Chapter Eight:
Officially meeting the Vampire Demon Prince, Jaeden Kingston.
—
Third Person’s Point of View
“I am no monster. I am the demon.”
Arth had stifled a loud gasp, a hand covered her mouth. She was already expecting it. That this man before her was the Prince Jaeden that everyone was talking about and giving her some warnings. With all of the information that she had gathered, all of them describe him in a way that should be feared and horrified.
But none of them mentioned how good looking Prince Jaeden was.
He had this utterly white complexion as if his skin was made out of porcelain which made him look pale. Aside from that, he had such beautiful and menacing red crimson eyes. One that could immediately get lost while just staring into it. The way his eyes spoke volume more than his facial expression was something that Arth could not quite shrug the idea of. While she continued to examine his facial features, she also took a note of how long his eye lashes were and it surely complimented the color of his eyes. The color of his hair was similar to the color of a raspberry as it was bright red. In a herd of people, Arth would probably distinguish him so easily because of the color of his hair.
Prince Jaeden had thick eyebrows, hollow cheeks, a pointy nose, well sculpted jawline, and plump red lips. However, what had struck Arth the most was the protruding dimples on both of his cheeks even though he kept an impassive expression on his face. Aside from that, his build was something that screamed of elegant and classy. While he appeared to look tall and fit, Arth is certain that this man had a muscular body. For the way he had held her earlier, made Arth hold onto him like her life depended on it.
Which it did.
In that very moment, she had a quick grasp on his body and immediately noticed how muscularly hard he was well sculpted.
After a minute of dead silence, Arth quickly shrugged off all of the thought and then choked at her own saliva. She coughed for about a few seconds before recollecting herself and her posture.
She should definitely be swayed by the beauty that this man holds.
Her nose twitched then crossed an arm over her chest, “Well, I am Satan. Now bow before your ruler.” She had beckoned in a serious tone, her facial expression turned into a more somber look.
Prince Jaeden remained an impassive look but his brows knitted together as his plump red lips pursed into a thin line. On the back of his mind, he was perplexed at the human’s word before him. He thought that this juice bank was one of the bonkers that he used to have over the years.
“Are you… unwell?” Prince Jaeden asked, as he was kind of bewildered at the attitude that this human was showing him.
Tilting her head sideways, Arth scoffed at the question. She rolled her eyes heavenwards before answering, “Well, it was nice meeting you Prince Jaeden. Next time, do not jump off from the sixth floor. You have a weird hobby.” She responded, disregarding Prince Jaeden’s question once more.
All of a sudden, Prince Jaeden’s jaw clenched in tension as his hands were also tightly fisted into a ball in his sides. His jaw moved and Arth noted the fact that he was grinding his teeth then his adam's apple bobbed up and down.
He seemed to be… provoked or some sort.
Quietly taking a step back, Arth unconsciously bit her lower lip as she did not know how to respond to the man’s reaction. Earlier he was so well composed and now, with Arth’s words, he suddenly looked like he was close to losing it.
At that very moment, Arth thought that she made him mad to the point that he wanted to suck all of her blood in her system and leave her lying on the cold ground, cold and dead.
Unsure of how things escalated, Arth had this urge to apologize for something she is not certain that had triggered the mad. But she stayed silent and waited for him to respond instead of running away and escaping the castle grounds.
“You are my juice bank, right?” The tone that Prince Jaeden set was eerie. His words were utterly harsh and stern as if he was already sentencing Arth to her death.
Nodding her head slowly, Arth had swallowed the fear in her throat and dared to answer. “The one and only.”
Prince Jaeden scoffed at her answer but it was not a laughter that was pure. It was more like he was mocking her. One that Arth had immediately noticed. “A mere blood slave talking back to his master…” There was a pause from him. “My, my, my. You must have a death wish, human.” He spat, words laced with so much venom and for that very second, Arth had regretted the way she had treated him.
For sure, Arth had underestimated him.
When other juice banks mentioned how much of a demon he was, she did not have this in mind. For Arth had never really encountered one. This is her first one and she thought to herself that this is also her last.
Decreasing the proximity between the two of them, Arth could not help herself but to flinch. She already knew what was going to happen as she felt Prince Jaeden’s cold body close to hers. He was not breathing, that she was certain of. Vampires do not breathe so all she could feel was the coldness from his body adding to the coldness of the place.
She closed her eyes, already welcoming her inevitable death.
