Chapter 43

Desiree's POV

When we get there, we see about 20 rogues. Half are in wolf form and half are in human form. They look very well tended to for rogues. And why would 20 random rogues attack such a large pack? They will be destroyed before they even get a chance to do something. Something isn’t right

“Anthony, something isn’t right. Only 20 rogues? That’s a walk in the park for Crescent Lake. What damage could they possibly do? And what true attack would only use 20 rogues? And don’t they look a little too well-dressed and tended to for rogues?” I whisper to him

“Can you get anything from their thoughts?”

“Give me a minute, and you go talk to them”

He walks up to stand with his dad

“I am future alpha Anthony Stone. Why are you on our land? I am giving you a chance before we defend ourselves because you all will die”, Anthony says

“My master wants something in your pack, and we are here to get it” says the rogue in the middle

“And what would that be?” Alpha Trevor says

“He says there is someone of great power in your pack, and they belong to him”

“And getting this great power is worth you losing your life?” Anthony says

“Our task is to get it, no matter what”

“Anthony, they have no idea what’s going on. The one in the middle is the only one with any idea what they are here for, and he knows no details. They are just pawns." I link him

“What do you want to do?” he links back

“I have a plan. Sharon will be back in a minute with what I need” I link back

At that moment, Sharon arrives with the potion powder. She, Leticia and I walk up front with Anthony. I put my hand in his and feel Antoine on my left side. I know Wesley and David are by their mates' sides also

“Have everyone step back 3 feet” I link Anthony and Antoine

“Hi, rogue. What’s your name?”

“Who the f**k are you? My name is not important?”

“Okay, if that’s how you want to behave. I was trying to be nice. This great power your master sent you to look for, it’s me” I sense everyone has stepped back, and it's just me, my cousins and our mates.

“You are a liar, and I am done waiting” he screams

“Okay” I say nonchantly

We all throw our balls of sleeping powder that explode on impact. I quickly make a force field around the rogues, trapping them with the powder. For extra safety, Leticia puts masks on us and our mates and Sharon puts up a force field around everyone behind us. I use my wind power to keep the smoke from the sleeping powder contained in that confined area so no one else is affected. Within 5 minutes, all the rogues are asleep and the smoke from the sleeping powder is gone. We drop the force fields and remove our masks.

“Okay, you can go get them now” I say to Anthony and Antoine

“Thank you warriors for your quick response and assistance. I need Team A to take these rogues to the dungeon. Team B, I want you to canvas the area to make sure no one made it onto our territory. Anyone who you see that is not a Crescent Lake member is to be detained in the dungeon. Once the canvas is completed, please link the warriors at the safe houses to let everyone out. All current and future ranked members come to my office for a debriefing.” Alpha Trevor announces

Alpha Trevor’s POV

We all make it to the northern border to address the rogue attack. We left the boys arguing with their mates about whether they could participate in the fight. I understand them wanting to keep the girls safe, but I know those girls would never sit out during a fight. The sooner the boys accept that, the better. They are like my Belinda; we argued a lot at the beginning of our relationship about her refusal to go to the safe rooms. She was adamant that, as a Luna and warrior, her place was always by my side during battle. The only time she ever went to the safe room was when she was pregnant with the twins. As we reach the border, I see the kids step out of a portal, I guess the girls won.

As we face off with the rogues, Anthony links me to take point on this situation. I agree as he steps beside me in front of the warriors

“I am future alpha Anthony Stone. Why are you on our land? I am giving you a chance before we defend ourselves because you all will die”, Anthony says

I look at him questionably. Crescent Lake does not negotiate with rogues. Our course of action has always been to kill any rogues that dare to attack, no questions asked. I have taught him and Antoine this, and they have fought against rogues many times. So, why is he having conversations with them? Though I question I let him continue; he and Antoine will be the alphas soon, and I have to let them run the pack their way, and I trust them. I follow the conversation and get a bit concerned when they ask us to step back a few feet and the girls step up in front. I am on alert but continue to trust their judgment.

“Hi, rogue. What’s your name?” Desiree asks

“Who the f**k are you? My name is not important?”

“Okay, if that’s how you want to behave. I was trying to be nice. This great power your master sent you to look for, it’s me”, She tells him as we all step back, showing a small separation between the future ranked members and the rest of those present

“You are a liar, and I am done waiting” he screams

“Okay” she said nonchantly

Then a force field is put up, the girls throw something at the rogues and 5 minutes later they are all knocked out asleep in a small, confined space. I look at Belinda in shock. They have dropped the force field, and we ran to them

“Are you kids, okay?” I question

“Yes, Alpha” they all say in unison

“Desiree felt there was something off about these rogues and wanted to capture instead of kill. Thank you for allowing us to take over and trusting us to perform this task”, Anthony says

“You have all shown you are capable and work well as a team. We are proud of you all. I will leave you to continue investigating this situation. We will meet in my office in 2 hours for an update” I say

I turned to address our warriors

“Thank you, warriors, for your quick response and assistance. I need Team A to take these rogues to the dungeon. Team B, I want to canvas the area to make sure no one made it onto our territory. Anyone who you see that is not a Crescent Lake member is to be detained in the dungeon. Once the canvas is completed, please link the warriors to the safe houses to let everyone out. All current and future ranked members to my office for a debriefing.”

We all disperse; the warriors go off to fulfill their task, the current ranked members head to the packhouse and the future ranked members proceed to the dungeons. That was the easiest and safest confrontation with rogues I have ever been involved in. I really am proud of the kids. I am also excited to see what their rule will be like. This is the first time Crescent Lake has had other species as ranked members. We have other species as members, if they were mated to current pack members, but their powers were never utilized within the pack. Desiree, Sharon and Leticia were meant to be here, and I can’t wait to see what they are going to bring to Crescent Lake.
