Olly gets up at seven and is half tempted to crawl with his hands and knees to the kitchen but later changes his mind when the time changes from 7:00 to 7:01. The sun's up and from the muffled sounds of blaring horns and the loud sounds of footsteps outside his shut window, half of New York is up too.
Getting ready for the day takes just twenty minutes and by seven thirty, Olly is clad in a white shirt buttoned all the way to his neck and his wrist, said shirt was tucked into a pair of light blue jeans and rolled at the ankle, his feet tucked into a pair of white trainer and to top it off, he tugs on a grey blazer.
He finds Rami floundering about in the kitchen and on the small dining table on the side of the kitchen were two plates stacked with blueberry pancakes and bacon strips.
"No eggs?" he asked and Rami dumps the pan in the sink and turns to Olly with narrowed eyes.
"Good morning to you too. I slept well, thank you for asking." Rami mouthed, one hand on his hip.
Olly gave Rami a sheepish look and walk closer until he was able to wrap his arms around Rami in a hug. Rami hugs back, his hands going around Olly's shoulder and he presses a kiss to his forehead.
"Morning babe." Olly whispers, turning to press a kiss to Rami's cheek.
"Morning too, Olly." Rami replied and gave Olly one final squeeze before pulling back, his eyes going over his Olly's appearance. "You look great but something has to be done about your hair. Did you even brush it?"
"Nope. I was thinking of just packing it up." Olly said as he makes his way to the small dining table. He takes a seat and leans down to inhale the smell of the sweet pancakes. He lifts his head when Rami takes his seat across him.
"Just use a little texturizer before going."
"You're the best, Rami-boo."
Rami glares. "Don't call me that or you'll walk to work."
"You're dropping me off?" Olly asked before pushing a forkful of pancakes into his mouth and holy, they were amazing.
"Of course, I don't want you to be late today. Aren't you meant to meet with the HR department of your fancy work place?" Rami asked, pushing some of his bacon onto Olly's plate. He receives a blinding grin in return.
"You're the best."
"So I've been told."
--
By eight fifty, Olly walks into the office of the head of the HR department and sitting behind the table. Tobias was an elderly man with grey white hair styled up and on his nose were steel circle shaped glasses, kinda like Sunny's.
Tobias talks to him about the do's and don'ts about being a P.A and Olly nods like it was his first time hearing it even though he was briefed and sent to a seminar before he was given the promotion as Miss Hopkins PA. He was handed a brand new phone with a list of Mr. Petrie's important contacts. It took him ten minutes to look through and sign the document and by nine fifteen, he's making his way up to Mr. Petrie office.
The entire twentieth floor was the said man's office, a side office for the PA and a conference room. Olly makes his way to the door marked CEO, smirking when he passes a door that said Segel, PA. He knocks three times and pushes open the door when he hears a voice say come in.
Sitting behind a pure glass table with documents and a latest Apple pc perfectly arranged on it was Nicholas Petrie, Olly's new boss. The man had on a white round neck, a white blazer and blue jeans. His hair was styled up and Olly finds himself transfixed by brown eyes that reminded him of caramel. Olly feels his mouth run dry and he doesn't know where to look at as he walks into the office.
"Good morning, Mr. Petrie."
Olly feels the rate of his heart pick up as he sees Nicholas clearly give him a once-over. He rubs his palms together and stared at his new boss. None of them spoke for a few seconds, Olly took a step back when Nicholas pushed back his seat and got up, making his way closer to Olly.
"Good morning, bubble."
Olly frowned up at the man. "Bubble?"
"I don't think you're ready to know what bubble stands for yet." Mr. Petrie said, taking one more step closer. "I've been meaning to ask, have we met before?"
Olly blinked repeatedly. "Before the coffee incident?" Nicholas hums in reply and Olly tries to remember. He peeked up at Nicholas through his lashes, he doubts he'd forget meeting a man like this but the one thing that made him think and think and think was how familiar Nicholas' voice sounded, kinda like he had heard it before.
However, the answer is. "No, I don't think so."
Nicholas raised a brow at him. "You sure? Not even an ice cream shop? A book store? Somewhere?"
"No I don't think so." Olly said, struggling to keep his expression neutral. He's a hundred percent sure he hasn't seen Nicholas before, he hasn't been to a book store in a while, Rami picks his ice cream or Eden just brings hers over. So the answer is a definite no.
"Okay." Nicholas finally said and returns back to his seat, his expression suddenly hard. "You can leave.”
Not one for asking too many questions, Olly nods and walks out of the room. He makes his way to the office with marked Segel, PA and walked in. his office was huge and spacious, he got his own glass desk and pc, a small sitting room with a center glass table with a tray of china cups and even got a floor length glass window, just like Nicholas'.
Before he could sit, the landline on the table began to ring and thus started Olly's job.
By eleven, everything went to hell.
PETRIE GAMES COPIES ANDREA TECH.
CEO, Kelsey Andrea claims Nicholas Petrie, CEO of Petrie Game, founder of Apple Crush copied Apple Bang, Andrea Tech's number one game.
That's the headline for the daily news online and phones haven't stopped ringing. Oliver has been running through all floors, collecting flash drives and printed documents. He looks through time and used neon markers to highlight important words and after he's gotten his facts together, he makes his way to Mr. Petrie's office.
