Anthony’s POV

“What the f**k just happened? Why is she so upset?” I ask

“How could you do that to her? After everything you already put her through. How could you treat her that way? Leticia asks storming up to us

“What did we do?” I question

“You are her mates, and you act like you don’t care” Leticia yells at us

“We love Desiree. How dare you say we don’t care” Antoine says

“If you love and care about her, you have f****d up way of showing it” Sharon says. Then her and Leticia leave the office

“What did we do?” I question again

“What the f**k do you mean, what did you do? Those girls challenged her for you and disrespected her and you took their side” Wesley yelled

“No, we didn’t. She knows we would never leave her. We love her” I say

“As long as it doesn’t effect your friendships, though” David states

“That has nothing to do with it” Antoine says

“So, you are okay with someone disrespecting Desiree?” David says

“f**k NO!” Antoine yells

“Then why did you allow those girls to do it?” David questions

“I don’t think they said those things or not the way she understood it” I say

“Your mate said they did. If you care for and trust your mate, then you believe her 100% no questions asked” Wesley says

“So, I am supposed to confront friends I have known for years because of what Desiree says?” I question

“Yes! She is your mate. And if you think clarification was needed. You bring them together to talk but you don’t just dismiss her” Wesley says

“Boys? Tell me the role of a mate” dad says

“To love, cherish, care for your mate” Antoine says

“To protect and support your mate” I say

“Do you think you did those things for Desiree just now?” he asks

“Dad it’s just that….” Antoine begins but is cut off by dad

“Do you think you did those things for Desiree just now?” he asks again

Before we get to answer an intense wave of anger covers the territory. Just like when she had overwhelming grief the day of the ball. Desiree’s anger is palpable. Mom runs to the office

“What was that?” mom asks worried

“One second Belinda, answer my question boys”

“No” we say in unison

“That girl has loved you and cherished you since the mate bond was realized, even before that for you Anthony. You see how much she cares for you in her actions towards you. She fought and defeated Tina in a challenge for you. She protected you from Brenda and is supporting you through this pregnancy thing. The girls protected the whole pack from rogues, they subdued them with no loss of life. That girl has her own struggles, but she never makes them an issue, just deals with them and moves on. And that not even regarding the whole being chosen by the goddesses and being part of a prophecy. But she makes you two and your bond her focus and priority. You two got lucky to have such a mate and you take her for granted. You disrespect her over some whores you go clubbing with that you see once a year; they are not even real friends. But you are about to lose your mate because you are choosing them over her. Your f*****g idiots!!! And after everything you put her through, she should break the bond”

“Dad, how can you say that? You want her to leave us?” Antoine asks

“You don’t deserve her!!” mom says

“MOM?” we yell

“You pick those girls over Desiree, your mate?”

“We didn’t mean it like that. We didn’t realize. We’ll fix it!”

“It maybe too late for that, she left” David says

“What do you mean she left” I growl

“The girls just linked us and told us they will be back once they get Desiree settled”

“Where did she go?” Antoine asks

“They didn’t say, and I won’t find out. You were wrong. She didn’t deserve what you did and you two need to get your s**t together” Wesley says. He and David leave the office

Desiree’s POV

Another female is trying to take them. This is ridiculous. And they are so bold. You come to my new home and tell me to my face that you are going to take my man. I am tired of being the politically correct one. Tired of holding my tongue and being proper. Why am I constantly being put in these situations. And they take their side. Their response makes this all the worse. Tell me I must have misunderstood. I don’t know how I can misunderstand “we have wanted them for years, so we are coming to claim them”. I must get out of here and away from them for a while. If not, my anger is going to make me do something I probably will regret.

I walk out of the office after listening to the twins tell me I’m a liar and misunderstood. I head towards the woods because the level of anger I have right now is getting dangerous. I hear Leticia and Sharon behind me. I stop at the lake

“Desi, you need to calm down” Leti screams

“Did you hear what they said? I tell them these friends of theirs told me they are going to take them from me, and they have the audacity to tell me I misunderstood. What is wrong with them?” I yell, pacing

“I have been up front and honest with them. I have treated them with respect from day one. I have showed them I love them even before they recognized the bond, and this is how they treat me”

“All the issues we have is because of them and their past women. But I have stood by them, supported them worked through things with them and they call me a liar and put those women ahead of me. I am their mate. Me not them” I scream

“We know and you have all reason to be mad, but you need to release some of this anger, or it will consume you. Your bubble is growing” Sharon says

“They are supposed to be there for me. They said they would be there. They would love and support me. But they didn’t. I went to them, and they disregarded me. THEY ARE THE LIARS! THEY ARE SELFISH, UNCARING ASSHOLES! AND I WANT TO……AHHHH” I yell and release my anger blowing up a few trees across the lake. I fall to the ground

“Every man I have been with treats me like s**t. Why? What is wrong with me? Why do people say they love me and treat me this way?” I begin to cry

“Why is love so f*****g hard? I cry harder

“It’s not you Desi. There is nothing wrong with you. These men need to grow up and learn how to treat a woman like you” Leticia says

“I don’t know what I’m supposed to do” I cry

“Be you. You are a strong female who has endured a lot and risen to every challenge in front of you. These bitches don’t know you, so they keep stepping to you. Even Anthony and Antoine don’t know you. Maybe it’s time you stopped trying to be the person you think they need and just be you. Whoever don’t like it, can kiss your ass” Sharon says

She’s right. I am usually more in your face, bold and aggressive. After the bullying in school when I almost got raped, I started getting stronger both physically and mentally. I came to Crescent Lake as a guest, so I didn’t cause any waves, but now I feel like I’m being stepped on. It’s time I showed them who Desiree Maxwell really is

“You are right. I need a me day. I’m going shopping, want to join?”

“Absolutely, I’ll text Wesley to let him know and to not tell the twins” Leticia says

We get up and head to the garage to get my SUV and go to the mall

“Celestia, are you okay. I feel your anger” I ask her

“I am angry for you Desi. I have spoken to Stone and Granite, and they are upset with what their humans did. But I agree with you; we are stronger than we show, we are warriors and maybe it’s time we showed people who we really are”

“Thank you for always having my back Celestia”

We spend the day at the mall. We stop in every store to buy or just browse. We get a mani/pedi and was able to get spots for massages. We eat and then went to the movies. The twins tried to contact me a few times, but I was not letting them ruin my day.
