Olly stands awkwardly outside the Petrie Games building waiting for Nicholas to pull the car up. He's somewhat confused and somewhat looking forward to this lunch...meeting? People have been coming out in small groups, heading towards the subway down the street or that popular Italian restaurant on the opposite side.
He didn't have to wait long before because a few seconds later Nicholas pulls up in a huge black range rover and Olly can't help but feel like Nicholas was overcompensating for something and he also wants to know what bubble means. Nicholas motions him over and Olly gets into the car.
"I know this brilliant restaurant a few street over, it's owned by a very close friend of mine." Nicholas said as he drives.
"What restaurant? Maybe I know it and book an appointment?"
"It's Yoon's."
Olly's eyes widened and he turned to look at his boss. "You're friends with Chef Yoon? Who are you?"
Nicholas lets out a startled laugh and Olly is struck with how familiar it sounded. He's thinks about where he's heard that laugh and he just can't place it. Instead he focuses on Nicholas who was talking but for the life of him, Olly wouldn't be able to tell you one word of what the man was saying instead he's thinking about how familiar the man's laugh was and where he's heard it and he can bet the entire money in his bank account that he hasn't seen Nicholas Petrie before, he'd know won't he?
He was snapped out of his thoughts when he feels Nicholas' hand on his, felt how his huge hand covered his, felt the slow hum that shoots through his arm and Olly's head snaps up. He knows his eyes are wide but he just can't explain everything he's feeling. It's frustrating.
"Are you okay?" Nicholas asked, his gaze piercing and Olly feels like he could stare into those brown pools forever, since he couldn't find the right words to say he just nodded and pulled his hand away.
Nicholas didn't say anything anymore and drove quietly to the restaurant. Yoon's was a two story building with floor length windows so you can see through it, tables arranged sparsely around and Immediately Olly walks in, he was enveloped by the sweet smell of orange chicken and god, he could bring his bed in here and live.
Yoon's was always booked all year round cause there were only twenty tables in the restaurant ten downstairs and ten upstairs and in an interview, Yoon Ji Seong had said, he didn't want his restaurant crowded like others, he wanted enough space for people to walk through, he wanted it airy and breezy. Olly has never had the opportunity to enter the restaurant but now that he's in it, he has the urge to start clapping.
"It's really something is it?" Nicholas asked as Olly takes in the small lights in the ceiling that was giving the place a soft gold glow, the wooden floors shining and the Olly is impressed.
"It smells amazing, looks amazing and...just wow!"
"I know." Nicholas said, leading Olly towards the flight of steps. It was as they were walking up that Olly realized the restaurant was closed. He doesn't get to ask Nicholas why because immediately they get upstairs, he's mind blown when he sees Chef Yoon talking to another man who was sitting across him who immediately excuses himself when he sees Nicholas and Olly.
Chef Yoon turns around to see what his employee was looking at and he cheers when he sees Nicholas.
"Nick!" the man cheered.
"SJ!" Nick cheered, matching Chef Yoon's tone.
Olly stared at the both of them amused. He watched as Nicholas pulled Chef Yoon into a big hug and he marveled at how tall Chef Yoon was because the man was approximately Nicholas height while Olly's head could hardly graze Nicholas' shoulder. They both pulled back and once Chef Yoon's gaze falls on him, Olly feels like getting his phone out and taking a picture. The man was so f*****g good looking that it wasn't fair.
"You must be Olly." Chef Yoon said as he walks towards him and Olly's eyes almost bulged out of his head. This totally good looking celebrity chef knows his name. He's absolutely star struck.
"Y-yes. I'm Oliver Segel but my friends call me Olly." He said and he mentally said woah when Chef Yoon pulls him into a hug and whispered into his ear.
"I've heard good things about you and I know we'll be good friends, Olly." Chef Yoon said and Olly just nods, he has so many questions to ask the Chef but it's like he can't speak. He lifts his gaze from the Chef's shirt to Nicholas, who was standing there with a grin, his hands pushed into his pocket.
Nicholas clears his throat and Olly pulls back from the hug.
"I love your hair. It's so curly and long." Chef Yoon said, staring at Olly's hair. "Nick told me you both were coming so I prepared a fantastic lunch for both of you."
Olly smiles in response, his eyes glistening with curiosity. "Thank you so much. I was just planning to go to my friend's café to get something." Olly adds.
Chef Yoon leads Olly towards Nicholas with a hand on his elbow. "Really? What café?"
"Café Shamir?"
Chef Yoon turns to him with a slack jaw, his eyes comically wide. "I love that place! It's an actual coffee house. The smell of coffee isn't covered up by baked good, it's just the pure scent of coffee and the menu is just amazing!"
Olly laughs as he stops beside Nicholas and subconsciously moved closer. "Funny thing is, it took him a week to come up with that menu. The entire flat smelt like coffee for three months after that."
