A lie

Liana's pov A strong clutch on my wrist pulls me away from Lucien and Flerena. My right arm hits a masculine chest and as I turn my head to the force…it's Nash Maxwell. He looks into my eyes and mumbles in a serious tone… “Your cat is acting strange upstairs!” “Cheryl?” My eyes widen with shock. I don't even say anything to anyone and run off to my room upstairs. Yet… Cheryl is absolutely fine. I turn around to go back but he is standing at the door. “What was that joke?” “Cheryl is fine!” He locks the door and walks over to me. “Stay here until they're gone!” His deep voice commands. “W-What? But why?” “What will Alpha Lucien think about me?” In the blink of an eye, a strong force more like an invisible wind pins me against the dressing table’s mirror aggressively. “Ouch!” He grabs my right wrist whereas his free hand circles around my waist. “I said stay in this room!” “But at least tell me why?” My brows furrow in frustration. “This is your brother's order and as my sweet sister…you should always follow your brother's command.” His eyes darkened. “Is that clear, sister?” *Gulp My head nods to his words. After a short silence of three seconds he frees my wrist from his grip and takes a few steps back, drawing a straight line between us. Isn't that funny? Just now he crossed that line!! My heart is still bouncing inside my chest, yet he is calm and composed. God knows why he wants me to stay inside my room when Alpha Lucien is here but I decided not to offend him. He's my brother, after all. Nash steps out of my room and I lock the door from inside. . . . In the evening… I open the door for Poly and ask her about the situation downstairs. “Alpha Lucien left.” She answers. “Did he say something about me?” My mind is anxious. It's not easy to meet Alpha Lucien but I had to stay in my room and avoid him because of Nash. “He understands that your cat is sick and needs you by her side. Alpha Lucien will soon pay you another visit.” I sigh. “Thank God!” My lips murmurs. Poly helps me undress and picks out a beige color nightdress. “Why are all my dresses so revealing?” Poly looks at me. “I am simply following the latest trends in Velverine, madam.” “Uh…okay…” Poly never smiles, she's like a robot. Or maybe… She doesn't like me. “Can I ask you something?” My lips break the silence between us as she starts untying my messy bun in front of the dressing table's mirror. I'm perched on the white cushion wooden chair with no backrest in my black lace lingerie whereas she is standing behind the chair and her fingers are engaged in my blue hair. “Of course, madam.” She answers. “Have you ever heard of The Night Wolves?” I ask. “My younger brother once mentioned this name a long time ago.” She replies unexpectedly. “Really? What is it?” “A secret society that is involved in various social services but no one really knows if the society really exists.” “How does your brother know about the secret society?” I ask one more question. “No idea about that.” “Will you please ask him for me?” My soft tone requests her. “He died two years ago.” “I am so sorry, Poly.” Guilt tightens my chest as her aura has crestfallen. This topic is sensitive to her, yet she answered my questions because she's my personal maid…bound to serve as per rules. “Don't worry about it, madam.” . . . Half an hour later… I come out of the washroom wearing the beige nightdress only to see Kayden Maxwell lying on my bed in a horizontal position reading a red diary. F*ck!! That's my personal diary!! I rush over to him and snatch the diary from his grip…yet in the hustle my feet slip on the floor and I stupidly tumble upon his body. His eyes look into mine as my blue hair drops down the left side of his face. But that's not the embarrassing part. My bre*sts are touching his chest and my legs are suddenly out of strength to get up on their own. This is my first time from such a close distance noticing his scar above his left eyebrow that is reaching underneath his eye in a straight line. The scar suits him. *Chuckles “What an interesting way to greet your brother…amazing!” He scoffed. “So sorry!” I am embarrassed like never before. Out of the blue… He grabs my waist and spins me around with his incredible fast speed…now he's the one on top. “This is much better.” The corner of his lips curls. I am shaking beneath him. “You shouldn't read anyone's personal diary without their permission.” My timid voice speaks up. “I didn't read much…just that you think your four brothers are hot and handsome…what else was there??” My cheeks flusters as he repeats the lines from my diary. I just want to hide inside my wardrobe and never come out. “Stop it, please!” “I meant it as a simple compliment.” His fingers slick back his dark hair. “You’re interesting, sister.” He gets out of the bed and walks over to Cheryl on the couch. “She looks fine…that ba*tard lied to everyone downstairs!” He is here to check on Cheryl. That's strange!! His head turns to me again. “I hope next time when uncle Lucien comes, your cat won't get sick.” He steps into my space and raises my heartbeat to the highest. “If you need anything or want to know something…feel free to always ask me despite the time.” “Thank you, brother.” He smiles and kisses my forehead. “Goodnight, sister.” This is normal, right? A brother can kiss his sister’s forehead. But why did it feel different? *** Meanwhile at the Cathedral… Dorian's pov Lord Silas summons me to his room. He is sitting on his red king size chair with a glass of whiskey in his right hand. “Have you heard the news?” He glares into my clueless eyes. “What news?” I question back. He rests the whiskey glass on the glass table in front of his chair. “The Maxwell family adopted the girl.” My heart drops to my stomach. It is already difficult to get my hand on her and now she is under their protection. Those f*ckers!! “The rest four clans found out about the ritual and the sacrifice. We have a f*cking mole inside who sold the news to our enemies.” “They will try everything to snatch the girl from our clan.” *Breath “When is the cleansing ritual?” My stressed voice inquires. The cleansing ritual will be done to purify her soul and energy for the main ritual. She needs to be pure as the devil will devour her in the end. The day of the cleansing ritual she has to be extra careful because even a tiny stain on her dress can ruin the ritual. “Two days later, we will have the cleansing ritual in the Maxwell farmhouse.” Silas says with a smile.
