CHAPTER 6 DANIEL PATTERSON I was waiting for Clara whom I'd planned to spend the night with and she was taking too long. I took off my shirt and read through some documents. There was a light knock on my door. "Come in," I muttered and Clara came in. She was in a red short dress that hugged her body tightly and revealed her shape. She looked too sexy. "Hello, Rider," she greeted sexily but I ignored her. I just sat there and stared at her with a frown on my face. "How many times do I have to tell you not to wear such revealing clothes? You are just mine and no man should see what's mine." I spat angrily and she laughed sexily, throwing her head back, teasing me and something stirred in my jeans but I didn't move. "This is not only for you, Daniel, you don't give me money anymore and I also need to survive, you know." She retorted huskily as she looked around the room. "We aren't doing anything today, Clara. You've killed my vibe. You can leave or stay if you want." I said sternly. "Are you sure?" She did a short lap dance with a sexy smile but I gave her a lopsided grin and shook my head. "I mean it, Clara." "Alright. I'll spend the night here then, let's see if you can resist this." She yelled angrily, standing up and striping the dress off, leaving her in red lingerie. I just stared at her. "You still don't want it?" I moved on to read the documents and she left to the bathroom to take a bath. She came out after she was done and had a small town wrapped around her body. I ignored her teasing and focused on my work. "So how's business going?" I turned to her because she never asks those questions. "I've spoken with my father, I'm quitting taking care of the club. I want the oil company." I relaxed in my chair. "Well, that's nice. But you were good at the club. Why waste talent?" "Why waste my life? I don't want to be rich for something bad. I want be famous for something good. The police cases are getting too much." I complained. "Has he agreed? "Yes, only but it's on his stupid 'get married or get serious conditions'." "Why don't you tell him you want to marry me?" I glanced up at Clara leaning on the drawers and shook my head. "He knows I'm not that serious about you. I have to find someone else. Someone he won't approve." "I love you because the decisions you take are final and when you set your mind to something you do everything to get it. What haven't you been able to achieve?" She said enthusiastically. "That Edward girl," I muttered, clenching my fist. "What? A girl?" She broke into laughter as she sat on the bed. I felt hurt. "And why are you laughing?" "Serves you right. You are never lucky with women." She advised. "Why am I always unlucky with women? Why?" "Because you make weird demands and it's pretty annoying. You talk like you own everyone. I like you and I want you to be my w***e. Are you in or out?" Clara mimicked me and laughed again, I rolled my eyes at her. "Then how should I say it?" "Be a little romantic, take it slow, we girls love it when you are a gentleman at proposing. We also want you to care or at least show that you do." "Well, I don't have time for that. I got you eventually that's what will happen with that Edward girl, you'll see." I felt determined all of a sudden. She was going to be the perfect person for the job. All I needed was more time with her and she would agree. "Good luck, lover boy." She waved and got under the covers to sleep. I continued to work, then decided to give her a call. It rang a few times before she picked up. "What is it?" Her voice sounded as if she had been crying. "Hey, what's wrong?" She sniffled before replying. "Look, I am not in the mood to talk about your stupid Ferrari okay? My brother is in the hospital fighting for his life and can rich people for once not remind us how unlucky we are?" she yelled and I could tell that it all came from pent-up anger inside of her. I could say nothing for a whole minute as I listened to her cry at the end of the phone. "Where are you now? Which hospital are you in?" She laughed but I was serious. "Do you want to make a big deal out of this?" "Alyssa, if you don't tell me where you are this very instant, you will not like this Ferrari guy one bit. Just tell me where you are and I will reduce your p*****t by half." I waited for her to reply but the line was silent for a long minute. She sniffed again and said, "I'll send you the address." She hung up and I rose from the bed, throwing out my documents and searching for my shirt. I found my shirt and I flipped it on quickly, taking my leather jacket. I didn't even say goodbye to Clara. I just headed straight to the hospital when my message tone rang with the address to the hospital. +++++ ALYSSA EDWARDS "Who did you go to call?" Frank asked, his eyes drooping as he laid on the bed. "I went to call the bank where I keep my money. They are making some transactions for me." I explained, trying to hide my tears. "Don't cry. These are the reasons I didn't want anyone to know." He complained. "But how could we help you if you hide this. Look at the damage it has caused." "Don't waste your money on the surgery. Too much damage has been done. Just take care." Tears fell from Frank's eyes and I broke into tears. I held his hand tightly. "You are going to survive this. I'm not going to give up on you just because you are being stubborn. Even if I have to sell the house to get you treated so be it. But you need to undergo the surgery." I assured him. The doctor who was in charge of Frank entered. "The surgery has been paid for." My eyes went wide at that statement. I had called my bank just a few minutes ago and there was no way that they knew what I was going to do with that huge sum my mother left me for college. "By w–" I cut myself off before Frank asked me about lying to him.  "We have to take him to the surgery room so please excuse us." He informed as the nurse fixed the IV and they pushed Frank out. I rushed out of the room and found Daniel standing outside of the door in a black leather jacket and black pants staring at me with what I had to mistake for concern. "You paid for–" He nodded. "Before you scold me. I did that because I want you and your brother full and healthy to be able to pay for my car. He can help you pay for your debts really fast or you can take up my work. It's as simple as that." I sniffled and shook my head. My whole head was fuzzy right now.  "Have a cup of tea with me, Miss Alyssa. Will you?" +++ Daniel led me to a table and before I could drop into the chair he had pulled for me, I broke into tears again. Throwing my hands into my face, I bulged my eyes out with the built-up tears and anger inside of me. What was I going to do if something had happened to Frank? I could not lose someone else too. he was the only person I had. I was scared. "Hey, hey, Don't cry. I don't know how to comfort people." He warned, looking ahead but I couldn't stop. "Hey." He poked me but I turned and hugged him, crying into his shirt. He froze at first but he set his cup aside and hugged me. "Hey, hey calm down." "What if I lose him because I wasn't being attentive and wasn't watching closely, what... What if... " "You won't. That doctor in charge is my dad's best friend and he's an expert so don't worry." He encouraged but I couldn't stop crying. ____ Thanks for reading
