King was making me feel self-conscious and making me finally notice his looks which were not easy to ignore.
Especially those damn eyes, they were the worst. Why could they not turn red so I would snap out of it.
“So what do you say…” his voice instead snapped me out of this revere which I had fallen into, of overthinking on the inside.
“Just keep your distance and don’t make noise. If you even come near me, I will not apologize for stabbing you. Its a warning.” I replied with a glare, snatching my pen from his hands, and then continued walking without waiting to see his reaction or hear his answer.
Luckily enough he listened to my warning, kept his distance, was quiet, and followed behind me.
But bad for me as I was now self-conscious and aware of his presence.
I guess it did feel good a little to not walk alone and to have company. But he was a Vampire so I did not want it to count.
In no time I arrived at the mansion gate and used the remote to open it.
“Sweet Dreams Alyssa.” His melodic voice finally sounded but as I looked back, he was already gone.
The gate closed and I headed inside with thoughts of him stuck on my mind.
******
Somewhere far away.
“Why are you here.” A powerful female voice asked. With the owner sitting on a red sofa, near a warm fireplace with a glass of red blood on her hand. The glass which she took small sips off and was mostly swirling around with a sad miserable look in her eyes.
“Mistress, I have finally found the medallion which we have been looking for this whole time. I cast my eyes on it today.” Sirus first said in reply.
“Bring it to ME, where is it!’ A smile was now gracing her once sad face at hearing the good news, the woman eagerly turned to look at her servant. She had lost hope after what seemed like a lifetime of searching.
“Mistress I am afraid…I do not have it. The girl who wears it…she is a vampire hunter. She killed Brick and Hugh and almost killed me too. I had to escape with my life.” While speaking, Sirus could not help but cast his eyes to the floor in shame. He hated disappointing his sire. It was his sole purpose of living to please her.
“So you are telling me that you had the medallion almost in your clutches but you LET IT GO because of being defeated by a little GIRL???”
Sirus immediately winced at the sound of a cracked wine glass being smashed to the floor in rage. His Mistress was now truly angry.
“Give me a second chance Mistress. I will get it for you!” Sirus pleaded after rushing to where she sat and kneeling on the floor to beg for another chance.
“We will create an army if we have to, bring me as many humans as you can so I can turn them. I do not CARE. Just as long as I GET that MEDALLION!”
“Anything for you my Mistress,” Sirus replied while taking her hand and placing a kiss of loyalty on her ring finger. He then immediately got off his knees to stand up and left to go do whatever it took to please his Mistress.
Left Alone, his Mistress stood up and headed into her sleeping chambers.
Next to her bed stood a golden statue. Turning the head in another direction, a secret door immediately opened. And had stairs leading downwards.
After going down, the woman first passed a cage holding her secret prisoner.
“Just wanted to let you know that the Amulet has finally been sighted by my men. All your resisting has been for naught as soon I shall have it in my hand.” She first said with a mocking smirk to her prisoner and enjoyed the panicked look on their face.
“If you release him. You will doom us all.” Her prisoner replied, the voice sounding raspy and weak from hunger and torturee.
Only releasing a mocking laugh for she did not care, the woman then walked past her prisoner to where lay that which her heart yearned for.
A huge black casket lay enveloped in black mist, chains and symbols.
As if sensing her presence, it shook a bit.
“Soon my love…soon you will be free. And I will have fulfilled my soul-bonding oath to you.”
