“Five”
After his birthday dinner, Kam approached his Aunt Prae and asked about Kiet. "Auntie, can I ask something?"
"Hm? What is it, Kam?"
Kam scratched the back of his head, a little nervous. "Um...Dr. Karl's son...um do you happen to know if he works still at Inchareon Medical Center?"
Prae Khumpai broke into a chuckle seeing her nephew act all shy about asking a boy. She ruffled his hair and whispered. "He's on his internship. As far as I know, he comes in in the afternoon until evening." She winked at Kam and inaudibly told him to keep it a secret.
She's not supposed to just reveal such information but she did it to help her lovestruck nephew. "I better get going. Your uncle and your cousin must be waiting for me. Let me know if your little crush works out."
"What little crush?" Isabella walked in on her son talking with her sister-in-law by the hotel lobby. Irene is still talking to an acquaintance she coincidentally met at the hotel. Daniel joined his daughter along with Forth.
Looking at Bella, Prae playfully smiled and pointed at Kam. "Well, thanks for dinner again, sis. See you soon. I gotta go. Good luck, Kam." She gage Kam's mother a cheek-kiss before leaving.
Isabella followed Prae's figure then turned to her son. "So~ Who's the lucky person my son is about to break a heart of?"
Kam had a little pout. "Mom~"
"Oh, shush. I was just curious. You never actually had to ask somebody for a 'little help'. Is this serious this time?"
"What's serious?" Daniel asked his wife when the three of then walked out into the lobby.
Kam looked at his mom as if begging not to say anything.
Bella hooked her hand on her husband's arm as they walked out of the lobby. "Your youngest is planning on going to Kanthapat. Looks like we're having a family full of engineers six years from now."
"Really..." Dan uttered, half believing it. He doesn't doubt Kam' future plans but he got the gist that it wasn't what the mother and son were talking about. He wriggled his brows as he stared back to his wife before they got inside the car.
Irene was teasing Kam the whole time trying to get some answers. Just like her dad, she knew Kam was talking about something more interesting than his college plans. "No, there's nothing else, really. Stop it, P'." He begged his sister's insistence to stop.
Forth on the other hand has been busy texting with Beam. Kam and Irene groaned when they noticed their brother acting all giddy over a message.
Their car headed home with Irene and Kam's attention stuck on Forth. "Why can't you two find someone as well. Oh, yeah. Just you, P'. Kam already found someone." Forth said without looking up from his phone.
"I knew it! Kam's in love, dad." Irene blurted out. Isabella and Dan shared a laugh.
Kam smacked the back of his brother's head. "What the hell, P'Forth."
"What? It's true, isn't it? Should I tell them who?"
"What?! No!"
"YES~" Irene and their parents said at the same time.
"You guys are horrible." Kam mumbled.
"We heard that." Isabella said, obviously heard what Kam said.
"Let's just let it go, honey. We'll know soon anyway." Dan said mischievously.
Kam mentally facepalmed himself. 'I better do a good job hiding this. This has to go smoothly. With my own efforts.'

Kam was about to head to bed but he knew for sure he wouldn't be able to sleep. "Damn it. I should have just asked P'Forth for P'Beam's help in getting P'Kiet's number. Ugh! I'm stupid." Kam muttered alone.
He sat in front of his study desk and contemplated on what to do. He glanced at the clock on his laptop and it was 10:30. "How do I approach him exactly? How do I court him?"
Hey may have charmed quite a number of boys and girls but the youngest Jarupanivh is lost when it came to his first love. He was frustratingly thinking of a way to get close to Kiet when his eyes landed on the stack of papers he had on him desk.
"Should I write a letter? Wouldn't that be lame? Ah, f**k it." Kam scratched his head and opened a web browser. Once Google was started, he typed in,
How to write a love letter
He facepalmed himself, disbelieving that he's actually asking the mighty internet about his love problem. Kam was set on doing what he could so he gave the internet a chance on giving the best guide to write his first ever love letter.
Write a rough draft.
"Oh, god." Kam was following the guide as he wrote his first draft but he almost puked at his own words. "I'm not 12. What's this?!"
The 17 year old had been writing for over an hour already. The crumpled papers were scattered all over his room. Everytime he would read what he wrote, he didn't feel satisfied. He would start all over again.
It was past one in the morning when Kam was finally happy with what he wrote. It was simple and he had written what he really felt. At least what he was ready to reveal to Kiet.
He smiled at the finished letter and kissed it. Then he groaned when he couldn't find an envelope to put it in. "Shit."
Kam left the letter at his table and headed out of his room. He sneakily went downstairs and into his mother's home office. He knows she keeps all kinds of stationary materials.
He was ecstatic when he found what he was looking for. The drawer for the letter envelopes. They were mostly white. Thinking it would be too plain, Kam picked a pink one. "Yes. This should do."
He walked back to his room and excitedly slid his folded letter inside the envelop. He's planning to drop by the hospital first thing in the morning before he goes to school.
"I just hope you don't get put off by it.
...My P'Kiet."
