Chapter 8
The national news interrupts its account of the captured terrorists with Breaking News. Taylor shushes his companions. Everyone in the room watches intently while the news anchor says, “Yosemite National Park Rangers report that Marine One—while flying in thick fog—has crashed into a canyon wall in the park. A full investigation is underway. We have no word about who was in the chopper—or if it carried the President of the United States. We’ve been told that the other two helicopters are safe and headed to Vandenberg Air Force Base.”
Becka gasps. “This is surreal. How could this happen? They were just here.”
Julie sobs and grabs Becka’s hand. Together they watch the horror as it unfolds on television.
