CHAPTER 7 –––––––– I SOMETIMES WONDERED how I could have been so sad about being alone and about having to do the same damn thing every damn day. It seemed like heaven whenever I looked back now. It was a pity that I hadn’t known how to appreciate what I had. Now, the only moments I had for myself were two hours at night, but in order to have those two hours, of course, I had to sleep less to create a reserve. All the other time I had left, I had to fight over everything and with everyone. I fought with my Irish advisor because nothing I’d say counted. He knew the business scene in Paris better than I. I fought my personal assistant. Everything Ian or Philippe would say was important and I was just some extra baggage in the office. That made her ignore me and my requests all the time.
