Chapter 14

Finally, I am feeling like I am living my life.

After so many years of being trapped in the past finally I am setting myself free.

Mommy, Kuya wherever you are I hope that you guys are happy for me. I know that unlike Dad you don’t blame me for what happened even in Kuya’s last breath he told me it wasn’t my fault nothing that happened was my fault.

I miss you both so much! I am sure that you guys will also want me to be happy.

I got our family picture and gave it a peck I miss them so much.

Na pa tingin naman ako sa phone ko.

Hindi na ako kinontact ni Dad, hinayaan nya na din ako talaga.

A part of me is happy that he finally let me but there’s also a part of me hoping that maybe Dad will wake up one day and ask how I was doing.

He doesn’t need to say much, as long as he remembers me.

I finished preparing at exactly eight thirty. Maureen still hasn’t called to tell me that she’s already downstairs so I still had the chance to check myself out in the  mirror. I decided to wear a dress that I bought from chanel. Simple night dress which matched my perfect skin tone and highlighted my physique. I am a less is more kind of person kaya I don’t like to always look grand.

After putting on some light make up and curling my hair just in time I heard my phone ringing and saw Maureen’s name on the screen.

I immediately answered it.

“Hey what’s up?” I asked her.

“I am already down stairs princess. Are you done? We still haven’t decided where to go. Tara na ba?” she asked me excitedly.

Maureen is such a city girl, even noong nasa Cebu palang kami and college palang she is such a very out going kind of person. Siya ang kauna unahang tao na nakapag sama sa akin sa bar. I still remember it was on Majika, I lost in our bet and she made me go to a bar as a consequence. I personally don’t go to those kind of places kasi I don’t think its safe but Maureen is very persistent.

She even told me that one of her bucket list in life is to help me get myself a life.

“Yes yes, I am ready sige I’ll just go to the parking lot then call you once I am outside the condo okay? Don’t wait for me outside just stay at the lobby hanggang wala pa ako. Are we clear Maureen?” I asked her.

I don’t know why but after what happened to my mom and my kuya I have been so how do I say this I’ve been a little bit paranoid I was always cautious whenever I am outside it was probably the trauma the I have suffered.

It was really heartbreaking probably the exact reason why now sobrang ingat at protective ko na don sa mga tao na malalapit sa akin, ayoko ng maulit yung nakaraan.

“Yes. Heard you girl! Loud and clear.” Maureen answered to me.

Pagkasabi nya noon ay agad na akong bumaba sa parking para kunin yung sasakyan ko.

Pagdating ko sa harap ng condo I immediately texted her. Maureen is such a lazy ass sobrang tamad nya even walking annoys her so much kaya hindi mo sya mapapunta sa parking lot unless she’s in her car.

I saw her outside looking really really stunning.

“You look nice.” I complimented her.

She giggled like a little kid and then wiggled her eyebrows at me.

“I know right?! You don’t look to bad yourself. I don’t wanna compliment you anymore we both know you are way damn more beautiful to me hindi ko pa din nakakalimutan ang pagkatalo ko sayo as Ms. Intrams. Even though I befriended the students they still betrayed me because you are prettier than me.” She said while pouting.

Hindi ko mapigilan na matawa sa kwento nya sa totoo lang paulit ulit nya yang sinasabi sa akin she even told me na before sobrang insecure sya sa akin but then wala naman daw mangyayari sa buhay nya dahil kahit naman anong pagiinsecure ang gawin nya hindi daw magbabago yung fact na mas maganda ako sa kanya kaya tinanggap nya nalang ang katotohanan.

Can you see how different we are from each other? Siguro that is the same reason why of all people I let Maureen know me for who I am I let her inside my life and get to know me because I feel so alive when she’s around. She’s literally like an angel for me.

“Hahaha come one kalimutan mo na yun. Mas maganda ka na sa akin ngayon. Anyways, I googled some place here and I really found this place interesting sab isa mga feedbacks hindi daw crowded sa bar na to and mga elites lang ang mga nagpupunta because of the rates and their menu. And what I like most about it is that its really safe daw. The name of the bar is Atom have you been there? Is it good?” tanong ko naman kay Maureen.

She stopped for awhile and then looked at me.

“I have been there but its just fine for me. Cant we go somewhere else?” she asked again.

I just frowned at her reaction.

“Come on you know I always want the safest place di ba doon nalang tayo and then sa susunod we can go somewhere  you like. Pwede na ba yon sayo?” I asked her also.

I don’t want to risk it of course.

“Hay nako okay, dahil bagong salta ka pagbibigyan kita basta next time don tayo sa Caliblu mas madami kasing tao don di ba the more the merrier baka maka hanap ka don ng boyfriend. For sure hindi magkakanda mayaw ang shots naten makakatipid pa tayong dalawa!” proud na proud nyang sabi.

Tawa naman ako ng tawa sa kanya.

“Come on don’t sound like someone who needs a man to pay for her drink you can even buy them you b***h!” natatawang biro ko sa kanya.

She just laughed at my remarks and then we came to the place.

Like I expected it shouts class and exclusiveness.

Maureen and I went inside together. The bouncer immediately smiled at Maureen and greeted her.

“Good evening Ma’am Maureen and to the very beautiful lady beside you. Do you want the same spot to be reserved?”

I looked at Maureen as if I was telling her to explain to me she just frowned at me and then smiled.
