Chapter Seven – The Omega Princess

Chapter Seven – The Omega Princess Phoenix moaned slightly as the sunlight streamed through her bedroom window waking her up. Cursing once more her Uncle Robin’s werewolf-proof whiskey, she turned in her bed placing the pillow over her head and let out a low groan. Last night had been amazing, she had partied hard with her twin brother, both of them drinking a lot more of the special brew than they should have, and she was paying the price now. Phoenix lay trying to remember the end of the night, but she could not recall a thing after dancing on the table in some bar with Amalia, and Jonathon grabbing each of them in his strong arms, throwing one over each shoulder and hysterically laughing as he carried them both outside. That was when the air hit her, and after that, she cannot remember a thing. Her head was pounding like someone was drilling inside her skull; she uttered the words she always did after drinking her uncle’s moonshine. “Never again.” Wiping her eyes with the back of her hand, she groaned once more as she looked over the side of her bed, noticing that there was a large bucket strategically placed beside it. Phoenix smiled slightly, before her stomach began to lunge again, and she dry-wretched a few times, hanging over the bucket, thankful that she was not physically sick. She had liked all but one of the pack members, although she could not remember their names, as both her and Amalia were halfway to drunk by the time Jonathon had returned to her apartment with his mate’s clothes and make up. All of them were very friendly and seemed genuinely happy that Jonathon had found his long-lost twin sister. Just one she-wolf gave her a dirty look, then fake smile, but she did not hang around long, apparently, she wanted to bed the pack Alpha, and her brother was reprimanding her for throwing herself at him and being totally inappropriate. Phoenix smiled, as she remembered her brother informing her that the Alpha was resolute in not doing anything that would betray the mate bond, even though he had not found the woman yet. She found that very admirable, especially for a male Alpha who was still just 23, according to Jonathon. Another memory flashed through her mind, that of a wolf, she searched her brain which felt like mush to remember his name, Juan, that was it. He was a hoot, although a little handsy, the pack gamma. He had placed his arm around her and whispered some very suggestive remarks to her, which were funny at first, but then made Phoenix feel a little uncomfortable, so she had told him in no uncertain terms to go find himself another woman. To say he was slightly stunned that an Omega had the confidence to refuse him, and to be so emphatic about it, that she had growled a warning to the higher-ranking wolf, would be an understatement. Jonathon had looked on, a proud smile on his lips as she made it very clear the gamma would not get anywhere with her. Little did they know, she had an Alpha younger brother, so she learned very early on in her life how to make herself heard and defend herself when it came to ranking wolves. To be fair to Juan, he had immediately left her alone after she had made her annoyance known. Although, if she was honest, she was not sure if that was because of her warning, or the fact her twin brother was giving the gamma a look that said. ‘Touch her and die.’ He had tried to find solace with the Alpha obsessed she-wolf, but she was having none of it, and he had moaned for around half-an-hour about how he had it on good authority she had a magical tongue, and that Alpha Teo was missing out, all because of a mate he was yet to meet, if he ever did meet her. Phoenix pulled back the sheets from her bed, and hesitantly placed her feet on the floor, as she stood up to go take a shower. Suddenly Liane, the teleporting wolf from home, appeared in her bedroom. “Queen Chloe, sent you these.” She grinned, then placed a pack of paracetamol, some fresh orange juice, along with a hot bacon sandwich on the side, then disappeared once more, before Phoenix had a chance to thank her. Phoenix smiled, shaking her head slightly. Trust her mam to know she had a hangover, and send a care package to her. Grabbing the bacon sandwich, her stomach lunged again, but she managed to eat it, then drank the orange juice, popping a couple of the paracetamol into her mouth, then making her way to the shower. “I feel sick. Why do you insist on drinking Uncle Robin’s concoction?” Ava complained at her. “Because it always seems like a good idea at the time, but never again Ava, I promise,” Phoenix appeased her hungover wolf. “You, said that the last time, and the time before that, oh, and the time before that … I wanted to go for a run before we go to our first lectures today, but no, I think I will stay put, thank you.” Ava sighed, and Phoenix felt her wolf curl up inside her mind and fell back to sleep. Phoenix did not know why her wolf was complaining, after all she could spend the day sleeping, whilst she had to get ready and head for her first day at university. Jonathon barked orders at the pack warriors during the early morning training. He was sweating profusely but it was not due to the exercise and combat moves, but due to the excesses of his twin’s uncle’s whiskey. Suppressing a groan and wondering why he had agreed to do the early morning training session, then remembered that Teo had not been sleeping well for months, so had offered to help out and give his Alpha some much required rest. Picking up a bottle of water, gulping down the refreshing liquid, Jonathon gave the order for the warriors to break off into pairs, and begin hand-to-hand combat training. Rabbi his wolf was whimpering inside his head, cursing Jonathon for drinking the whiskey. It could have been worse, his mate was tucked up in bed, after having her head in a bucket most of the night. Jonathon smiled, as he remembered tucking his twin sister into her bed and seeing the two small, knitted dolls, that were clearly them both, at the bottom of it. He made a mental note to ask her about them, wondering where they had come from, after all she did not know she had a brother, let alone a twin until