Josey had finished the first draft of her project plan, material list, and full time employee budget funding request. It was getting late and she wanted to get to bed as soon as possible so that she would be on time in the morning. She packed her plans in her bag and exited the library.  “Let’s head ….” Before she could finish her command, Valin walked past her in his robe on his way to the concubine’s quarters. His hair was pushed back out of his freshly washed face. Sueli purred at the sight of him and Josey had to remind herself to breathe and look away. She was in the castle way  past the approved  time. She quickly checked her watch then bowed. “I am so sorry King Valin. I am in your home at an unreasonable hour. “ Josey said and kept her eyes to the floor. Valin grabbed his robe tightly. “You should be on your way. We wouldn’t want Cofer to worry too much.”  “Indeed.”  Josey curtsied then hurried to her room. Once they were out of his sight, Valin leaned against the wall.  “Her shorts, those boots. Ahhhh..Her baby bubble was so cute under that hoodie. ”Valin growled then covered his face. He was having all the wrong thoughts. He pushed himself away from the wall and increased his pace  to Dsa’s room. He had someone already and one of them was pregnant with his child. He took deep breaths and thought about holding Dsa. He finally arrived at her room then lightly knocked. – When Josey entered her room, she collapsed to the floor. It took everything in her not to look crazy yelling at Sueli while she was walking the dimmed halls of the castle. She grabbed her head and yelled, “Sueli calm down! In due time! In due time!” “He was heading to f**k one of those vampire whores! What the f**k, Josey!”  Sueli yelled back. “You know why they had to stay here. We are the same person! YOU were there! I’m not going to explain!”  A light knock came from the door. “My Queen, is everything okay?” Liv and Adiv asked at the same time. “We’re FINE!” Sueli growled back. The echo that came with her words could scare the strongest of men. . Josey could hear loud gasps from the twins then silence. Josey took another deep breath, trying to make sure her voice left her lips and not Sueli’s . “Goodnight Twins.” She uttered and then forcely picked herself off the floor and ran through the portal. Shion met her on the other side this time. She had been waiting in Josey’s room debating if she should panic. Josey was 3 hours late.  “Oh.. Good Evening Shion.” “My Queen..Please take care. The King would have my head if something happened to you.” She said as her voice trembled.  Josey took off her backpack and then took a seat at her vanity station. Shion gently removed her crown and worked to take down her hair . She then pulled her loose hair back up into a ponytail and tied ribbon tightly in four areas creating four sections on its tail. “There. Done. Please call me if you need me tonight.” Shion bowed and turned to leave. Josey nodded and stared into the mirror. “Kill her.” Sueli whispered “What was that, my Queen?” Shion turned quickly and asked. “Nothing Shion. You may leave.” Josey said without turning around. She stared into the mirror but she could not see her face. She could only see the darkness that encompassed Sueli. As soon as the door closed, Josey spoke to her, “What was the meaning of that?” “We must kill Dsa. Soon.” “Damn it, Sueli! “ Josey stood up quickly from the vanity station and turned her back to the mirror. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. When she turned back to the mirror, Sueli was gone.  While Sueli had been a constant focal point throughout the day , Josey could also feel Cofer. Since he was trying to block her mind-links he let his guard down with his emotions. It wasn’t like she felt some tear jerking feelings but he was tired mentally and physically. She walked into her bathroom and took off her clothes. Josey stepped out of her panties and walked down into the pool. “What are you doing, my love?” She whispered to herself. — The group were full stride into the most treacherous twenty-four hours of continuous travel and the first leg of their journey. Cofer had been floating on a powerful breeze since the moon’s light shone at its highest. In his smoke form he still had to work hard to stay on the current of air. He was exhausted. He had been running at top speed for fourteen hours and floating for three hours. Entering into Milv Forest was no easy feat. The outer realm was mainly swamp. The trees were covered with large spiders , snakes, and severely spiky branches. They needed to travel almost 800 miles as fast as possible. The gargoyle's wings were tired. They kept bumping into each other in the sky above him. The short breaks they took just were not enough to regain their energy.  Cofer laughed at his stupidity. He knew that the gargoyle's home was damn near inaccessible but he still made the promise to take them there just to win. He was sure the King of Wilshana, of old, did not find and capture these six gargoyles. He needed a demon or a vessel that harbored a demon soul in order to get into the outskirts of hell, if he made that far. It was also possible the water was  lower or not covered with moss and grass. Humans were probably at the top of the food chain also at the time.  These gargoyles were more than a 1000 years old. When they made a nest that’s where they lived for eternity. So there was no doubt that their home was there. If it wasn’t then the demon king chose to wipe their brethren from existence. He was their GOD after all. Cofer felt his eyes closing, he kept trying to think about the history of the forests and the gargoyles to keep himself awake. His personal trip to the gargoyle’s homeland was the reason he ended up being put to sleep for hundreds of years. He didn’t blame them. They didn’t know he had snuck into their nesting grounds. He was on the farthest edge of Haugle when he picked some weird looking fruit which he found out later was called devil’s fruit. The rest was a blur. He killed hundreds if not thousands of people in Tilium. When he came to, he was laying on a pile of corpses covered in blood. Every home for miles was on fire. He could still hear the screams of the  survivors and those in the process of dying.  He didn’t regret his actions, only that he was not technically conscious to remember them. He would later catch short video reels of his exploits. The violence and c*****e earned him his title that he wore with honor. Cofer smirked. He couldn’t fathom that an asshole like himself ended up with a woman  like Josey. He was sure that was why he was so jealous of Valin. His lips curled up as memories of his wife screaming Valin’s name into  the night filled his mind. They had less than a hundred and fifty miles to go. The gargoyles were carrying one of their youngest members who was having trouble staying awake. He was seriously having his doubts if they would make it the first leg of the trip but there was no turning back now.  He wanted so badly to try to summon a dimensional transporter. He learned very quick and the hard way that time flowed differently in the forest of Milv. This anomaly made it hard to enter a coordinate. This was something he also learned on his trip to Haugle. He created a transporter at the cliff of the forest behind his castle. When he went through it, he walked out into the middle of the swamp. He must’ve been 5 miles under the water. It took him what felt like an hour to reach the top. Between the beasts he had to fight off and the fact that the three feet of mulch, mud, and vines kept closing every time he cut it open, he was sure he would be trapped in the swamp eternity. The fighting  and trying to push through the mud and weeds lasted almost 3 hours. He was spent. It was something he never wanted to experience again. In the distance. Cofer spotted a several of the gargoyles taking a nose diving. He had been so lost in his thoughts that he lost track of the distance to solid land. “This isn’t good.” He thought. He flew as fast as he could to their aid. He grabbed one while the other three gargoyles grabbed the other two. They weren’t strong enough to keep the unconscious gargoyles and themselves from crashing into the swamp. Before Cofer could find a tree to land in or take hold of, he felt his eyes closing and panic filling his heart. Darkness soon took him.