"You live with the owner of Café Shamir?" Nicholas asked and Olly nods.
"Yeah. Rami wanted a café of his own, he used to work at one and hated how the pastries were always covering up the smell of coffee, so he decided to get his own place and I supported him." Olly tells them, leaving out a few parts, parts that only Rami could tell them. If they ever meet, that is.
"Like I said, we will be good friends, Olly." Chef Yoon said. "I'll let Nicholas lead you to his spot and bring out your food, I want to see the look on your face when you see it and taste it." And with that, the chef went into the kitchen. Nicholas smiles and led him towards a sit at the center of the room with a hand on the small of Olly's back.
Olly shivered a little and he feels small tingles shoot through his body. He, however, crash landed into reality when he felt Nicholas fingers brush his waist right over where his stretch marks are as he was about to pull back and Olly flinches. Nicholas pulls his hand away and stared at Olly with this certain look in his eyes that said I know something you don't but it’s okay.
Olly takes his seat across Nicholas and rests his hands on his thigh.
"SJ and I have been friends since we were ten." Nicholas said, breaking the silence.
"Really? Is he your only friend?"
Nicholas chuckles and shakes his head. "I've got just two really close friends. You've met Yoon Ji Seong and the other is Ray Foster, he owns a cab service and it's doing really well too." Olly misses the pointed look Nicholas gives him when he redirects his gaze to the forks on the table. They both delved into uncomfortable silence until chef Yoon wheeled in a sleek steel food cart with two plates covered with steel domed food cover. Olly began tapping his feet in excitement when the chef stops in front of them.
"Okay, so Nicholas told me you eat chicken so I made a pan-seared chicken breast with shallots with sauce but with my own twist, this isn't part of my menu so you two will be the official first tasters." Chef Yoon stated as he proceeds to place the plates on the table. He stands up and wipes his hand on his apron. "Okay, go ahead now. I hope you enjoy it."
Olly pulled off the steel cover and was immediately hit with the smell of perfectly cooked chicken and sauce. He turned his gaze to Nicholas who was about ready to dig his fork into his food. While Ji-Seong pours them each a glass of white wine, Olly takes his first taste and he let out a loud moan before he could stop himself. When he heard Nicholas start coughing, Olly realized what he had done, he raised his gaze from the food and found two sets of eyes, blinking owlishly at him.
"Um...I am so so-sorry." Olly apologized, heat spreading to his cheeks and ear, painting it a soft pink. He turned away from the other two men to his food. "It's just, the taste took me by surprise. I r-r-really couldn't help myself."
Nicholas just waves one hand as if to say don't worry about it and took hold of his glass of wine and drowns it in one go whilst Ji-Seong gives him one of his blinding smiles.
"So it's good?"
"More than good."
"It's amazing, SJ."
The chef excuses himself one more and disappears into the kitchen, leaving Olly and Nicholas alone again but this time with food to distract both of them. Though the food was amazing, smelt amazing, Olly couldn't look away from Nicholas. He watched as the man took forkful of food into his mouth, watched the way his lashes brushed his cheek whenever he blinked, watched the bob of his adam's apple as he swallowed and he's feeling so many things right now. So many things. So he decides instead of being caught staring like a weirdo, he focuses on his food but then again, since his mouth and head don't work together sometimes, Olly finds himself talking.
"Chef Yoon seems nice." Olly hears himself say.
Nicholas head snaps up and Olly doesn't look up from his plate, scared of how his body might react. "He's one of the nicest person I know." Nicholas replied. "Do you have any siblings?"
"No, I'm an only child. But I do have two friends who I consider part of my family." Olly responds.
They sit in silence and continued eating until Chef Yoon makes his way back. Conversation picked up once the bubbly chef sat down with them, they talk about work, about food, about café Shamir, Olly trades his number with Ji Seong and promises to introduce the man to Rami later next week. Once they were done, they made their way back to work, Nicholas leading Olly to the car with his hand on Olly's elbow and even opened the door for him.
"Thank you for lunch." Olly said once they were at work, turning to look at Nicholas. They were the only ones in the elevator since it was Nicholas' private one. The man turns to Olly and moved closer, Olly instantly went still when Nicholas brushed a stray curl behind his ear and let his fingers trail down his cheek. It made Olly shiver and he's sure Nicholas felt it too. He lifts his gaze from Nicholas' white collar to his eyes and gulps when Nicholas takes a step closer.
Olly closes his eyes when Nicholas leans in, waiting for the kiss, waiting to be reduced to nothing but weak knees, his heart rabbiting. His eyes snap open when he feels warm lips press against his cheek just as the elevator doors pull open. He watched as Nicholas walks out and he stared at the man with wide eyes, his heart going a mile a minute.
"You're welcome, beautiful."