All of the ideas of fleeing the place were now out of the drain. She stays immobilized in her tracks as she awaits for the Demon Prince to suck her blood until she’s no longer alive.
So this is what her life had transpired into.
Being a food source for a royal vampire. Arth did not even have the chance to have a family of her own as she had always dreamt to become a mother and bear a child. Having a huge family, she had always imagined herself in the same situation as to what her current family has. Being raised in a caring and loving family, she had ought to do the same for her future children.
However, all of those thoughts do not matter anymore for she will soon expire in this world.
Minutes passed but nothing had happened. She thought that when a vampire drinks blood from you, it must have hurt. But how come she barely felt anything? Is she already dead and had no knowledge that the vampire already drained all the blood from her body?
Fluttering her eyes open, Arth stilled the moment that she saw the raspberry color hair close to her face. Then for a second, felt the cold lips of Prince Jaeden on her bare neck. The feeling had caused her to shiver as she was still not used to the coldness of his body.
“You smell so sweet… like caramel and a marshmallow.” Prince Jaeden uttered softly after withdrawing his lips on Arth’s neck as he sniffled her scent and then took a step backward from her, widening the gap between them.
Confused, Arth could not quite grasp what just happened. She initially thought that he was going to feed off her.
However, all he did was place a chaste kiss on her neck?
What in the bloody hell?!
“I-I,” Arth stammered as she could not find the words to speak.
Prince Jaeden cleared his throat and then spoke. “Best we should head back to my room.” He mumbled softly.
Then in an instant, Arth released a deep breath. Only she had noticed that she was holding her breath for too long when Prince Jaeden was near her. She was almost gasping for air as she felt suffocated in her tracks. She even let out a cough to try and steady her breathing.
Her mind immediately wandered off to the time that she was panicking and her father, King Anthony Wfauzhle of the Zeindall Kingdom, helped her steady her breath by giving her some proper breathing exercises.
“Inhale...Exhale...Inhale… Exhale….” She had chanted in her mind, remembering her father’s voice and she almost choked in tears upon grasping the fact that she did not have her father personally to help her right now.
All of a sudden, a cold hand reached for her back, slowly caressing it. “Hey, calm down.” Prince Jaeden muttered in such softness that Arth almost screamed in shock.
“Do not touch me!” She yelled at him, dodging his hands away and with steady breaths she transfixed her gaze towards the man before him. “Do not come near me!”
Prince Jaeden was taken aback. The human was now becoming more… human. Her true emotions were showing unlike before when she had the audacity to talk back to him. Deep inside him, he was thankful for the change of attitude from the human.
For all the years that Prince Jaeden lived being an undead, it was his first time to encounter a human that talked back to him. All of the juice banks assigned to him had always cowered in fear, crying their eyes and hearts out begging their life to be spared.
It was a never ending version of a weak human.
Then this one came along, he thought that she was different. Her stance, the way she talked and the way she had disrespected him. Something about it made him stunned. Moreover, when he saw the human when he saved her from falling, he was also baffled.
Arth had a midnight blue glossy hair that was almost similar to the color of black but even at the dim night sky, Prince Jaeden noticed that there was a hue of blue in her hair. She had almond shaped marble eyes, something that he had not seen before in the eyes of any human assigned to him. She also had bangs, hiding her small forehead and would sometimes fall over her long eyelashes. Her nose was small and it was given as she had a small face aligning with her small and petite body. Aside from that, her cheekbones were high and her jawline was profound. Along with her smooth and fair complexion and skin.
And her lips… it was plump and red.
There was a sudden urge from him to draw closer to it. However, he held back as all ounces of self control swirled in his system.
She looked ethereal… sublime even.
Prince Jaeden never felt like this for a human before. He had always been detached from everyone and did not bother to even talk to them. But with Arth, it was a different case.
“You should calm down.” Prince Jaeden commented looking at the enraged human.
“I thought you were going to feed off of me! Just do it! End my life quickly!” Arth yelled hysterically.
All of a sudden, reality punched Jaeden in the gut.
This human had a gist of what he is. Why did he not think of that? It was exactly what she said earlier. She called her a demon. Meaning a lot of other juice banks had already warned her from him.
Like he had no other choice, he retracted his fangs and showed it to the human.
Arth flinched at the sight, completely horrified. “Do you wish to die?” Sternly as ever, he asked. “As you wish, human.” He added, not waiting for any response from Arth.
