Yukino opened her eyes, blinking as the familiar ceiling of her bedroom greeted her.
Brother must’ve tucked her in last night after she passed out. Thinking about the ceremony made Yukino flinch, she didn’t expect it to be so painful. Yukino shivered when she remembered the bone breaking pain.
[So you’re finally awake.] Yukino heard the voice of Kami in her head and glanced down and saw that Kami was still around her neck but her kimono had been changed to a simple night dress.
“I died yesterday.”
[Stop being such a drama queen.] Yukino snorted. Looking out her window, she saw the sun had risen far beyond the horizon, frowning slightly she asked Kami.
“What time is it?”
[Almost noon.]
“Frick! I’m going to miss breakfast!” Yukino scurried off her bed and stepped onto the floor. Unfortunately, her legs which felt like jelly, collapsed under her causing her to kiss the carpeted floor.
Right as her brother, Kaito, and a couple of maids walked in.
An awkward silence followed as Yukino face planted the ground, Taiyo and the others just stared before Kaito -who had tried to hold down his laughter- bursted out laughing. Taiyo shook his head lightly and smiled. Yukino blushed a crimson red and shot Kaito a death glare, in which Kaito brushed off.
Once again facing the ground, Yukino clenched her teeth and fist, plotting her revenge.
Kami sweat dropped and watched the show unfold before her.
Yukino sniffled and started shaking, immediately her brother, Taiyo noticed.
“Yuki? Are you alright?” He asked, the question caused Kaito to shut up and also look at Yukino. “Yuki..?” Yukino continued not to respond.
Kaito stepped forward, “Hey, I’m sorry.. please don’t tell me you’re crying.” Kaito gestured to the maids who immediately went forward to help Yukino up. When she was up, Yukino kept her head down, hiding her face. Taiyo simply went forward and hugged Yukino, patting her head. For some reason Yukino actually started crying, maybe it was some pent up feelings she had when she had unknowingly died and put into a strange and written world, where she was bound to die one way or another. She didn’t know but she continued to cry as Kaito felt an uncomfortable and gut wrenching guilt settle in his stomach. Taiyo continued to pat her head until Yukino felt better.
When Yukino stopped crying she embarrassingly wiped her eyes and looked away. Kaito gave Taiyo something which he put on Yukino’s swollen eyes, which made her eyes turn back to normal. The only clue that showed that Yukino was crying were the misty eyes.
“Let’s go get something to eat.” Taiyo said as he continued to sooth Yukino. She nodded and let the maids quickly change her outfit.
The dining hall was already quite full, as all the royal family had gathered to eat. When Yukino’s parents saw her, they smiled, only to frown when they saw their daughter’s misty eyes, their glance at Taiyo demanded him to tell them what happened after the meal. Taiyo nodded.
Yukino scanned the dining hall and met Sakura’s eyes, she smiled and nodded, on the way to the hall, Taiyo had already informed Yukino about Sakura’s 100 on the test. Yukino wasn’t surprised at all since she was already informed before the ceremony even happened.
Taking her seat, the dinner soon started. The kings, queens, emperors, and empresses talked among themselves while their children mingled with each other after they finished the meal.
Yukino and Sakura somehow faced each other, causing many children to gather, wondering what would happen.
Yukino smiled and gave a graceful curtsy in which Sakura returned.
“Congratulations on your score. It’s been thousands of years since the world has seen a 100.” Yukino said while giving Sakura a bright smile.
“Thank you for your compliment, your score is also just as amazing as mine.” Sakura replied, Yukino smiled.
The two girls just continued to look at each other when a hooded figure appeared.
“Your highnesses, I apologize for disrupting you right now, but I wish to tell you something.” Sakura and Yukino looked at each other then nodded, telling the hooded person to continue, “Well.. you see,” he started off sheepishly, “Due to our shock yesterday, we forgot to tell you your elements.”
“Oh.” Yukino and Sakura’s eyes both widened when they realized that their element, or elements has yet to be announced. Now, their parents had also gathered
“Your highness Yukino, you have snow, ice and wind.” Gasps were heard, three elements! Three! “And her highness Sakura, you have light and earth.” Even more gasps were heard.
Everyone glanced at someone, all mentally conveying the same message. These two were geniuses!
Yukino smiled slightly as she talked with Kami.
“Ice and wind are nice but snow..? What am I gonna do with snow?”
[Hey, don’t underestimate it.]
“Ah, yes. I’m just gonna bury someone alive in it!” Yukino replied to Kami, sarcasm dripping from every word. Yukino heard Kami sigh.
[You'll learn. Eventually.]
Yukino huffed but didn’t say anything, she then watched as crowds were surrounding both her and Sakura’s parents.
The breakfast eventually came to an end as each family trickled out. Yukino’s parents pulled Taiyo into their study to talk so Yukino went back to her bed.
In a couple of minutes, she fell asleep, only to be woken up in what felt like a second.
“Your highness, their majesties are asking for you.”
“Mother and father are asking for me?”
“Yes.”
“I’ll be right there.” Yukino shook her head. What did her parents want with her?
Yukino entered the study and saw her parents along with her brother standing there.
“Mother. Father.” Her parents smiled at her.
“You must be wondering why we called you over here today.” Yukino nodded, “What would you like to do?”
