CHAPTER 12

1105 Words
MAKING A CALL KIZZIAH I swipe off everything on my table as news of our failure hits me in the link. We lost her again! How did he defeat my men with just few of his men? I had almost fifty of my best warriors go after him. Saul joined them. Alpha Nathan was his target. “How did this happen?!” I roar into the link at my head warrior. “You were more than them!” “They had help. One minute we were on them and the next minute we were in the air.” My head jerks up at his words. “What do you mean you were in the air?” “A force kept us in the air and flung us into the forest, hence the broken bones we all have,” he grunts in pain through the link. My heart beats faster. It can’t be. “Did you see anyone that looked like a witch with them?” A witch could do that. “No, Alpha. The only female with them was Jessica.” Jessica. My heartbeat increases at the mention of her name. She shouldn’t be able to do so now. I was told that it was only when she turns eighteen which is two months away. “Did she look strange? Maybe had a light around her or something?” I pray for his answer to be no. “I don’t know if her screaming and waving her hands counts as strange?” Impossible! “Go on.” “She screamed the alpha’s name and began waving her hand. Just before we got stuck midair.” “s**t!” I roar loudly into the link. My fingers change to claws, digging deep into the table as dread fills my entire system. Damn Alpha Nathan for coming to the ceremony! I wish I hadn’t invited him. I thought when Jessica mated with Saul, it would bring our pack into more prosperity with the use of her powers. It would make us all rich. My pack would rise from the lower ranks to making allies with packs of higher ranking like the Thunderstorm Pack. Alpha Nathan is a formidable and wealthy alpha. His pack a part of the crème de la crème of werewolf packs. With a large amount of members, land, resources and companies both here and in the human world. The invitation was to foster a friendship between our two packs. His name and pack sent shivers of fear down the spines of even larger packs like his. What better ally could one ask for? No pack wanted to have issues with him. His men are skilled warriors, trained to fight to the end in both wolf and human form. They are also well- trained in fighting with wolfsbane and silver. The two things most deadly to werewolves. Saul barges in, cutting my thoughts off and I cut off the link to the warrior. “Father! He took her away!!” he complains as he collapses into the nearest chair to him. “I know!” I grit out, pulling my wolf back. “She helped him. Her hands were moving and we…” Saul just confirms the truth. My thoughts travel far, relegating Saul’s words to the background. Jessica just manifested. Her powers are out. They will feel it and soon start to search for her. And come here, asking questions.I was warned about this. I can’t have them on my lands. They don’t need me to speak before they feel my lies or access my memories through touch. Again, I curse myself for ever sending the invitation to Alpha Nathan. I just used my own hands to destroy my pack and family. Alpha Nathan could challenge me for the pack and he would win. He would probably assimilate my members into his, if they don’t fight him. But not them. They will not challenge me if they find out what I did to their daughter. Why do so when they can drop into my pack anytime and wipe out me, my family and pack? My pack would cease to exist and the Council won’t do anything because of who they are. Blessed by the goddess herself. Who would dare fight against the ones the goddess blessed herself. They are brutal when it comes to protecting their pups or members. And I stole Jessica when she was just a pup. I think it’s time I made a call. One I never thought I would make. But I have to after destroying almost two decades’ worth of planning. Just when my plan was about to hatch, my greed destroyed it. “Excuse me, Saul,” I raise my eyes to my pouting and sulking son. It’s not his fault that he thinks Jessica is his birthright. I sold the idea to him right from the beginning. “What do we do? We can find a way to make the Council favour us.” “I will handle it as always.” “But he’s taking her away. We need to find out from the packs around if he’s gone to them for help.” “And you think anyone of them would tell us? Did you see them at the ceremony? None of them could speak because of who he is, Saul.” “He’s a nobody! And he has my mate! You promised her to me!” he burst out in anger, banging his fists on my table. “Stop acting like an entitled and spoilt child! I gave her to you and I will get her back for you! Now go to your room and find someone to let out your frustration on as usual!” He nods and shuffles away, cursing at Nathan Hunt. I have over indulged this child, but it is to my gain and my pack’s. If anything, his obsession with Jessica is a tool I can exploit further. But for now I have to make a call. My hand trembles as I pick the phone and start dialing the numbers. It starts to ring. My legs shake as I walk to a chair to sit. “Hello,” her voice fills my ear, sounding just like it did that day. “Who is this?” Licking my lips, I take a deep breath before answering. “This is Alpha Kizziah.” There’s a slight pause from her end before she shrieks in alarm.”Kizziah?! Why are you calling me?” “I think we might have a problem.” “Problem?” “She used her powers.”