yesterday, and those dolls looked very old. Normally he would start his day making sweet love to his mate, but this morning, Amalia had battered him away from her, telling him, no chance, even if the sparks were amazing. Jonathon was hopeful she was feeling a little better when he returned from training, so they could start the day as they normally did, before making his way up to Barcelona for the first day of his doctorate. That was another thing that had totally blown him away, how Phoenix had joined the same course. Also, it seemed throughout the years, they had experienced some weird s**t at the same time. For example, one day Phoenix woke up, she could not move her leg, and was in serious pain, even their pack healer could not help, when they did a timeline, it was the time Jonathon was attacked by a rogue, his leg bitten, and it had taken a full day to heal. They were both around 16 at the time, and the Montseny pack did not have a gifted healer at the time, Gabriela was still very young, and her gift had not appeared at that time. However, given how the healer wolf was high-tailing it to Madrid this morning, Jonathon wondered if she would have helped if the attack had happened after Teo had taken over the pack. Another incident that had happened was the day he was crippled with pain in his stomach, and could not move for a full ten minutes, before it disappeared as quickly as it appeared. Apparently Phoenix had taken a fall down the stairs, and had some internal damage to her stomach, but their pack healer, her uncle Ethan had gotten to her, and healed her. Jonathon gave a small smile; it seemed the pair of them were more connected than either of them could have imagined. “Mate is awake, finish off this session and let’s get to her,” Rabbi shouted excitedly in his mind. With a smile, Jonathon called the warriors to a halt, they were almost done anyway, then led them to the training showers, one of Teo’s inventions to stop the pack house stinking of sweat after the sessions. Jonathon grinned as he saw Diego cleaning the toilets, his face full of annoyance, clearly on punishment, the young omega Marco was standing over him, loving his life, as he told him he had missed a bit. After the shower, Jonathon was heading towards the pack house, as Teo walked out of the doors, dressed in just a pair of shorts. Since his accelerated growth spurt when his rank was elevated, his Alpha always complained about the heat, so would wear as little clothing as possible. “Jonathon, are you at university today?” Teo asked. “Yes, first day.” Jonathon smiled at his Alpha and best friend. “Okay can we have a chat before you go,” Teo half-asked half-commanded. Jonathon let out a small sigh. “Any chance I can go see Amalia first, be about half-an-hour or so?” Jonathon asked. Teo shook his head, knowing exactly what his beta would be doing with his mate, but took pity on him. “Make it no more than twenty minutes.” Teo laughed, then headed back round to his office. Teo had already made the decision of what he was going to do, but before announcing it he really wanted to check on his Beta’s thoughts. Although he knew Jonathon would back him up, but after last night, he needed to get Valentina away from the pack house all together. However, the challenge was how to do that without offending the warrior wolf and make it not just about her. Exactly twenty minutes later Jonathon arrived at the Alpha office and walked inside. “Close and lock the door please Jonathon.” Teo sighed. Jonathon did as he was requested, then took a seat in front of his Alpha’s large oak desk. “So, when you guys got back last night, Valentina arrived at my bedroom again.” Teo sighed out in frustration. “I was able to resist and shouted at her to get away, but honestly Jonathon, my hormones this past week are off the charts. It was difficult before, now it is unbearable. Carlos is restless, constantly moaning about wanting his mate. I am horny all the damned time. I am not sure how long before my resolve snaps in the heat of the moment. Plus, it is distracting me from what is important, which is running this pack, placating those who doubt me, and finding Alix’s killer,” Teo confided in his beta. “I had a thought, and I just want to run it by you before making the command,” Teo sighed out. Jonathon waited patiently for his Alpha to tell him his plan, he felt so sorry for him, knowing he was struggling so much to remain faithful to the mate bond. Whoever his Luna turned out to be, she was a lucky she-wolf, because Teo was showing massive restraint. “We have the university grounds, with their own small sort of pack house, normally we let them organise their own way of doing things, however, what if I put four or five warriors with them, to help guard the area from rogue attacks, and have them live at the grounds on a permanent basis?” Teo asked. “It would make sense, but it will piss off some of the wolves you choose. But we could put Juan in there as well, after all, he is mateless, and given he has no Luna to protect, he may enjoy watching over and semi leading a load of she-wolves.” Jonathon smiled, already knowing Valentina’s name was on the list, and he felt this would be perfect for Juan, so he could do what he wanted, with who he wanted, away from the pack house and Teo. “Well, if you can pick four male warriors who are strong enough to go, and Valentina, as the female warrior, with an order to use the student pack house, and accommodation, and send Juan in so I can give him the news that he is overseeing the operation.” Teo sighed out. “Consider it done, I will make sure this happens now, but then I have to get to University. I am meeting my twin for lunch before we start our first lecture this afternoon.” Jonathon smiled proudly. “I am sorry I missed last night; I do want to meet her.” Teo smiled at his best friend. “Its fine, I invited her to come this weekend, to stay here at the pack house with us, you will meet her then.” Jonathon smiled. Suddenly Carlos his wolf got excited again spinning round in his head, and Teo let out a frustrated sigh, his wolf was even perving after his best friend and beta’s twin sister who he had never met, he really needs to find his mate!