"Sir, I have gathered all the documents you asked for. The CS department have outlined their coding and it's different from that of Andrea Tech. Yes, the games are alike but ours hit the market first." Olly said as he hands Nicholas document after document. "Apple crush has a thousand and two levels while Andrea Tech's Apple Bang has just four hundred levels. We provide free ten gems to player in the first level and every hundred level the player passes and while Apple Bang players have to purchase a gem with every level."
Nicholas nods as he reads through the papers. "Call up a press conference in an hour, the media outlets I need are saved in the phone HR must have given you and I'll sort it out. I need the head of every department in the conference room twenty minutes to said press conference."
By the time Nicholas was done talking, Olly had finished typing out an email and hit send by the time Nicholas had said conference. On his way out he calls up Gold News, SERZ TV and other papers, journalists.
By eleven-fifteen, Olly walks back into Nicholas' office. The man who was typing away on his pc stopped once Olly walks into the office. Nicholas leans back against the chair and stared at Olly.
"Everything set?"
"Done, sir." Olly replied.
Nicholas types for a few seconds and then gets up. He walks towards Olly until they were so close, the curly haired man had to look up so he could look Nicholas in the eye. His heart starts jack rabbiting and all of a sudden, Olly is suddenly filled with the urge to have Nicholas closer, to feel Nicholas' hands on his waist, gripping him tight until he lets out a whimpe- and okay!.
Olly takes three steps back away from Nicholas. It's been three years since he's been interested in a man but here he is, wanting and it's a bit scary for a lot of reasons and top of the list is, Nicholas being a stranger.
"Mr. Petrie, I think it-"
"Nicholas." Nick interjected.
Oliver blinks. "What?"
"I want you to call me Nicholas or Nick, whichever you prefer." The man said and Olly tries to blink away his disbelief. He takes another couple of steps backwards until he was closer to the door. He stared at Nicholas, watched the way the man pushed both hands into his pocket and stared at him like he knew something Olly didn't.
"I don't think that's appropriate sir."
"I don't care if it is."
"Mr. Petrie, not that I don't want to discuss personal matters with you but we have more pressing matters at hand. You have a press conference in a few minutes and a conference room filled with head of departments for a briefing." Olly said, reminding of their impending problem. He's partially wondering why Nicholas was so calm and another half was wondering what was going on in Nicholas' head.
"Of course." Nicholas replied. But the man, however, did not move. He just stood and watched Olly, the hat and interest in his gaze was doing all sorts of things to Olly's body. Olly's mind was going hazy, his knees turning into jelly. No man has ever looked at him that way in a few years and he's half scared and excited. So before he could make a mistake, like throw himself at the first guy who shows interest in him, he pulls open the door and well...runs.
By twelve on the dot, Nicholas was standing with a headset microphone, the heads of department in a horizontal line behind him. At the back of the room was Olly who was wondering if Nicholas was okay with the amount of camera flashes directed at him but the man stood his ground, his voice coming out sure and strong.
"I came up with the design for Apple Crush, my employees worked hard to add more ways to make the game better and accessible and it irks me that the CEO of Andrea Tech is sprouting, for lack of better word, crap. The game coding are ours and our game hit the market before Andrea Tech. I will not have my employees hard work be stolen, I will not have my employees hard work be in vain. I will not let myself nor my employees be insulted. No one copied anyone. Every level, every design, every voiceover, every soundtrack is a full-proof Petrie Games original." Nicholas addresses the guests who were typing rapidly on their laptop. "Any questions?"
A couple of hands went up and Nicholas points at a dark skinned woman, who gets up. "The games are identical and even if yours hit the market first, how can you prove the game was actually yours?"
Olly claps his hand together and watched as the head of CS Department, Graphic design department both made their way up and stood beside Nicholas.
"I wasn't the only one who created the game so I believe the people who did can give you a better answer." Nicholas said and let the heads take over. Question after question was thrown and every head of department answers each question, passing round a sing paper where Nicholas' coding was circled in red.
The press conference came to an end an hour later and once everyone except Nicholas and Olly had left, Nicholas falls into an empty chair and lets out a loud sigh. Olly finally makes his way to the man and stands on the other side of the table so he could see Nicholas' face and not the back of his head. The man didn't look appeased and Olly found it odd, especially after the man had put Andrea Tech in their place.
"Are you okay, sir?" Olly finds himself asking after having a few seconds of internal battle within himself.
"I will be in a few." Came the reply.
"It's lunch time. Should I order you anything or go get you anything?" Olly asked, already pulling out his phone from his pocket. Nicholas looks up at Olly and runs a hand down his face, his gaze calculating. "Do you need to be alone?"
"No, I don't want to be alone." Nicholas said and gets up, making his way towards Olly. "Would you have lunch with me?"
Olly sputters. "I-I do-don't think that's appropriate, sir."
Nicholas stops in front of Olly and stares straight into Olly's eyes, his brown eyes glowing. "As your boss, I am telling you, you're having lunch with me." Nicholas states, his voice low and his tone, final.
Olly doesn't even get the chance to say something because in the next second, Nicholas had turned away from him and was heading towards the door. Once the man had left, Olly's legs give out and he falls onto a chair. The only thought ringing through his head was...
What the f**k is happening?
