Chapter 53

Wesley’s POV

I can’t believe the twins responded to Desi the way they did. She came to them, and they put it all on her. If they keep this up, they will lose their mate. David and I leave the office to find Terrie and the girls. No matter what the twins say, we are not going to have them disrespecting our mates. We find them in the dining room

“Hey guys. You want to join us for a snack?” Sadie asks brightly

“No! Did you tell our mates that you are better suited for us, and you came here to take us from them?” David growls his question at them

“We just think you should be with woman of a similar rank, not humans” Terrie says

“Like you?” I ask

“Well, we are ranked females. We have knowledge about running a pack, and we are already friends so advancing our relationship would not be hard” Elizabeth says seductively, standing up and walking to David, touching his arm

“Don’t f*****g touch me” he yells, pulling his arm away and stepping back

“I don’t know who the f**k you girls think you are, but you are out of pocket right now. Listen up because we will only say this once; STAY THE f**k AWAY FROM OUR MATES.” I say

“We have the women we want, the ones the goddess made for us. We don’t want you! Never have, never will!” David says

“If you can’t deal with our mates then we are no longer friends. If you ever disrespect our mates again, we will not stop them from killing you” I say

“Do you all understand?” they nod, wide eyed

We leave to go tend to our pack duties. I send a text to Leti, letting her know the issue has been addressed

Elizabeth’s POV

“What the f**k just happened?” I ask the girls as Wesley and David walk away

“Did they just break off our friendship because of those humans? They chose them over us?” Terrie asks

I can’t believe that just happened. We were sure that when the boys saw us, they would drop their mates for us. We have been friends for years and even though we never established a relationship with them we knew there was an attraction there. We are much better suited for them. Why can’t they see that?

"What should we do now?” I ask

“They were so angry. I don’t think it’s worth pushing the issue. They made their choice” Terrie says

“We can challenge their mates at the announcement” I suggest

“Are your feelings for David that deep that you are willing to challenge is mate to a life or death battle for him?” Sadie asks

“I don’t know” I answer

“Well, I am going to continue my pursuit of the twins. They didn’t say anything, so I am going to assume they are not on the same page as Wesley and David when it comes to their mate. It sounds like Terrie is already stepping aside. Liz, you need to decide how you want to proceed regarding David” Sadie says

I sit down and finish my snack, contemplating my course of action. I have always loved David and thought he had feelings for me too. I really thought I would be staying in Crescent Lake with him after today. I told my parents this was going to be my new home. I don’t know if I can go back to be being the Betas youngest daughter, traveling around, partying with no purpose.

Antoine’s POV

We f****d up again. Why do we keep f*****g up when it comes to Desiree. She laid everything out for us and gave us time to prove ourselves to her. She has been patient and supportive, but we keep f*****g up. When our dad explained things and our mom said we don’t deserve her, it hurt. Was this all our fault? I just never thought Sadie would do anything like what Desi said she did. But why would Desi lie and why would I put my opinion of Sadie above Desi? I tried linking her, but she is either too far or has put up a block

“I tried linking her but can’t get through” Anthony says

“Me too. I’m going to call her” I say pulling out my phone

I dialed and it went to voicemail. I immediately hung up and called her again, no answer then voicemail. I tried again and it only rang once then to voicemail, like she declined the call. I try again

“What Antoine?” she answers the call

“Desi, where are you?” I ask

“Out”

“Out? What do you mean out? Desiree get back here now” Anthony yells

She disconnects the call. I look at my brother

“How is yelling at her, helping the situation?” I ask him

“She can’t just leave. She can get hurt”

“If you cared so much about her getting hurt you would stop hurting her” mom said snidely

“You need to reign in your over protectiveness right now. She is pissed at us and you yelling is not helping” I say to him, dialing her again

“WHAT? DAMN!” she answers

“Desi, please we are just worried about you. We want to talk” I say

“Why so you can call me a liar again? I wouldn’t want to misunderstand what you are trying to say. What do you need me for, your friends are there”

“We may have handled that situation poorly, and …...”

“Handled it poorly?” she interrupts

“You jack asses called me a liar. I told you the woman said I am not good enough to be your mate, so she is coming to take you from me, and you said I misunderstood. So, you more than handled the situation poorly. And right now, I don’t want to talk to you. So, I am out. I will come back when I am ready. Don’t call me!! If I need help, I will call Wesley or David”

“NO! WE ARE YOUR MATES…” Anthony yells and she disconnects the call

We try to call her back, but she blocks my number. Anthony tries and his number is blocked too. He screams and throws his phone at the wall
