Chapter Nine: A place where she does not belong. — Third Person’s Point of View “Ahhh!” Instead of feeling fangs barred onto her neck, Arth felt Prince Jaeden’s cold body and the gust of wind enveloping the entirety of her. She screamed in horror with the sudden feeling and with her eyes closed as she was scared of what was happening around her but did not have the power to look at what just occurred. All she felt was like she was being lifted up in the clouds at such a fast rate that she felt like she was on some kind of ride. It was the total opposite of what she had felt when they both fell from the sixth floor of the castle. Loud thud invaded her ears and the sudden fleeting moment ended in just a matter of seconds. Upon having the courage to pen her marbled gray eyes, she was welcomed with red crimson orbs. Once again, she felt as though she was being sucked into some kind of blackhole just by the gaze of Prince Jaeden. It was something that she could not even explain so before anything happened, she quickly jumped off from his hold and then straightened her posture. Looking around the place, Arth noticed that they were back in the balcony adjacent to Prince Jaeden’s room. In other words, he jumped from the ground to the sixth floor while holding Arth in his arms. “Bloody hell,” She released a deep sigh, catching her breath once more. “What in the world are you trying to do?” Arth exclaimed, her eyes throwing daggers at the man. “Is this a fun thing for you? Because I am sure as hell that I am not enjoying any second of it! Stop messing with me!” She barked at him, obviously livid as to what he was doing with her. Arth was just waiting for her death sentence to come for two times already but this so-called demon prince was not even drinking blood from her. Contrary to what everyone just said, this vampire prince will immediately drain your blood the moment he takes a look at you. While here was Arth, still alive and moving. If she could remember how time works, she would have been with him for more than twenty minutes already. Uncertain whether that was a good thing or not, Arth just could not bear the fact that Prince Jaeden was prolonging her time by playing some kind of scheme towards her. Ever since she had woken up from this place, her heart had felt heavy. Oike there was some sort of darkness looming over it and she was trying so hard to ignore that fact but now that she is faced with the infamous Demon Prince, the weight is taking a toll on her. “Speak you undead creature!” She yelled at him. On the other hand, Prince Jaeden had a stoic expression plastered on his face. There was no hint of emotions in sight as he looked at Arth. He had this dead look on his face that quite suited his true nature. However, Arth just had enough of everything then her fearless and sarcastic side just took control of her. Instead of giving an answer to the human, Prince Jaeden turned back from the balcony and then strode towards his room. Obviously leaving Arth behind as though he did not hear what she just said. Arth scoffed as her mouth hung agape. “He is surely testing my patience.” She muttered to herself as she followed the man inside his room. The moment that he had entered the room, he noticed that Prince Jaeden was gulping down what seemed like water inside a glass since the liquid was transparent. For a second, Arth was confused as she initially thought that vampires only drink blood. Well, it was what was stated in books and the moment she grew aware of the place she woke up to, other humans made it clear that human blood is the vampire’s source of food. So vampires drink water too? She thought to herself, quite amazed by that fact. “Hey!” She called his attention, even raising her hand and waving it off to his direction. Prince Jaeden took every self control that he has not to look sideways and shifted his crimson eyes to the human. As he placed the glass on his bedside table, his other free hand rested on his temple. He felt as though he was going to have a headache. He surely did not have the time for this. Aside from what happened earlier at the meeting in the royal court, the least that he wanted is to deal with such a bossy and a bonker human. Of all juice banks that were supposed to be assigned to him, this one was surely a breath of fresh air. However, with all that was served on his plate, he has no time to deal with her stupidity. If only she can drink her blood— “Are you really not going to pay me any attention?” Arth belted at him, immediately halting his thoughts. Hands reaching for the tie wrapped around his neck, he swiftly loosened the knot but did not completely untie it. “There is a room next to this one, your room. Go there and shut your mouth.” He commanded, his voice full of authority. Arth’s mind wandered to his statement. Why is there a room beside his and why was it hers? Is that some kind of juice bank room where his blood slave sleeps and then he will go creep inside the room and drink their blood while they are asleep? The thought made Arth shiver in her tracks. “No,” She quickly responded. As if taking a hint of what was going through the human’s mind, Prince Jaeden let out an exasperated sigh. “I will not drink your blood if that is your concern. I will retire for the day. The moment that the next day comes, the king’s royal guards will take you out of my room and we will never meet again.” With furrowed brows, Arth was confused as a new born baby. She did not understand anything that he just said. No, not in a way that she was illiterate. But in a way that she was confused the moment that Prince Jaeden mentioned not drinking her blood. “Wait, what do you mean?” She quickly said before the man could walk towards what seemed like a walk-in closet. “You are not drinking my blood?” The way her voice sounded offended made Prince Jaeden let out a snicker. “Does my blood disgust you?” She added, anger seething