Sister

1029 Words
Liana’s pov I take my seat next to Evelyn Maxwell at the table and keep my gaze on the empty white plate in front of me. The Maxwell brothers scanned my face for not more than three seconds and turned their heads back to their front. None of them bothered to say hi. A maid slowly approaches the table and serves my plate with a gloomy face as if she is being forced. I am anxious to the point that I can't even lift my gaze up. An omega in the house is certainly not welcome. “You must be heartbroken after what happened to your family.” Waylen Maxwell mutters softly. “Uhm…yes!” My gaze is still on my plate. Maybe they feel pity for me. The light is so dim in the dining area that I can't even see faces clearly. Darkness is falling on them and they're like shadows embracing the darkness. None of them are bothered by the darkness…except for me. My small house outside Velverine was always full of lights and laughter. There's a huge glass window covering one side of the wall next to the table and moonlight coming through it embellishing the walls surrounding us. The rest three sides of the wall are painted in black. “This is your new family, Liana.” Evelyn rubs my upper back. “Look after your sister, okay?” Her soft voice shifts to her four sons who are silent across the table ever since my feet stepped into their dining space. They didn't even respond. I suck in a deep breath and look for a water jug on the table. The maid who served me dinner earlier forgot to serve me a glass of water. The water jug is on the Maxwell brothers' side and my lips are way too shy to break the awkward silence between us. I guess I'll keep up with my thirst. All of a sudden… A glass of water slightly moves in my direction on the table while others are busy discussing an important event soon to take place in the main street. So someone noticed my dry throat. I know one of the Maxwell brothers passed me the glass of water…so for the very first time my gaze looks up and it turns out to be Kayden Maxwell. He is already looking at me with his elbow resting on the dinner table and carrying the weight of his chin on the back of his palm. Our eyes locked. Kayden Maxwell, the second brother. Black hair up to his neck and a few loose strands on his forehead. His beautiful gray eyes complementing his chiseled face are attractive and mischievous as if they're hypnotizing you. But the most gorgeous part about him? A light straight scar on his left eyebrow reaching underneath his left eye. Even with a scar his beauty is unmatched. I have only heard stories about him, and none of those stories were good. He is a biker and he loves them as if the bikes are his real love. Most of the time, he is involved in underground bike racing and wins every single race. He is the type who doesn't give a f*ck about rules and regulations. Also, he is never involved with women no matter how hard they try to seduce him. It's my first time meeting him face to face, that too, as new siblings. I can't believe he is my brother now!! His eyes softly point at the glass. I break eye contact between us and grab the glass in my hand. He gets up from his chair and heads back upstairs, ascending the same stairs. F*ck!! Don't tell me their rooms are upstairs. “Looks like Kayden is finished.” Evelyn murmurs. I drink the water and finish my dinner as quickly as possible. My soul is feeling suffocated in their strong family aura. I just want to go back to my room. “Since your college is closed…how about you take this time to get used to the main town with your brothers?” Right! It's November! We're having winter vacation and the college will open three days after Christmas in December. My lips just smiled at Evelyn's words. I get up from my chair. “Good night, Everyone.” “Good night, dear.” Evelyn wishes me back, the rest are unbothered. *** Upon coming back to my bedroom…I changed into a lace peach color nightdress that Poly already left on my bed. The straps on my shoulders are thin exposing much of my cleavage and the bottom length falls upto my thighs. My feet walk over to the bed, yet someone knocks at my door. “Who could it be at this hour?” I slowly approach the door with Poly in my mind. She's the only one who can knock at my door at this hour as my personal maid. My fingers grab the doorknob and twisting it pulls back the door. Only to see… Jace Maxwell The first brother and the most dangerous one as per the rumors. His fingers are touching the back of his neck as his elbow rests on the sidelight. Same mischievous gray eyes like Kayden, chiseled face, and thick black hair. He doesn't have any scar on his face. Seems like all the four brothers have the same gray eyes and black hair. Their features are the only thing that contrast them with one another. Even their Father has the same Gray eyes and black hair. He is wearing a full sleeve satin black shirt exposing half of his chest and black pants to match with it. My words are stuck in my throat while his gray eyes are observing every inch of my face and body. This is my first time ever to get so close to a Maxwell brother. I was invisible to them last year and they were out of my reach to even steal a glance of them. He tilts his head slightly with a smile on his charming lips. “May I come in, sister?” He asked in his deep voice.
