I looked from my mom to my dad but they all looked disinterested in the fact that Ray had known that Ava was his mate for the past two years and has kept it a secret.
"But mom, have you even cared to ask him about what the problem could be,"I asked in exasperation.
My mom rolled her eyes and sat on the couch,"You should concentrate on becoming stronger and leave things that are not important."She waved my words off.
I turned a pleading gaze at my dad but he just shrugged. Of course he doesn't like standing against mother.
"But Ray is your son and he's going through something rough, you should be there for him."
"Rose.."She yelled, I couldn't help but keep mute.
Her eyes turned red, her claws elongated.
"Rose, please go up to your room and don't come out until I tell you to,"
I hurried upstairs with my heart drumming against my chest in a frenzy. I rub my arms as I rushed into my room feeling the goosebumps and threw my backpack on the bed.
My mom almost went Wolfie on me. Something is really going on in this pack and I need to find out why my my is edgy this days. I take a deep breath and I pulled off my clothes.
Ava complained about trying to talk to Ray but he ran off and anytime he sees her, he would just avoid her.
Tomorrow is the full moon, I feel edgy too. Ray didn't get a strong wolf, possibility that I wouldn't get a strong wolf too wasn't far off.
It's still early in the morning, Ava said something about sneaking in to find out about those that died. She thinks that it wasn't just a rogue attack.
I changed into a black leggings and white polo. I need a breath of fresh air but my mom might still be wolfing out downstairs with dad trying to calm her down.
My bedroom is on the second floor. Without getting a wolf, jumping from here would be suicide.
I also cannot sneak past my parents. After Tomorrow, my life is going to change maybe for the worst cause it can't get better.
I rub my sweaty palms against my dress and walk to the window. I looked down at the floor, the distance is far making me dizzy.
I turned to my door and make sure I locked it well, although my mom could teleport into my room, I feel she might intend to use the door.
Looking back at the floor, I mustered enough courage and climbed out the window.
The building has a railing that connects to the top so I just have to grab one and slowly climb down.
I stretched and grabbed the railings, I could have just used the door. Someone might see me hanging like this like some crazy person.
The ground seems farther than it looks, no matter how many times I tried, I couldn't climb down. I shut my eyes in annoyance.
Feeling weak and drained, I held onto the rails tightly, I wish I was on the ground already.
My head felt dazy and I felt a flutter on my back. I snapped my eyes open to find my self on the ground.
I quickly get on my feet and looked up at the railings and down to the ground. Did I just teleport.
I frown as I realized I got my mom's powers, her Alpha's powers seems more dominant in me. I quickly walked away from my house to where Ava asked us to meet.
I sneaked into the woods and head for the clearing, I sight Ava with three others sitting on the grass.
Her face lits up and she beams immediately she sees me, "I was starting to think you were not going to show up again."She smiled and stands, walking over, she pulls me to the rest, two girls and one boy.
"These are my friends, Ken and Tessa are siblings and Lizzie,"She introduced us.
They nodded at me and I nodded back, Ken is one of the new pack warriors, he has a long wavy brown hair and was two or three years ahead of us while his sister Tessa is the pack nurse, she's young and has been working in the pack infirmary for a while.
I don't know much about Lizzie apart from the fact that she's a pack member.
"I believe all of us are on the same page on this but because of Rose, we will go over it again."Ava said.
They also nodded. Ava pointed at the clearing and we all sat down. She lifted her hands up and a stack of files appears on her hand.
My mouth dropped open and Ava winks when her eyes meet mine. She could summon stuffs.
She dropped the stacks of files in front of us and opens it,"I have been making investigation about the deaths in our pack for the past two years."
They all nodded and Ava pushed over the files to me and I pulled it opened. Different pictures of the attacked victims over the years.
"At first I thought there were just rogues attacks but after Ken's brother was killed.."
My head snapped to Ken, I never even realized he lost his brother. He gave me a soft smile and I returned to going through the photos.
..we realized that something was off, these weren't just rogues attacks so Ken and I started investigating these attacks."
I looked up at Ava, I feel dread at her tone.