through her mind. Never in Arth’s lifetime felt so livid. The vampire was supposed to drink her blood since that is how things are supposed to work in the Vladyn Kingdom. But Prince Jaeden informed her that he will not take any blood from her. Arth should be over the moon with that fortunate news but why does she feel so offended with his words. Arth thought that he mentioned earlier how sweet her scent was. So why was he suddenly blurting out such words? “Do you want me to?” Prince Jaeden questioned, a grin forming on his lips. It was the first that Arth saw his expression changed and she gulped at the view. He was breathtakingly handsome. “I-I… I do not know.” She stammered, her words true. “I am your juice bank… that is how it is supposed to work, right?” Arth asked, her voice in a hushed tone. All of a sudden, the grin vanished from Prince Jaeden’s face and Arth frowned at that fact. “You have heard stories about me.” He implied, confidence laced in his voice. “Stories where they tell you that I am a Demon Prince since I love to suck human’s blood until they are dead.” He continued, slowly pacing towards where Arth was standing still. She had the urge to move a step back but stopped herself. “Other humans that I met earlier warned me about you and even the royal guards who dragged me here.” Arth told him honestly and he noticed how he winced at her words. Her mind thought of Minari and Leonardo whom she had met earlier and was wondering how they are both doing now. “The stories are nothing but a myth.” Prince Jaeden blurted out, his voice full of anger. Remembering the stories that had always been implanted into the minds of humans and even other vampires always infuriated him. He was perceived as a demon. An evil undead creature lurking in the Vladyn Kingdom. Humans had feared him… even other vampires lower than his rank were terrified of her. All because of a groundless story that his father embedded through everyone’s mind. “H-wow?” Arth questioned, even though she was uncertain whether she should trust this so-called Demon Prince, she had chosen to listen to him. I mean you are the Demon Prince, that is what everyone told me. They all told me that I will die today.” “Oh you will certainly die, human.” Prince Jaeden answered almost immediately. “However, just not in my hands.” There was a pause from Kara. Her mind was swirling with so many thoughts. All along she thought that Prince Jaeden was evil since that was what the other humans told her. To be careful of Prince Jaeden… to be cautious of him. But all of a sudden, things are not aligning with the stories she had heard. “You see, I do not drink human blood.” Prince Jaeden informed her honestly. Aside from his father and his personal Vintrai, no one was aware of this fact. So he was also inwardly confused why she was sharing such a thing to a mere mortal. “I have been drinking animal blood for 500 years—” “Bloody hell! You are 500 years old?” Arth suddenly interjected as she could not help herself but to comment. The man looked as though he was just two or three years older than Arth. She is already 20 and she thought that this vampire was just in his 23’s. He looked rather young to be living undead for 500 years. Releasing a snort, Prince Jaeden felt like it was a compliment from her but then recollected his expression before he continued, “As I was saying, I do not drink human blood. All of the juice banks assigned to me are nothing but a stratagem of my father to create this perception that I am a Demon Prince.” Prince Jaeden did not know what suddenly happened to him and as to why he is sharing such an intimate part of his life to this human. For the past 500 years, he never told anyone about it. He kept it all to himself and even his Vintrai only had a little knowledge about it. So why was he telling it to this human, all of a sudden? Maybe it was the fact that she was going to die tomorrow that urged him to do so. Or the fact that he just wanted to share it to someone since he was bottling everything up for five centuries already. It would not harm him in any way since this human will be dead. “But why does your father do that? Arth questioned, ripping Prince Jaeden out of his reverie. “That I choose not to answer since you will probably die tomorrow, it is better for you not to know.” Abruptly, Prince Jaeden kind of regretted the impulsive decision that he made. “Who’s going to drink from me then?” Prince Jaeden cleared his throat, “The true demon in this kingdom… my father.” All of a sudden, Arth was staggering backwards. Everything was too much for her to bear. She just found out that the so-called Demon Prince is not really evil but his own father… ...how twisted is that? Panic-stricken, Arth scanned her marble gray eyes around the room as if she was looking for an escape. She really needs to get out of here… fast. Clearly, her life depended on it. As if on cue, an idea struck her brain and then she averted her eyes back to Prince Jaeden who was eyeing her with an impassive look in his face. “You need to help me get out of here.” She began to say, clasping her hands together. Looking taken aback, Prince Jaeden raised an eyebrow. “Why would I do that?” He asked, confused and curious. Arth took a deep breath before speaking. “Because I am a human princess.” She trrailed. Feeling like the human was pulling a prank on her, the vampire muttered in confidence. “And I am a vampire prince.” He retorted. “No, no, no. You do not understand.” Arth quickly replied, shaking her head sideways. “I am a true princess. I am Arth Margaux Wfauzhle, Firstborn Princess of King Anthony Wfauzhle and Queen Margareth Wfauzhle of the Zeindall Kingdom.” She informed him. Now that everything is sinking into Arth, she needs to make a deal. After all, everything happening around her does not seem to be a ruse created by her brother, Arden. Arth will get out of this place. She will make sure of that.
