Two days later… Liana's pov Big silver gate wrapped in golden pothos plant leaves. There's a silver board on a red furnished brick wall next to the gate with the name of the castle “Melrose” Even the wall was shrouded in golden pothos leaves and two guards wearing black uniform on either side of the gate. The guard on the right opens the right side of the gate and the left guard opens the left side of the gate. As soon as our black car drives past the gate, the guards immediately close them again. A wide black road with rare winter cherry blossom trees on either side leads straight to the white castle in front of us. There are pink cherry blossom petals all over the road, yet even on the ground it is beautiful to look at. The car spins a white fountain at the end of the road and stops in front of the three white stairs. There are two guards at the stairs wearing the same black uniform. “Come inside.” Evelyn mutters softly. My anxious feet step onto the shiny black marble floor and the interior in front of me is nothing, but breathtaking. The living room is bigger than one can imagine. There's a black couch in the middle and a small wooden table in front of that couch. A fireplace straight to the door and two small pine trees on either side for decoration. The ceiling is plain, but black. And even the walls are painted black. The castle is only white from outside, whereas the interior is all black. “Your room is upstairs.” Evelyn smiles. Shining black stairs leading the way upstairs. My feet slowly follow Evelyn as she ascends those stairs. As we reach the second floor, my eyes glance at the closed black doors in the corridor. There are seven. She stops in front of a black door at the end of the corridor. “This is your room.” She takes out a key underneath her right hands' black sleeve and opens the door. “Come” She steps inside and my feet follow. My eyes are mesmerized by the extraordinary beauty of the room. Plain, but classy. The walls are again black and so the marble floor and ceiling are. There's a black sexy wardrobe carved in the wall on the right side of the king-size comfy bed. A balcony straight to the door giving the entire view of their green garden. So many different flower plants sparkling in the garden and a wooden bench next to a small pond. “So do you like your room?” “It’s beautiful…thank you very much.” Evelyn gently touches my left cheek with her soft palm. “I am so happy to have you here.” The day of my parent's funeral Evelyn informed the cop that she would legally adopt me in the Maxwell family. The court said it will take them two days to go through the adoption process. She asked her personal maid to look after me in the meantime. An old lady, who practically raised the Maxwell brothers…Marina Mathews. Marina is Evelyn's childhood friend and her most trusted maid. She took care of me and the kitten with very much sincerity. Two days later, Evelyn appeared with the adoption papers. The adoption was successful. I was no longer Liana Baker, but Liana Maxwell. The only adopted daughter of the Maxwell family. My name was changed in every single document. A maid steps inside wearing a black dress with white collar and sleeves upto her ankle length. It’s her uniform. “This is Poly, your personal maid.” “Whatever you need, just ask her.” My head nods to her words. Poly’s gaze was fixed on the black floor. Evelyn brushes her hand through my blue long hair with a smile on her lips. “Take a good rest for now…I will introduce you to your father and four brothers at dinner tonight.” “You go to college with them, right?” Her brow furrows. “Uhm…yes…but we never crossed paths or exchanged words. They're seniors and I'm in sophomore year.” “Well, you can meet them tonight.” She tucks a loose strand of hair from my face behind my ear. Her face turns to Poly. “Make sure Liana looks her best tonight.” “Yes, ma’am.” She steps out of the room, closing the door behind her. “Would you like to take a warm bath?” Poly asks. “Sure!” I reply with a smile. She nods her head and quietly walks over to the washroom. The washroom is built within a transparent four glass wall, one can easily see the stark shadow of a person taking a bath inside. Luckily, there are black curtains either side of the glass to block the view. The kitten has already fallen asleep on the black comfy couch. I named her Cheryl. Poly filled the bathtub with hot water and even placed scented white candles around the tub for good fragrance. The moment my stark body feels the warm water and I close my eyes…a very sweet memory of my childhood captivates me. “Liana” “Let's bake a cake together, sweetie.” “Mom” “I don't want to bake, I want to eat.” Mom chuckled, whereas Dad lifted me in his arms and kissed my forehead. “Our princess is really acting like a princess.” He said with a smile. “I just want to stay with you two for the rest of my life and eat a lot of cakes.” “Okay, let's do that.” Mom promised. Their smiling faces bring tears to my eyes…but slowly blood covers their faces and the sight of their murder night replaces my sweet memory. Blood!! Mom and dad!! The back of my hair rises and fear crawls over my skin. My eyes open with a strange eerie feeling. “What is this sensation?” I murmur in utmost distress. My fingers try to grab the water, yet it slips away from the gap between my fingers and falls back to the tub. “Everyone will pay for this no matter who they are, that's my promise.” *** Later at night… Wearing a gorgeous white dress up to my knee length, I step out of my room and head downstairs through the same black stairs leading to the living room. My blue hair is loose and a thin golden chain is shining on my neck. The heels are quite high and very red. This was all done by Poly. “You're right on time!” Evelyn greets me with her pure smile. The Maxwell family is sitting together at the glass table for dinner. Evelyn and her husband, Waylen Maxwell, are facing me across the table, whereas the four Maxwell brothers are flaunting their board backs. “Sons” “That's your new sister, Liana.” I clench my palm tightly as my heart pumps with an anxious feeling. All four of them slowly turn their heads in my direction and my legs freeze with just their one glance.