"Each victim had a black swelling close to the point they were s***h like some poison."
I returned to the photos and she wasn't lying, each victim had a black swelling cause to their wounds.
"And do you know the scariest part,"Ken asked.
I dropped the photos and looked at him, my palms got sweaty, I wasn't cut out for any of this.
"We came to a conclusion that this poisoning couldn't be caused by a wolf but a monster."
I chuckled and closed the files. "A monster, I mean I haven't heard of anything like that before.."
Ava shook her head. "As much as this theories doesn't sound true, I think it's reasonable because we have done our research, Ken tell her what you found."
I raised a brow waiting for Ken to spill more unbelievable craziness, "I interrogated some rogues near the borders and some of them claim to see a huge monster at night with an appearance of a stone and red eye."
I chuckled again and my eyes wander to the rest of them, "You all seem to be really into this monster theory."
The other girl Lizzie seemed angry that I didn't believe their stories, "You need to take this seriously, the life of a lot of people are at stack and we need to believe to be able to save them."She said.
I shook my head,"That's why we have the Alpha, he would have told us if it were something this serious but since it isn't something..
Ken stood up and glared at me. "The death were mostly once or twice a month but recently it has been increasing to twice a week."
I shook my head again, his theories were unbelievable, things like this were unheard of, "It might just be that the rival pack are trying to scare us to being afraid."
I looked at Ava who shooked her head, "I don't think that the Alpha knows about this, last week..."She paused and looked at Ken who nodded at her to continue.
"Last week after a lot of rumors, the Alpha took a few of the pack warriors and laid waiting for the rogues..."
I smiled,"See, nothing happened right?"
They had just theories. Stone looking monsters killing werewolves. I wish I could believe that.
"They got attacked but they couldn't see the monster, it was invisible and powerful,"
I raised my hands in disbelief,"Our Alpha is powerful, he can defend the pack."
"He lost his powers after the attacks and he has been recuperating since, we can't depend on him to defend us."
I stood up, feeling suffocated and tired but I barely got here, their words were starting to get to me.
"The future of the pack rests on our hands Rose, how long do you think this monster has before our warriors will be reduced to half,"Ava said.
I shook my head,"I'm not cut out for all of this, I just want a normal life."
The three laughed and Ken said, "You can't have a normal life if you are the Beta's daughter and I have been wondering, what abilities do you have."
Ava turned to me and I shrunk back, I couldn't let them know. I shrugged.
Ava smiled,"I can summon things if I know where they are and I can make water to boil."
Tessa stood and looked at the sky, the beautiful sunlight suddenly darkened and became cloudy like it's about to rain.
Tessa smiled and twirled around, "I can control the weather."
Ken stood up and winked, he bows,"Let's go for a ride."He leaps up and stands mid air.
"Woah"I gasp out. I have only heard of this ability.
Ava nudge my arms,"You will only add to his ego when you keep your mouth that wide."
I shut my mouth as Ken landed on his feet.
Lizzie smiled and held her hands up, her icy blue eyes twinkled with mischief. "No need to use my abilities, I can put people to sleep."
"Woah.."I muttered.
Ava turned to me,"So what are your abilities."
I shrugged. I don't want to tell others that I could control birds. Weird. I teleported today but I don't know how to.
"I don't have any abilities,"
They all give me a skeptical look. I don't have any cool abilities.
"Well that's okay, we hope to have more abilities after the full moon."
I nodded.
"My..
I paused as a twig snap. "I think someone else is here.."I said.
Ken nodded,"He's gone.."
Ava muttered something inaudible, I noticed her gloomy eyes.
"What's wrong??"I asked.
She looked skeptical and sighed, "I think it was Ray."
"Like my brother Ray,"I asked
She nodded and I felt my heart clenched in my chest. Guilt. My brother could think otherwise.
"I need to go.."
"Rose.."Ava called out.
I paused and glanced back at her. "Can you talk to your brother for me, he's hurting me."She said with a sad look.
I just nodded and ran off, Ray and I were not on speaking terms and I doubt he even wants to talk to me anyway. I needed to get back home before my mom finds out that I'm not in my room.
